  1. Ooh I was asking if it was prescription because I figured if you could just pick it up at store you would have just done that. Hummm. Is the prescription part of the pharmacy closed? Perhaps the doctor on call can call in another liquid pain medicine?? If not, it seems like his office could tell you if crushing a tablet would be okay. It was fine with my surgeon. He told me if I had trouble swallowing any of my rx I could crush them but I would still ask your team to be sure.
  2. I didn’t really need much. I did purchase a long phone charger cord for the hospital on Amazon. Also if you don’t have a blender you may want it for puree phase (depends on if you are the type of person that has consistency issues with food-I do so I couldn’t eat blended food). I did find the disposable cups handy from Amazon that are 2 oz with lids. Made it easier to measure and store food early out. The hospital gave me a stomach binder but some people say that they purchase those online. You will definitely want a few protein shakes (a variety) on hand for the full liquid phase but don’t stock up too much cause our tastes change sometimes especially for sweet stuff post surgery.
  3. Is it an rx?? If it’s rx they should be able to get it refilled by another doctor on call. Did you ask about getting more of the liquid. I was able to take pills right off the bat but I didn’t have anything as large as a Tylenol. They do sell pill crushers at Walmart and taking it with applesauce seemed like a good suggestion.
  4. I met with my surgeon at an earlier appointment and I did see him again at a preop appointment but I didn’t have to do any medical stuff except labs. They require ekg and stuff like that as needed. If you don’t have any medical issues or risk factors you probably won’t need one.
  5. I am 8 Almost 9 months out and I can pretty well drink the same as I did pre surgery. It gets much better as time goes by. By 3 months I could down a drink within like 5 or 10 minutes. Also I don’t think it’s a problem that you add flavoring to your water. There are those who think that artificial sweeteners are bad but I believe most bariatric programs say that they are okay. I don’t drink anything but crystal light.
  6. Well I’m sure you went through all the same steps as everyone else you just did them faster. It’s pretty typical to be nervous even for those who have waited years to get a date but if you really don’t feel ready you can always ask for a later surgery date.
  7. They sell BP cuffs at Walmart that are pretty reasonable. They also have the machines at some stores depending on how often you are there or how convenient that is. I would definitely check it a couple times just to make Sure it is not dropping too low.
  8. Would the scan be covered by insurance if it was ordered by an ER doc? Sometimes the rules are different in an emergency??
  9. Are you taking them with “food” or a shake at least? I was actually okay with that one without food but the pro care health I take now I got sick when I didn’t take with “food”. Now I drink my protein Shake entirely before I take it and I’m fine. Some people need to take it with dinner.
  10. You could ask your surgeon if it would be helpful to get his office those reports but it seems like they would’ve said something.
  11. I think you really do want to just get that new sea doo. ?
  12. Ooh good. I have heard others on here suggest going back to the previous stage of food to see if that goes down better. Hopefully your doctor calls back soon though.
  13. Feeling better then getting worse doesn’t sound normal. Have you contacted your surgeon?
  14. If I were you I would skip The vitamin for a couplE days to see if stool returns to normal.
  15. There are others out there who didn’t have to do a pre op. Some did one on their own. You could use that time to detox from sugar and carbs and make it that much easier on yourself post surgery.
  16. If they were not already overbooked and needed work I would agree that they may be tempted to keep you coming back but they make quite a bit more money on the initial assessment than follow ups. Money wise it’s in their best interest to see you once and send you on your way. I have been on these boards for 8 months now and I have heard of very few people who had more than the one session before being cleared.
  17. lol. It’s not really a pass/ fail type thing. If they do find an issue then they work with you until the issue is resolved or stable and then you get the surgery. Even mental illnesses like bipolar disorder which used to disqualify you from the surgery do not anymore as long as they are being treated and you are stable.
  18. The purpose of the psychological assessment is to find any undiagnosed mental illness, substance abuse or eating disorders that may make you unsuccessful or even endanger your health post surgery. The MMPI is a very reputable tool to help with that assessment. It’s unfortunate that your clinic doesn’t have a handful of doctors that they use but if they are requiring one that uses the MMPI it sounds like they are trying to make sure the assessment is not a waste of your time and money. My psychological assessment was a joke I did not do any written testing and the talking portion of the assessment lasted about five minutes. They did not even ask me anything about my eating habits or expectations from the surgery. Post surgery I learned that I have issues of emotional and boredom eating that I wish someone had picked up on Prior to surgery. I am slowly losing the weight but I worry if I don’t get to the root of those issues soon that I will be one of those who Regain. I would probably be frustrated about the three months too but in my opinion your team is looking out for you by making sure the doctor they use Does a thorough evaluation. If it were me I would ask them if they have a cancellation list or if you can call ever so often to see if they have any new openings.
  19. Try mixing the crystal light flavors or mix it with more water than it calls for. You can test this by just adding more water to half a glass of it so you don’t waste a whole packet. Also if you mix a gallon it takes two packets normally so you can mix two different flavors. I like the fruit punch but it’s too sweet but not sweet enough if I mix with more water so I mix fruit punch packet with the more mild watermelon one that’s Walmart brand and it’s just right. I sound like Goldilocks lol.
  20. So glad they figured out what was going on. Get well soon.
  21. I am 42, 5’8” started at 235, currently 169 and losing and I do not have any loose Skin nor did I lose any hair yet and I am almost 9 months out. I was very lucky in recovery and i was able to get my protein in from day one (i think that helped with the hair) I imagine if I get too much smaller I may still get some loose skin but like catwoman said it should not be extreme. My NP said just not to expect to have a six pack. Fingers crossed. I think that’s really all we can do.
  22. Here is a cheaper set. BRIGHTFROM Measuring Cups, Set of 4, Colored https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08S7QDHYB/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_17HT8W4KYA77V7WXP0EY
  23. Don’t stock up with too much stuff pre up though, our tastes can change. Especially for sweet stuff like protein shakes. Those shakes I loved pre surgery tasted disgusting afterwards.
  24. When I told my best friend I just blurted it out. She is obese too and has struggled with weight since I met her so she gets it. I understand it’s not that easy since you already mentioned the hernia repair but hopefully you can explain that to her just as you did to us. That you didn’t know her that well back then and just didn’t feel comfortable sharing yet but now you want her to know everything. And I wouldn’t think as your roommate and friend that she would have a problem knowing more personal stuff about you than your other coworkers. She probably already does.
