    GoWalking,
I too thought I had a handle on my weight problem but obviously not. I sure love food and it was sweet to imbibe in the foods I'd sworn off for several years but I'll be 70 this year(I hope). Like to live another 10-20 but not gonna happen if I don't get control of this carb beast in my head.
Good luck with a new boyfriend. And no matter what we were told or what I told everyone on this forum, it's still a damn diet, only it's a little easier to manage with the band.

After many years, failed attempts and tries, I finally found my lucky number of 9 cc's. I was at 8 ccs with very little restriction and the ability to eat a whole cheesesteak without batting an eye. My surgeon took a chance and gave me that last cc. At the time of the fill after my sip of Water I had a little burp of air. He swore that I would be back for an unfill. Not until this last cc did I hit that perfect sweet spot.
All the instructions of sipping water, eat slowly high Protein make perfect sense to me, my light bulb went on. This is how I'm supposed to feel. I'm thrilled.
My last fill was right before Christmas and I didn't weigh myself yet. Monday is the first day. I'm confident I dropped weight.
Just so you know I'm not new to the band. I had mine in 2009. It truly is a lifetime of adjustments. Don't get down. Be sure to communicate with your doctor. Try a few more ccs. If it is too much, he can always remove the fill. If you have more questions pm me. I was you just a few short weeks ago. Again, it's amazing what 1 cc can do. No indigestion, discomfort, blockage etc. Best of luck.

Hi TMF. Glad to hear from you. I am also struggling. I've gained 25 lbs. over the last year. Between back surgery and a boyfriend, I'm making poor choices. I did finally decide that I want to get back into the clothes I don't fit into at the moment and have refocused. I'm going to get back to 135 lbs. and will be fine with it taking however long it has to. Oh how I remember saying I'd never get obese again but I can see how easy it is to head in that direction. So if I can nip this in the bud now with only 25 lbs. to lose, and not 125 lbs., that's what I'll do. Keep us posted on your progress!

Good to see some old faces. I had my band unfilled back in June after I had a stent put in an artery. I did OK but I'd gained weight due to not being able to exercise from a blocked artery. Had my surgeon put a few CCs in yesterday. Back on the Bandwagon again.
Sorry to crash your #7 but so glad to see some of the old crowd are still around. I've got to lose 30 lbs to get back to my fighting weight. I'll be lurking if you don't mind.

Not sure if most of you are aware but BariatricPal.com actually started off in 2003 as LapBandTalk.com! I've had Lap-Band surgery since 2003 and started this community the night I came home from my own Lap-Band surgery.
As mentioned in my recent article "Types of Bariatric Surgery: By the Numbers and What It Means" Lap-Band surgery has dropped 86.93% since 2011. There were still 7,310 new bands in 2016.
There isn't any perfect WLS. The band has been an awesome tool for me over the last 15 years. I've had minor complications along the way but nothing like the complications I'd have had walking around with an extra 100Lbs.

    Hi all -
I remember my first 2 weeks being pretty miserable. I was banded on 12/30/16, and have lost 92 lbs in the last 10 months! Hang in there and it will get better.

Most people who are successful with bariatric surgery keep it to themselves. It's the patients who fail that makes all the noise. So, your co-workers are getting their information from failures. Have any of your co-workers had the surgery, probably not?
Good luck I'm sure you'll make the right decision.

BTW- some satiety tips are runny nose, hiccups, burping.
And, if you did measurements on your body before surgery, you may be losing inches and adding muscle. This makes it appear you're losing less but you are losing more fat and replacing it with muscle. That's a good thing.

It took me 6 fills and 7 months to get to the green zone. Others hit it right after surgery. Some have taken over a year. Much depends on your doctor and how aggressive he/she is with fills?
Losing 4-6 lbs a month is quite average and many bandster's would welcome those results. But, if you want to know when you have hit the green zone, it's really a mental state more than a physical state.
Being one with the band or being in touch with your body physiology is so important with the band. Sometimes the most subtle signals slip right by a Bandster and many of them go on to not succeed as much as they had planned.
Here's how it works for me(and every one will be different): I fill my plate with as much as I should be eating but really I put too much on it usually. As I eat, I get to a state where I'm not really hungry any longer. I can stop now, and sometimes I do, and sometimes I don't. When I do, it's because the taste no longer satisfies me or my appetite has suddenly gone away or has been diminished. When I don't, it's old habits kicking in or the food is so stinking awesome I crave more. Obviously, I'm not paying attention now and I'm not in touch with my body or band.
So, it's a mind thing and paying attention to the signals my body is sending. It's not a big signal, so pay very close attention.
How big your band is or how much saline is in it is irrelevant.

I'm new to this site and I'm glad I found it! I've had my band since may of 08. I went from 314 pounds to 170. I've gained back about 53 pounds I had a small leak in my tubing and lost restriction had that fixed and lost about 13 of those pounds so far...the reason I haven't lost more since having it fixed is...me! I need start eating like I know I should and mooooving! I am still so grateful that I have kept off over 100 pounds! Love my band and don't know where I'd be without it!

2muchfun got a reaction from jea(n__n)ette in What is the deal on Carbonated Drinks?
The original purpose was that carbonation expands the stomach which they thought might cause slippage of the band and/or overinflation of the pouch. My doc still believes it does and recommends not to have them. I still have a few beers a week with no problems.
There are also many obese people who have surgery but over-indulged with carbonated drinks prior to surgery. And I mean like drinking 2 2 liter bottles a day. I think doctors recommend surgery patients avoid soft drinks simply because drinking them could lead to falling back into old habits. Also, gulping any liquids while eating causes food to slide through the band resulting in less satiety.

Thank you for your reply. I did really beat myself up about it and my first instinct was if I'm not losing weight eating healthy i may aswell go eat rubbish food, but thankfully I didn't. That's something I'm going to have to get use to then, and it's nice to hear that it doesn't just happen to me,I'm not as much of a failure as I thought. Thanks again ????

I can recall two members who had band w/plication. CarolinaGirl lost a couple hundred pounds. She went a good year or more before she though she might need a fill. I think she's still doing well, but she doesn't post here much anymore.
I've read other posts by members with plication and don't recall any of them having problems. Don't be surprised if you go several months with very little hunger and of course, very little room for food to displace. Welcome and have fun on your journey.

I have read posts on here in the past where someone will vent about the way people type their posts ... I always just read past it ...
    BUT ...
I have read a post in another section that literally didn't have the first punctuation mark in it ... and it was one huge paragraph ...
made it VERY hard to read and even understand the person ...
    Ugh.
    Sorry. Had to vent.

Hard to tell but most antibiotics are absorbed in the duodenum. Shouldn't take long for them to get into your system but antibiotics don't work as well as they used to. Mostly because germs and virus strains have developed immunities to many ABX. Maybe try another ABX?
ABX will only reduce pain if they do what they're intended to do and usually days after taking them. And only because they're killing germs or allowing the body to heal itself.
