  1. I had my pre-op testing today, and they said no to all of them. No jewelry, nails, or nail polish. Of course, as stated before, every place is different. Just call them and ask.
  2. Ok so I have decided on The Enforcer! I have a feeling it will do the job well!
  3. The Enforcer!
  4. I knew I could count on you. I will call them in the morning. I forced myself to drink another one a few minutes ago. Today was the first time that I didn't drink 6. It might have something to do with my upper GI today. I didn't want ANYTHING after that. Thanks Restless!
  5. I have always wondered if it can be genetic. Don't get me wrong, I know that I had to eat the McDonald's for me to wear it on my butt and belly, but I know a lot of skinny people that eat more than I ever have (my husband for example) and they never gain weight. On my dad's side of the family, only the women are severely overweight. On my mom's side of the family, everyone is overweight. My mom had 11 brothers and sisters. Of those still living, there isn't a single one that doesn't have type 2 diabeties, high blood pressure, etc. Now my generation is worse, I have had 2 cousins in their early 40s die of weight related deseases. That was a wake up call for me.
  6. Ok, I am on the pre-op liquid diet. I know that it can have dire consequences if I eat things that aren't allowed. What about if I am not taking it all in, do you think that can be a problem? My doc says drink 6 glucerna shakes a day. After drinking one per meal, I feel like I am swimming. I am getting my fluids in, but 6 shakes is really pushing it for me. Do you think that will be an issue, or should I force myself to do 6 shakes?
  7. No problem. My policy basically said the same thing that yours said. We can never know for sure until we ask! I hope everything turns out right for you!
  8. That does explain it a lot better. You still shouldn't beat yourself up. You did it mindlessly that time, but you recognized it for what it was. You didn't go and grab more. I think that is a step in the right direction. I think you did yourself proud! You stopped at one! We will all do that at some point. As long as you see it for what it is (something you shouldn't eat everyday), then you are ok.
  9. When they exclude WLS they usually spell it out saying that any type of WLS is not covered. What you quoted is usally for things like Weight Watchers, LA Weight Loss, etc.. If you can't find anything that specifically mentions WLS (mentioned as adjustable gastric banding and gastric bypass) then they probably have special qualifications. They won't list everything that they cover, but they will list what they don't. Call them and ask. Ask for it to be broken down and emailed to you. I emailed my insurance company, and they sent me a complete list of requirements for surgery. Good luck to you.
  10. Don't beat yourself up for one candy bar! :confused:You are allowed to have that sort of thing every once in a while. You just don't want to make it a habit. Just let that go and start over with your next meal.
  11. Thank you so much. I haven't named it yet. I have been thinking about it though. I am not very creative, so I am having a hard time coming up with something. I had my upper GI this morning. I have to admit, that barium was almost a deal breaker for me. I almost gagged drinking that stuff. :puke:I know, so gross. They gave me a barf bag and moved back. I almost laughed at that. Anyway, you will be there soon. We will be on this site next year and we won't even be able to remember what it was like before the surgery. Good luck to you, and I will keep you in my prayers also.
  12. Along with the band come alot of major changes in my life. I not only had this procedure done, but the same day I had it done was the last day that I had a cigarette. I have been smoke free for an entire month, and giving them up was alot easier than giving up my food, I will tell you that now. ________________________________________________________________________ Look at you! That is so awesome! I will be looking to your posts when I need encouragement next week! You keep up the good work!
  13. Ten pounds is awesome! I am down 6 pounds myself. I figure I probably have about 5 more pounds of my sh*t to get rid of.:crying: Keep up the good work!:wink2:
  14. Congrats on your big day! I just said a prayer for you. You will do fine! Good luck to every one else!
  15. Hey, I want instructions too! I already have the ball that has been rolling around my house for months. It can finally be put to some good use :-)
  16. I guess I got off easy. My evaluation lasted maybe an hour. I filled out a one page questionaire that took 5 minutes then answered about 50 questions about my history. That was it. we actually talked most of the time just about life with the band. I did pay for it, but it was just $95 for my psych evaluation and nutrition class. Good luck to everyone.
  17. I think I am reading that book right now! The book I am reading is called "Weight Loss Surgery with Adjustable Gastric Band." I just got it today.
  18. Don't crush my dreams. lol My GYN hasn't said no, but she isn't thrilled at the prospect at this point. sigh One day...
  19. Ham and cheese...:cool2: I am having surgery on the 25th. I was originally supposed to have it on October 2. They called me Monday morning to change it. I was so excited! Then it hit me, I can't have solid food again for over a month! I made a quick trip to the store and "splurged" for the bouillon with herbs. Ha! Just salty Water with herbs. :w00t: Me too!
  20. There is a thread under food and nutrition that lists quite a few.
  21. See, I think that is my problem. Since they moved my surgery up, I didn't get my one day of gorging that I had planned.:cool2: My mom's birthday is tomorrow, but she is having mouth surgery tomorrow:thumbdown:, so I knew that they were going to take her out to eat today. My surgeon's office calling on Monday really just threw me off. Oh well, that is ok because I am that much closer to a new start! Good luck to you too!
  22. Thank you so much. I will go today and see what I can find.
