anyone from indiana?
Live in Indiana, having surgery in Ohio. I hadn't heard enough about the Lap Band Doctors in Indiana, so I went where I heard loads of great things about the Dr. doing my surgery.

What is your surgery date? Let's keep a list.
Not a problem. I totally agree that you should celebrate this new birthday. I will be doing the same every September 2nd. Trust me, the clothes will be alot more attractive next September, guarantee! I think it would be a great idea for someone to organize a lap band weight loss cruise. I may start that as a new forum. Be looking for it. Anyway, my goal is to: lose 130 lbs be small and healthy live til I'm 100 buy a whole new wardrobe in NY city I live in Indiana and I am having surgery in Ohio. I'll check in once surgery is over.

My surgeon has me doing Medi-Fast for 2 weeks prior to surgery. This is what he has his patients on and has not had a problem as long as patient takes as prescribed.

Psychiatric eval
Well...at my psyc. eval. I had to complete a questionaire with over 300 questions. Questions such as: Do you have thoughts of harming yourself? Do you feel someone is out to get you? Do you enjoy harming pets? Do you love your Father? Do you love your mother? Did you steal as a child? etc... After that I talked to the Psyc. and he asks you about thoughts of harming yourself, depression, do you feel you understand the surgery and it's potential sided affects etc... If you are of sound mind, shouldn't be an issue. My husband was sure he was gonna send me home with Prozac LOL Aside from all those crazy questions on the questionaire, it was easy. Hope all goes well for you.

I love my band!!!!
WOW! You've done great! My trainer has always told me that you should change your exercise routine and do different things to confuse your body into weight loss. Your muscles get use to the same routine and it's not as effective. I think you're onto something with the bike. Best wishes.

Please recommend a COMFORTABLE, WIDE Bicycle seat
I hope to join your thread soon after I have surgery which is on the 2nd of Sept. Thanks for the invite. I noticed you had your surgery on my daughters birthday. You've done quite well with losing weight. Aside from the band, what else do you attribute your weight loss success to? Congrats!

Please recommend a COMFORTABLE, WIDE Bicycle seat
I haven't purchased a bike yet. What is the difference between the standard bike and a hybrid? I have my surgery Sept. 2nd and would like to start riding in a local park with a rolling terrain. My current weight is 279 but I plan to lose some on the pre opt medi-fast diet. Thanks and I hope to see you on the Bicycle forum.

Please recommend a COMFORTABLE, WIDE Bicycle seat
I have never been able to find a comfortable enough bicycle seat to ride a bike so I sold all our bikes. Is there a recommendation on a bike with a comfortable seat or a comfortable seat sold separately. It needs to be wide to accomodate my wide behind.

Things I won't/don't miss about being Obese
Things I won't miss and look forward to ~ I won't miss wearing a girdle because thighs rub together  I won't miss shopping at ANY plus size store (Lane Bryant, Avenue, Asheley Stewart) I won't miss Walking by a mirror and shaking my head at myself and thinking how disgusting and unattractive I am. I won't miss dropping food on my top cause my boobs are in the way I won't miss fearing having to ask for a seat belt extension on the airplane I won't miss my nieces hugging me and saying "juicy juicy" (innocent) I won't miss avoiding going to events with my husband I won't miss running into old friends who either don't recognize me or say "girl you've gained weight" I won't miss not being able to wear cute sylish shoes cause my feet are too wide and swollen I won't miss not having any energy Things I look forward to ~ I look forward to going to school with my daughter and the kids telling her "your mom is pretty" Comfortably wearing a cute bathing suit in public Wearing short (which I avoid) Getting a convertible 2 seater and feeling like I can get in and out without looking like I stuffed my self in it. Wearing cute sexy lingere I'm looking so forward to using this tool to become a healthier, happier me.

Highly recommended new 2008 book on the lap band
I am highly considering the surgery. What important points stuck out the most to you in this book? Have you had the surgery? If so, how did this book help you?

What has weight kept you from doing?
Hmmmm, where do I start. It's kept me from crossing my legs, riding roller coasters at amusement parks which I LOVE to do, looking really cute and sexy, (although my husband tells me I do) I've never been able to really play with my daughter now 16 for which I feel guilty, I avoid business luncheons and dinners with my husband, I'm scared to death of going on another plane after having to ask for a seat belt extension. That was the most humiliating thing I've experienced. I actually had my husband go get it for me, but I already had people looking at the fact that I couldn't fasten the seat belt and pretty much broke out in a cold sweat from embarrassment. Need I go on. I am attending a seminar on Saturday and hope to be banded by September 08. Yall pray for me.

Smothered Crockpot Meatloaf!!
What do you do with the fat that comes off the hamburger? Is it absorbed by the mashed potatoes? Just curious.
