Getting back on track

Hi all!! I had my DS surgery about 5 years ago and lost 165lbs, praise the Lord! I was right at my goal weight! 🙌 But then three years ago I was in a horrible car accident and broke my back in several places. I had to have back surgery and it’s been a painful road to recovery. Unfortunately, I went from a super active person to a complete inactive person, I gained 60lbs of it back ☹️. I’m trying to reset my DS (without another surgery of course). Any suggestions?? Has anyone been able to reset theirs by going back to basics or following the pre-op diet and then the post op diet? I welcome any suggestions and advice!! 🫶🫶

For more advice you can try FB DS group. I believe there are others who’ve successfully lost the regain.

I agree with @Postop but get back to where you were when you began or just before you began maintenance. Focus on protein, fluids, vegetables, fruit, dairy and small amounts of complex multi or whole grains. Watch portions and snacking. That amount of calorie intake will get you back to a lower weight you were or close to where you were. Of course you will have to adjust for your reduced activity levels.

Remember you’re not resetting your DS. It’s still there doing what it’s supposed to do. You're resetting your head i.e. your thinking & relationship with food.

All the best.

I'm a firm believer in seeking help from your surgery center. I do yearly post op check ups still. When I hit a very long (almost a year) plateau my nutritionist had lots of ideas and tools to help me break thru. I ultimately decided to incorporate a glp-1 and it was the 2nd best decision of my life next to my surgery. It took awhile to really get going but I stuck with it and have taken off another 90 pounds. My dr had lots of different suggestions other then glp-1 injections though! Don't be afraid to ask for help!
