Type II Diabetes Management after surgery
I was taking 1 metformin er tablet a day. My PCP told me to stop taking them after surgery. She said that she doesn't anticipate me needing them any more, but to watch my blood sugars closely.

Bowel issues?
It does sound like IBS. The symtoms you describe, describe me to a t. What is always odd to me is, a food that causes symptoms today, may not cause them tomorrow. I now control my sypmtoms with medication. You definitely want to see your doctor about this. You don't want to risk getting dehydrated from the watery stools. I hope you feel better soon.

Special K20 Protein Water Mix?
I like the iced tea flavor. The only problem that I have noticed is it doesn't mix well if the water is too cold. I have to use room temp water to mix it then add my ice.

What R Some Of Your Healthy Food Staples
I have seen those before. I haven't tried to cook them without some type of sauce on top so I wasn't sure if they would be dry. Thanks for the info. I had never thought to try some type of lid in the microwave. I had basically just not been reheating meat in the microwave. I have been eating it room temperature or not eating left overs at all. I am having my band placed VERY soon and have been making my shopping list. Thanks to both of you for answering my questions.

Constipation... oh my
One word.... EWWWWW! :rolleyes2: I use Miralax for my son who has always had BM issues. We started using it when it was RX only. It works wonders with no gas or pain like other laxatives.

soy or whey protein ideas?
I have the protein bullets by IDS. They come in a test tube like container. It has 42g of whey protein per 3.1 fl oz tube. I get them from www.supplements.net for about $28 for a case of 12. I drink half of it with my crystal lite since i have heard that the body can only absorb 20 or so grams of protein at a time.

What R Some Of Your Healthy Food Staples
How do you reheat them once they are thawed to keep them from being too stringy or dry?

What R Some Of Your Healthy Food Staples
Do you weigh your fish? And what piece of chicken do you use for yourself? I really like skinless chicken breast, but I am afraid that will cook too dry.

UGI Series/How Long?
I never actually retched, but I felt like it. I told them I wanted to hurl... they gave me the barf bag and stepped away VERY quickly. My radiologist didn't move that fast at any other time.

Other Options?
Some of the makers of the different band types also offer financing. Also, do more research. Most of the doctors that I spoke to give a cheaper price for self pay patients. Good luck to you.

Why is it taking so long?
Don't throw in the towel yet. Most insurance companies allow as much as 30 days to review the information. When they send it for outside review, they send it to nurses or doctors on staff to go over the information and compare it with their requirements. Some companies are faster, and others go as slow as molasses. Do you remember how long it took for the first denial? If this is taking longer, it could be a good sign. Keep the faith!

New Whey Protein Bullets - INFO
That should be right up your alley then, they are only 3 oz. per bullet. Since you only need to drink half of the 42g bullets, that should be easier to get down. They also sell a 25g bullet, but it costs about the same as the 42g. Why pay the same for less protein? I will have to taste the orange soon and post how it tastes.

New Whey Protein Bullets - INFO
I paid right under $28 for 12 online at Vitamins, Nutritional & Weight Loss Supplements | Discount Bodybuilding Supplements. I found that cheaper than paying for the GNC gold card. I don't go there often enough to buy it (the gold card).

New Whey Protein Bullets - INFO
The only thing I don't like is it has a slight aftertaste. The after taste tastes like what some cardboard smells like. I promise I haven't been licking cardboard, but I swear that is what is seems like. I don't know if it is because I didn't have it cold enough, or if it was too much Protein at one time. They taste really good going down.

New Whey Protein Bullets - INFO
I have heard that the body can only process so much protein at one time. What I have been doing with my bullets is mixing half of the bullet with crystal lite. I bought the fruit punch flavor also. I have the orange, but I haven't tried it yet.

overnight stay or not
I am scheduled for same day release, but they told me to come prepared to stay at least 23 hours. If your insurance pays for the procedure, it really depends on your policy as to whether you would pay extra for the overnight stay. My policy, for example, pays the hospital charges 100% regardless of whether I only stay for the day or if I stay overnight. The only time they don't pay, in my case, is if the doctor doesn't call for authorization within 48 hours of admitting me. You might want to look at your policy paperwork to see what is shows for in network hospital stays. If you can't find it, call your insurance company at the number that should be on the back of your card. You can ask them to not only tell you over the phone how it is covered (I would write down names, dates, and times), but they can send you a hard copy of what you asked about. I hope this helps.
