What you are going through is very normal. Most band patients do this. You really want to let that thinking go as soon as possible. You aren't giving up food forever. You will eat again. If you continue to eat this way, it will make it even more difficult to start your liquid diet when it is time. Also, depending on your doctor, you have to weigh at the very least what you did at the original consult. Some really prefer that you lose a certain amount of weight to show your comittment to your new lifestyle. I wish you the best. Just remember, you will eat again, just less.

It is good to know that you are doing ok. I know exactly how you feel about being full or not. It is really hard to tell at this point. I am glad that you aren't in a lot of pain. That is great about your weight loss. I came home weighing 5 lbs more than when I left. I expected that and am not concerned just yet. Keep up the good work.

I think it is normal for us to self doubt the decision to have this surgery done. I think we all, not only mourn the food, but the comfort that we got from the food. Our bodies have gone through some major trauma. I have started journaling my feelings. It doesn't matter if it is about food, or about some situation at home that I would normally use food to comfort myself from. I hope that in time, you will no longer regret your decision. I hope that we all are able to do well with this tool and benefit from it's usefulness.

This sounds so delicious. Do you think since it is blended in the food processor, that I could get away with this during mushies?

Hi. I am currently on one week of Clear liquids after surgery. I am rather curious how any one else got their calories in during this stage.:thumbup: I have been tracking my calorie intake, and it isn't that much. I have only had 80 calories so far today and found it hard to get that in. Any suggestions would be great.:frown: Thanks

I don't start that phase until next week, but my doc says to blend and strain the soups.

PCOS is not usually diagnosed with a blood test. They will also have to do an ultrasound to see if you have cysts on your ovaries. The cysts are what causes the hormone levels to be off balance. Check with your GYN if your regular doctor isn't taking your issues seriously enough.

You know, I hadn't given that a thought. That makes a lot of sense though. You might want to check your surgeon to know for sure, but that sounds like a real possibility.

I have heard that can work, but be careful. One of the possible side effects is that it can cause that area to grow out similar to a small penis. I am sure that doesn't happen to everyone, but it is a possibility. I hope that it works wonders for you.

I knew about my approval before the surgeon's office did. I started calling and emailing my insurance company the day my paperwork was sent in. The person that responded to my email request for information, actually set up a follow up with the medical review unit. They told her I had been approved a week before the process was complete. I was told on 08/25 that I was approved, but I didn't get the letter until 09/19. Thankfully, the insurance coordinator for my surgeon's office accepted the email as proof to schedule my surgery. I seem to only get stiff when I sit down for too long. It eases quickly once I am moving around. I don't have a babysitter today either. My husband went to work and my son is at school. It is really nice to have the house to myself. I found out that my job is allowing me to have 4 weeks off work to recoup. At this point, that sounds really nice. I would hate to go back to work too soon. My doc used some type of cement on me. I couldn't believe how hard that stuff is. I like that though. I had gallbladder surgery a few years ago and that doctor put steri strips on me. That did not hold together, so now I have some ugly stomach scars. I am thinking about buying some mederma (sp?) to put on all of the scars. You keep posted on your progress as well.

Hey. The gas is moving. I have been trying to get up every 30 minutes and walk the hall of my house. Every time I do that, a little more gas comes up. I can't seem to burp when I feel like it, but when I walk it seems to force it's way out. I still feel really good considering I had surgery. How are you doing? I know you are glad that the third boob is going down. Maybe you won't look like an alien much longer:tt2:. I know that you are glad to have something other than jello and broth. I have to stay on Clear liquids until next week when I have my first post op appointment. I am not really feeling hungry anyway which is a good thing. I don't have trouble drinking though. Did your belly swell after you got home? When I left the hospital yesterday, it looked ok, but when I got up this morning, the area right below my breasts is so swollen. I look pregnant! Egads! :wink2: I can't wait to see how it looks in a few weeks. Let me know how you are going!

I agree with Tamara. There is no way that I could go back to work that soon feeling this way. Although this is usually done laproscopically (sp?), it is still a major surgery on a very sensitive area. You don't want to over do it.

That is good that you are putting your foot down. Who would ever think that a doctor that took the oath to first do no harm, would be willing to let you possibly harm yourself by going to back to a demanding job too soon! Since you are her rock, she should be concerned enough to want you back full strength. I hope everything works out well for you.

No problem at all. I am glad that I was able to ease some of your fears. You will do great on Monday! Definitely keep us posted of your progress. It really helps to know that there are other people that you can speak to about what is going on with this new life and actually have them understand.

I am just working my way into day 2 of my banding. I felt wonderful yesterday. I really couldn't feel my incisions other than a slight twinge from the port site. This morning I am starting to get a little stiff. I am trying to make sure that I walk and stand straight. I am still waiting for the other shoe to drop myself. I hope that you continue to feel better and better each day.

This is a question best left to your surgeon. Each doctor has their own requirements that really should be followed the way that they give them. Just give the doctor's office a call and ask. That way you will know for sure what they expect of you. Good luck!
