  1. OMG, that's what I don't want to experience. Thanks for sharing. I will not be eating bread unless it's super soft. Hope you're feeling better today. Have a great one!
  2. gg, you're funny. I busted out laughing about your "monstrosity" of a burp. I had so much gas that I really didn't care where it came out, I just wanted it out, no matter which end. Burps were difficult so when they came, I welcomed them. My problem now is, and I don't mean to be GROSS but I haven't had a BM since my surgery. What's up with that?
  3. Congrats and I'll be prayin everything goes well. You have done well with weight loss during your pre op diet. Your's isn't bad comapared to what I had to do; complete medifast, yuk. I would have loved to have been able to have a healthy choice dinner. Check in after surgery.
  4. I LOVE THIS FORUM!!! I find it to be so encourgaing and it really lets you know you're not alone on this journey. Thanks for all your replies. One more question, did anyone have a problem with not having a BM DAYS after surgery? I haven't since my surgery 4 days ago and that's not normal.:shades_smile: Any suggestions?
  5. When you say you've been sick, what do you mean? How do you know when you have food stuck?
  6. Good for you!!! You have great strenghth and determination. You are so right, all offices have parties and goodies and typically everyone is including in the pitch in; however when the goodies are being brought in constantly by the same individual on a regular basis, it does begin to look like sabatoge to the bander she's bringing it for. It may just be a feeling, but feelings are real and must be dealt with adequetely. Maybe the person feeling sabatoged should begin bringing in vegi and fruit trays.
  7. Thanks for sharing your story. I am really trying to keep my eyes on the prize.
  8. Hey, you'll have a 2 birthdays back to back. Happy Happy Birthday!
  9. If you like Wendy's chili, it's good pureed in the blender. Try it.
  10. You cannot conquer what you don't confront. Although you are handling it silently, some people don't take hints too well and do need to be confronted. This in NO WAY implies being rude or mean about it, but some people only understand if you bring it to their attention politely. I don't believe it should be done in front of other people; however, if it continues after continuing to give her gifts away, it may come to a private discussion and explanation. She may just need to understand your goals and your plans by which you plan to achieve them. Having that knowledge alone may encourage her not to bring certain things for you. The greatest gift we can give someone is the gift of our honest self. Hope this helps.
  11. Thanks for the encouragement you all. I was starting to wonder if this was normal or not. I hadn't said anything to my husband cause he would be like, oh boy not after I've paid $13000. I had to get this out so I could see that I'm not the only one having second thoughts. It's not like I can go have it taken out now anyway, so what am I thinking about. I feel like I'm going throught post partum depression. Thanks God it's not that though!!!
  12. It's interesting reading about others who have had the same regrets and how they made it through. Thanks for the encouragement!
  13. :lovechoc: I am 4 days post op and although I had my mind made up to do it, I have some regret due to the discomfort and pain I still feel. Just wondered if there were others who had regrets within the 1st 2 weeks post op but at some point stopped regretting and is now happy with their decision and what was the turning point? I am in no way planning to turn back, but gosh I'm so uncomfortable around my incisions and internally uncomfortable and just want to know from others experience, when does the discomfort go away and you feel NORMAL again? On a positive, I am losing weight.
  14. I was so happy to read your post here. When you mentioned you regretted being banded during the first 2 weeks because I'm just 4 days being banded and that's exactly how I've been feeling. That internal discomfort you have that makes it difficult to sneeze, cough, burp, shoulder pain, the incision discomfort and I could go on and on. I'm sure this all passes, but I am where you once were. It sounds like your experience got better after the 2nd week, is that correct? I have found the protein I really like and that's Wendy's chili pureed. It's filling and full of protein with the meat and beans. I am looking forward to being able to sit down to a piece of fish and some vegis. I was wondering if I was the only one regretting what I did. It's good to know it gets better. Thanks.
  15. I am in TOTAL agreement with you. I have been banded now for 4 days and I will settle for ordering off the appetizer menu or taking leftovers home. No one needs to know that I'm banded.
  16. Thank God you can do the Atkins diet. I was on 2 weeks of medifast and I thought I would pull my hair out along those around me. It was torturous to say the least. Best wishes to you.
  17. Yeah it was good. However, if it continues, you may have to be more direct, in a nice way. I agree with your sister. Trust me, she knows what she's doing. If I knew my co-worker just had weight loss surgery, there is no way I would be that disrespectful to bring in donuts, cappacinos with all that sugar and syrup. You've done great with your weight loss and it shows. 80 lbs is alot of weight loss. It's great you are trying to help her, but it sounds like you have given her the tools in which to do so. It's up to her to take the next steps if this is what she really wants. I'm reminded of a quote by Les Brown "Accept responsibility for your life. Know that it is you who will get you where you want to go, no one else."
  18. Just got banded September 2nd.
  19. You did quite well. I wouldn't have been as kind. I would have called her out on it. The saying is still true "misery loves company". Don't fall for that cheap trick. Hang in there and keep your goal in the forefront of your mind. :tongue2:
  20. Of course my husband who is my #1 supporter, my 16 year old daughter and made her promise not to tell anyone, 1 of my brothers and my godsister. I couldn't tell my parents cause my mother is so fearful and I didn't want her to have that worry on my surgery day. I have 2 step children who are on their own and I chose not tell them because I don't want them telling their Mom cause then she would tell everyone she knew.
  21. Remember, you just had MAJOR surgery. Although it's outpatient, you went under a general anestesia and that's major. I pushed myself. I was banded on the 2nd, rested on the 3rd, on the 4th went to the office and felt I had over done it. I'm self employed and do hair and makeup for local mortuaries. It's hard for me to turn those jobs down because I don't have a backup and I take pride in my work and don't really want anyone doing work for me. I also own an apartment complex and needed to be there to sign new leases. All in all, it was too much. I say you need a good 5-7 days recovery time; but that's up to the individual. Congrats on your surgery. Check in when you're able to.
  22. Hey, I was banded on September 2, 2008 (a couple of days ago) and I am experiencing not being able to burp although I feel the burp is there. I want to burp as I feel it is a normal function of our bodies. Has anyone had this issue shortly after being banded and if and when did it pass and you began burping again? :tt2:
  23. Don't eat or drink past midnight and pray for a successful surgery. Best wishes to you.
  24. Okay, thanks! Did you find walking to be the best remedy for gas? I'm struggling with that now, 2 days after surgery.
