Outpatient surgery on Friday, what should I take
Ok, It's not over night, but I should be home by 4pm. What should I take with me?? ideas?
-
I'm so depressed, I think this was the worst mistake ever.
Ok I skimmed a lot. First off if you are being real with yourself and honest about what you eat, I can see why you are totally frustrated. I do know it takes time for restriction, so you will hopefully get it soon. Maybe talk to a nutritionist about switching up what you are eating. Also, have you ever checked to see if you have pcos. www.soulcysters.com is all about pcos and such. It can really hurt with losing weight too.

Had to have my "infected" band removed two weeks after surgery
I don't know an answer, but I'm really sorry you are going through this!

Hi - New with Question
It always depends on the dr. office. I just have to do a liquid diet, not clear.
-
Cigna denied my surgery....
Ok,I find this frustrating. I'm sure you went in there and told them you are doing the diet for the lap band and they didn't write good notes? BS! ugh. I was a pain in my dr. arse. I kept saying, um make sure you document everything discussed, like exercise, nutrition, portion size..etc. I hope they'll do it.

preop diet day 2
and I'm so cranky. food is all I think about, and I'm so hungry. I know this will get better, but I think I may need to call the waaaahmbulance. My poor kiddos, I'm such a crab. just wondering if any other smashing pumpkins are joining in my pain and general gripeiness.

Lost control!!! :(
I so worry about this too! I'm still preop for a couple of weeks and that bandster Hell could kill me. All you can do really is move forward. If you put more guilt or resentment for it, then a cycle will start. Don't make it a vicious one. hugs. Hey, Ex Nebraska girl here and living in central IL now. go midwest girlies!

BCBS IL Question
I don't know for sure. I know they did say that it had to be for 5 years for me. What does your surgeon's office say?

Any October Bandsters!??!?!
I'm glad you are home Renita and doing pretty well. I hope you have a speedy recovery!

Pre-Op eating behaviors vs. Post-Op eating behaviors
This is a huge concern for me! I, too, am a carbaholic. For me it's breads, bagels, chips, brownies..etc. I swear I'm making myself crazy. i start the liquid diet on Saturday and I"m being horrible now.

Any October Bandsters!??!?!
I swear I blink and this thread gets bigger. lol I start my liquid diet on saturday and I'm ok with it. I've done a short stint of a month on liquid, so I know I can do it for a little bit. I'm starting to get nervous, not scared, just uneasy. I have to go get an EKG, chest xray and bloodwork for preop b/c of my age. I just turned 40. I love hearing that so many of you are doing well after surgery and that calms me down. Wishing us all luck. I know it'll be hard, but I love the quote. "There are no triumphs without struggle" So those triumphs will mean so much to us b/c we fought for them!

Who are you telling?
Friends, parents, inlaws, brother, and boss. I would tell the people I work with, but I teach and the small town I work in would find out in 5 minutes and I don't want a town of people watching me to see if I lose weight. so I'm up in the air about this one.

Pumpkin Smashers...getting to know you!!
Oh Sunshine, you have no idea how awesome that was for me. I've been so out of sorts worried and not feeling the hope I should have. After reading her, I feel calmer and more ready for the fight. Thank you so much for sharing that today!

Pumpkin Smashers...getting to know you!!
Thank you Sunshine! My worries lie in my last tries. I blame me, I've never worked at it hard enough. It was a struggle and time and time again I lied to myself and gave in to food. I want to know how to dig deep and make it work. I want it bad, but since I've given up so many times, ugh. i guess I want a sure thing, and nothing like that exists. I just hate that I lie to myself.

Welcome everyone! Knowing everyone will help me, I know. I have many fears, and not so much for the surgery. More about after the surgery and my abilities.

Pumpkin Smashers...getting to know you!!
I'll start. Hi, I'm Lori and I just turned 40. I have PCOS and have been overweight and then obese since I was 21ish. LIke all of you, I've tried most diets and as of late I started accepting failure. I think during my kid baking time I kind of let loose and allowed myself to give up. Well the kids are 5 and 3 (I'm a mature mom..lol) and I want to be more physical with them and have fun. I'd love to be thinner, but skinny is not my goal. I have a wonderful husband who is a fantastic father. He supports me, but I'm not sure he really gets all of it. I assume he will soon enough. I'm a teacher (5th grade), I love to read, music. I hate to exercise, but I know I have to. I just need to get over the hump. I'm embarrassed of my size, but confident in most of my life. I am very outgoing and outspoken. I have to try to monitor myself IRL. I'm very passionate about things and I love to laugh. I'm scared of failing again and I worry that I'll disappoint myself. I'm trying to get myself pumped up. I'm also afraid I'll be a raging bitch after surgery mourning foods. lol how about yoU?
