Living Abroad Alone
I am a bit of a lurker in the background, am active in the April Bandits, but have seen your threads around a lot and read them, I think it is amazing and you are banded and so far from home, I really admire you. I am here in New Zealand, spend most of my time travelling overseas for work and I am struggling, don't even know how you must be coping with lack of food etc, wanted to write this to say there are many here who know who you are and are with you. I hope things are better today, it is hard being hard overseas, there is so much poverty, it kills me sometimes, but love to read about your adventures, hope you are better now Love Amourette!!!!

April Bandits, It's July!!!!!!!
You have done fantastic, my biggest loss was with the pre-surgery diet.............. Yoda!!!.......glad to hear that is per week, was thinking wow, at that rate it will take you years hehehe! I had another fill yesterday, struggling with thick liquids at moment, so I will wait a couple of days and see if it gets any better........today I had to fly and I felt quite tight, hardly ate all day, but wasn't hungry either...hmmmm:phanvan Yes, I had only lost less than a kilo, but the nurse said that was ok, since I was on holiday and hadn't gained at least. How was everyones day today??

April Bandits, It's July!!!!!!!
Hi everyone, I have been on a 2 week break up to Atlanta, Georgia to see my family and my one year old niece, it was very exciting, she is soooo cute. She is one of the reasons I have embarked on this journey as I don't want her to have a fat aunt! Boy, was it hot up that way though, in the 100's, quite unbearable, I feel I must have sweated off ten pounds alone (no I didn't )! I have another appointment tomorrow, think I may have a small fill, it was very hard staying with someone for 2 weeks, as they noticed my eating habits were quite different and they love to drink wine with their food. I think they suspect something, but I wasn't telling, didn't find the right moment. How is everyone else doing? XX Amourette:D

Band friendly recipes
I will go and have a look now, although it is usually very expensive to order the same books down here, they usually have a huge mark-up!

Some simple cold treats for hot weather.
What is 'cool whip' exactly, is it healthy? I live down under and we don't have this. But I have access to it..........would you recommend it, does it have artificial sweetner? Sorry all the questions, thanx!!!!:phanvan

Where do we find this book? Is it available from mainstream bookstore, can we find a copy down here in new zealand/australia? Any help would be appreciated as this is also my hardest problem at the moment! Cheers!

Peaches, watermelons, cantalopes - Oh my!
:cry I live in New Zealand and it is mid-winter here, so not much at all, fruit or vege-wise at moment. A lot of pumpkin etc........you are all so lucky, thinking of all your summer treats right now, I am visiting my sister in Atlanta next week and I hope the cherries are ripe and ready to go for me, oh and seedless watermelon, we can't get that down here............!!!! Enjoy! :clap2: :clap2:

April Bandits, It's July!!!!!!!
Hi to all of the April team, I was going to start this a couple of days ago, but it wasn't July there yet, where you all are hehehe!!! How is everyone. I am doing well, back working for my airline, I have to be really careful eating on board, I am convinced the band works more in the air, due to pressurisation, I have to be soooo careful, no big faux pas yet!!! My weight loss is slow, so slow I don't think I have it registered in the running weight loss, I wanna take it all in my own time, and I have lost, and I am happy for that. I don't wanna make it into a competion by comparing myself with other people. I have to downsize my uniform by 2 sizes so that is great, think I might see if I can get a tweak in the next few days, luckily my surgeon is only 10 mins away!!! Does anyone live up Atlanta way? Cheers and thinking of you all!! Fi aka amourette!:clap2:

April 2006 Bandits June Gab Fest
I have been a bit quiet recently, so here is today's update! Had 2nd appointment today with nurse, didn't need a fill, I had lost 3.5 kg the last 4 weeks, which I only thought I had lost 2 kg, so the nurse was pleased and I am sometimes struggling with food, so I didn't feel I needed a fill either..........I feel a bit that it isn't much to lose, but know I have to do it slowly, how do the rest of you feel, are you losing weight at the same rate as me............ Love Amourette!!

Third Time is a Charm?
Glad to see you still on here, sorry you are having difficulties with your fills, I was wondering even if you are hungry, have you been losing weight in that time..........? I had my 2nd visit today, didn't get anymore fill, as I feel I am still coping with the fill I have. I only lost 3.5 kg this last 4 weeks but I know I should be patient. xxamourette:D

April 2006 Bandits June Gab Fest
You look great Eficka, and you look so much happier also.........I must get my photos done also.......except I took the first in underwear and regret it now , hahaha!!! I have an appointment on Monday, I fitted into my denim skirt this last week, but I think she might give me a small fill as I haven't lost much on the scale. i am off to Atlanta to see my sister, and want to look good for that, she doesn't know I have had it done, but I will probably tell her, as I think she is pretty suspicious anyway. Also I had a photo last week, and I could see cheekbones, yipee! And I need a smaller uniform for work. I could do better though and get more exercise! HOw is everyone else!?

April 2006 Bandits June Gab Fest
Hey Picardy it is nice to see you around here...............our first official bandster!!!! I am fine everyone this end, had my first fill, feeling ok, but have to be careful what I eat, 'cos a lot of things are hurting to go down. I am back flying now, just done my second trip.........bellies bloat a bit in the air and I am having to be careful about putting things into my mouth without thinking........and ended up in the toilet a couple of times not feeling good. Have put away the scales for now, as I was over-obsessing with the numbers, but need new trousers for work now and just fitted into my denim skirt again, very exciting, wish I was eating a bit better now! Lots of hugs to everyone Fi XX aka amourette

Post Op Liquid Diet Recipe Ideas
Hate to be a party pooper, but why would you all want to make a soup with cream and butter , they are big no-no's down where I got banded, I wasn't even allowed cans of soup, or 98% fat -free as they aren't necessarily healthy.........oops meant cream and butter big no-no 's anyway........taste great I admit, but there are ways to thicken your soups without this! Just don't want you guys to jeopardise your diet goals!!!!:omg:

Disneynut you are right.....isn't it amazinf how time passes, and how nervous we were all to the countdown of the days till surgery! ROBERTA, please let me know where you are going? ARe you off on holiday! So all I had my first fill on Thursday, which I hadn't expected, couldn't keep anyting down for Friday, went to Singapore Monday till Wednesday ( don't forget we are ahead in time zones here), ate reasonably well although I was worried with the altitude, was fine on board, but on the ground back at home today couldn't even keep hummus down, I read someone elses thread that said the band can change from day to day.....I am starting to believe that! I am not looking at scales anymore, hope you guys won't do the same either and focus on better, healthier food. Will let you know how the flying goes for me.......interestingly enough after 6 weeks surgery, I found it difficult to bend up and down and put dirty trays back into the cart, should get better soon. Waiting to hear from you all, I think we should get the June chat goiing soon, any takers!? Amourette XXX:)

April Bandits 2006 May talk
I have been a bit quiet lately..........I have been moving house, what a nightmare, especially when I can't lift heavy things........I have had to do a lot of 'supervising' instead!!!!!! I go Thursday for my check-up, I don't think a fill is soon for me either........my tummy is still very tender, and I feel this weird lump in my throat, hope it is just my imagination! I have stopped weighing myself, I have decided it isn't worth it at this time......so I put the scales away. I will resume when I get my first fill and things start moving again properly. I don't have much restriction and seem to be able to eat anything, so have decided I will have to get a nutritionist who works in this area to help me. Other than that it is very rainy and miserable down here........lots of storms!:rolleyes
