Any September Banders?
You and me both. I am on day 7 and feel fine as long as I don't lay on my back. My port incision aches when I lay on my back. Also, I have a horrid time trying to get back up from that position. It is really odd to me since I don't hurt sitting up or walking around. I can get up from a sitting position with no problem. hmmmm I hope everyone has a wonderful day today!:cool2:

No One Told Me About this Lapband Side Effect
I am too new at this to answer your question about whether I will have that happen, but I do have a bad nose. I wonder if it has anything to do with sinus drainage or something similar. I mean, as you get full, the drainage is running out of places to go so your nose gets irritated. It is just a thought. I can only hope that I will such a stand out signal that it is time to stop eating. Awesome job on your weight loss!

clear liquid diet
I feel your pain. I started steeping herbs in my broth then straining them out before sipping. Also, today I made a pot of Soup for my family. I just took broth from that for my dinner. My surgeon's office said that if you know of a good brothy soup (i.e. hot and sour soup or egg drop soup), just strain the stuff out of it and have that for your clear liquid. Thankfully, I am now on full liquids which, according to my booklet, includes thin mashed potatoes or thin grits. It will be nice to have something other than broth and popsicles.

All Liquid Will Power vs. Dieting Will Power
For the pre-op diet, I knew it was only two weeks. I have always been able to do a diet for at least two weeks. I am in my first full week post op. The liquid stage is easier here because again, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Also, the liquid stage after surgery is to let your stomach heal with the band around it. If you eat too soon, you can cause damage to your stomach and risk complications with your band. The thought of having something go wrong with this now, keeps me on track. I was not hungry the first few days after surgery. I was just trying to get my liquids in to keep hydrated. I am hungry now, but it isn't taking even 1/2 cup of soup to have me feeling full. The thing about the band is, you won't be on a "diet". This will be a lifetime change with the aid of this wonderful tool. So instead of dealing with extreme hunger as I normally do with diets, I will have my band to help me get full faster and stay full longer.

Wearing pants post op
Although my incisions aren't near my pants line, my stomach is still very swollen 6 days out. My biggest issue is the bra line:cursing: (like others have mentioned). All of my incisions go right across my bra line. I don't know if the doctor was trying to put them some where that they could be hidden, but I have had to leave the girls unattended for now. Thankfully, I have not gone back to work yet.

What does your FILL count as?
After my insurance acted as though they didn't understand what I was talking about, they said that my doctor would have to get a prior authorization just like they did for surgery. I can't see that. I guess we shall see.

FitFlops - Anyone given these a try?
I have only seen them at Macy's, and they were always out of them. I don't know if that means that they are great, or if other people are just following the craze. I have wanted to try them though.

A Little Help Please About Drinking
I'm with Kiz on this one. I would think drinking water soon after your protein shake or carnation instant breakfast would simply wash it completely down before you ever get a chance to feel full.

Hair Salon Tipping..how much?
I like the Austraian way. I have to admit that after spending 3 to 4 hours at my hair salon, I don't feel like she needs a tip. She is getting $75 tp $100 for each of the 12 to 13 people that somehow get scheduled for the same time. I know every salon is not like this, but that is how the my hair dresser was.

I found out that those things you were looking at are for when you or other people are viewing your profile page. How can we have something to change fonts and colors for the profile page, but can't set a default font for replies and new threads. hmmmm Maybe that can be something that is added?

Time Off???
I'm taking 4 weeks off. I am on day 5 of post op and am glad that I have that time to heal. It will be funny if I go back to work a different size. Of course, I work with men so they won't notice it anyway.

SF Jello Gelatin and/or SF Jello Pudding ok?
No, you can have as much SF jello as you want. The thing is, on the day before surgery when you are ONLY allowed clear liquids, SF jello is actually on the allowed list. You are allowed as much of the clear liquids that you want during your pre-op diet.

SF Jello Gelatin and/or SF Jello Pudding ok?
I was told SF jello was ok, but not the pudding. For whatever reason, the SF jello is considered a clear liquid. I would say that this only applies to the day before your surgery though.

SICK OF LOOSING WEIGHT! (yes I really mean it)
I agree, you have done such a wonderful job losing half of what you wanted to lose. It may just be time to switch up your routine. Your body may have adjusted to your workout routine or you calorie intake. Maybe it is time to either raise or lower your calories for a few days a week to throw your body off balance. Maybe it is time to do a differenct workout (i.e. step aerobics if you normally do wateraerobics). I think this journey is only going to be what we make of it. I think you should be so proud of what you have accomplished. You haven't gained any weight. Just snap out of it and stop concentrating on the negative. The scale will start moving again.

How Are You Handling Not Eating/Drinking At The Same Time?
Actually, my doc doesn't want me to start doing that until week 3 after surgery. My instructions are to actually drink a clear liquid after every meal to rinse the pouch and keep food from just sitting there. On week three (mushies), I am to stop drinking right before my first bite, and nothing to drink until 1 hour after. As with every thing else, the amount of time differs per doctor. Just start practicing now, then it won't be a huge change for you later. Good luck on your journey!

1 day post op and scared
Was this your first time having surgery? If so, any other time that you have surgery, you want to mention that you had a really bad reaction to the anesthetic and will need meds from now on. I had a reaction the first time I had surgery and have asked for something since then. I hope that you continue to make progress in feeling better.

1 day post op and scared
Sorry, but NONE of the gas medicines have even touched my gas. Now I have this weird almost burp that is happening. It hurts. I can feel a burp coming, but it won't come all of the way up. I finally put a heating pad on my shoulder (that is where my gas pain is) and that seems to have helped a little. I hope you feel better soon.

Hunger
I know I started getting hungry Sunday night/Monday morning. I was really shocked because like rosemary3, I would always eat before I got hungry. I almost didn't recognize the feeling. I have also had head hunger though I was able to tell the difference.
