  1. It’s best to stick to your surgeons plan but caffeine is very controversial. Some people are offered caffeine for breakfast in the hospital and others are not allowed for months or even a year post surgery. I used to drink a 12 pack of Coke Zero a day and thought I would die without my soda but I weaned myself off starting a few months before surgery and honestly it is nice to not be dependent on something to keep me going. I did go back to one caffeine (caffe latte) shake in the morning just because all the others tasted too sweet but I am able to wake up without it if I have to.
  2. Welcome Herenia. I have found this group to be the absolute best resource for information as well as support. I hope you do too.
  3. Congratulations to all the APRIL surgeries on your surgery date and good luck on your journey.
  4. You WILL be able to eat again. Eventually normal serving sizes even. Not the double or triple servings that restaurants generally serve but you will be able to eat a normal portion of that and take the rest home. I am 11 months out and I eat about one serving of most things.
  5. Hello Shelley and welcome. As mentioned there are many great threads here. One that I think is especially helpful to calm the nerves immediately before surgery is called “weirdest non scale victories”
  6. I think alcohol lowered my inhibitions to eat too. I just responded to another post about alcohol and said post surgery I don’t like the taste of alcohol anymore and can’t seem to drink it fast enough to get a buzz anyways so it’s sorta like what’s the point? I am actually glad I no longer like it cause I know it’s a waste of my calorie budget and I think it makes me eat more.
  7. Since my sleeve surgery I do not enjoy drinking anymore. Without soda it tastes bad and I can’t get a buzz anyways so it’s just a poor tasting waste of calories. I am sorta glad because I Know it’s not the best thing for me anyways.
  8. I hate having my photo taken as well and I did have my husband take a couple but not the angles that I would like to have now because I didn’t want him to see them. I didn’t think of it but later my aunt said why didn’t you ask the nurse at your doctors if she minded taking a few photos. I thought that was a great idea.
  9. Definitely call your doctor then.
  10. Are you sick to your stomach because you are sad about your dog or do you have actual pain? If it’s pain I agree with lizonaplane that you should call your doctor.
  11. So sorry for your loss.
  12. I am 11 months out and have only thrown up once and that was cause I took my multivitamin on a partially empty stomach.
  13. Early out I had to use the soluble fiber in my crystal light every morning. Walmart generic for benefiber.
  14. I think it was the hiatal hernia repair that explains most everything. Similar recoveries and post op diets even. Double check cause I’m not 100% certain but I think that was it.
  15. Congratulations on your surgery date. March 9th 2021 here and what a year it has been. I am currently 13 pounds from goal and sorta stuck there. I think my body has found it’s happy weight and I may need to add in more exercise to get to my goal but I couldn’t be happier about my progress so far.
  16. Walking is really the best thing you can do for the gas pain.
  17. Yea if insurance has approved already it’s just a matter of them getting around to calling you. I would’ve been calling if I were in your shoes.
  18. It shouldn’t take long. They may have to get approval from insurance first (if that applies) but they should give you a date as soon as they get that. When the date is will vary based on how busy your surgeon is.
  19. I wouldn’t pay it unless your contract states that you will be responsible for additional or unforeseen charges (which it very well may if you read it carefully). Regardless, I would try to set up an arrangement to make payments because it’s interest free.
  20. I agree with others. The sleeve is just a tool. If you eat bad you will gain it back. I just lost my grandma and within three weeks of eating slightly bad I gained FOUR pounds that I have to lose again. That’s how easy it would be to gain it over a pound a week and I wasn’t even eating As much as my always been skinny family members. Not trying to be negative just saying that the sleeve doesn’t do all the work for you. It is very easy to choose to eat around it. That being said, it is much easier to make the healthy choice while the hunger hormone is gone (that is fine for MOST people but not all immediately post op for several months). So me for example in the past would’ve thrown up my hands and kept on gaining until I gained it all back but this time I have nipped it in the bud at four pounds and I am working on losing them again plus the 9 more pounds I have to lose to reach goal.
  21. You may not have any food that don’t agree with you. I didn’t. I can eat everything I ate prior to surgery without issues. If you don’t have any pain or discomfort and you are following your plan then you are tolerating it fine.the weird noises are probably just your body digesting. I get them ALOT more than I did pre surgery too. And not all sleevers dump either. I am 11 months out and have had candy bar and still haven’t.
  22. I have never heard of breakfast nachos. Breakfast burritos yes but not nachos. Good idea to change it up.
  23. I have never heard of that procedure but I think with all the surgeries that rate of weight loss is very individual. I had sleeve and I was a slower loser. I have heard people who continue to lose for quite some time (like two years out) though so if you stick to the plan the weight should come off even if slower than you hope.
  24. If the prescribe them to sleeve patients too not everyone does this. I didn’t have to take them post surgery even for a short time. They always ask about reflux at post ops but I haven’t had any issues.
