  1. I haven't nor will I ever eat fast food again in my life. Not just because of the surgery, but because I know its just bad all the way around. I figure I have gone 9 months without out so I can just keep doing it.
  2. I didn't know you could bring your own dressing to a restaurant?
  3. I have finally discovered what my system does not like and can not handle. It is anything with the ingredient Maltitol. It is a artificial sweetener, and makes me sick, cramping, bloated, and have diarrhea. If anyone is having belly issues, check the things your eating for this ingredient. I had to change my protein bars to a different brand, as well as a few other things. Thank you for those of you who brought this to my attention. I appreciate it more than you know. My belly thanks you.
  4. Great advice! Looking at the menu online is a great idea. Also eating lighter for other meals during the day is something I never thought of. Thanks
  5. My taste totally changed after surgery. I would suggest waiting at least a few months out to start stocking up on stuff. My husband literally bought me one of every brand of yogurt they sell at the stores. I hated all of them. Around month 6 was when I could start eating "normal" again. Meaning I actually started liking the stuff I was eating before surgery (healthy stuff).
  6. If you only eat once a day it makes your metabolism slow down. Your belly has nothing to burn off.
  7. I am 9 months out and still use portion containers. It helps me to stay on track.
  8. I am 9 months out and still have a problem with eating any types of meat. It just seems to sit in my belly like a rock. I haven't eaten pork since my surgery. I tried to eat ground beef a few diff times and it wasn't as bad as other meats. Probably because its ground up. I used to eat chicken breasts all the time before surgery, and now can not because its too dry. I can only eat chicken thighs once in a while and eat just a small portion. It is different for everyone. You will know what you can tolerate at the time. Just don't push it or you will feel sick.
  9. Mine lasted from months 4-6. It stopped after that. Now I am in month 9 and its actually growing back and getting thicker again.
  10. Hello all. I am 9 months out and still have not gone to a restaurant. Mainly because of Covid. Now that it seems to be getting better, I am still very leery about it. I am so afraid of not being able to find something I am able to eat. I know that most places try to accommodate people with special diets, allergies, etc. but I have never done it before, and a little embarrassed also. I am looking for some advice on what other people do when they go out. How do you discreetly order without saying, No butter, no salt, none of this or that without feeling weird about it? I don't want them to think that I am being "too picky" or a pain in the but. Better yet, I am afraid that my order would still have the stuff I can't eat on it and I would not be eating healthy and the way I am used to.
  11. I wonder if its different with sleeve's vs. bypass?
  12. Be careful with the crystal light. It has artificial sweeteners and can give you a belly ache.
  13. What does the ingredients say for artificial sweeteners? I can't read it.
  14. Hey that's right! I never even thought about it that way. LOL
  15. Oh that's a good idea. I have been eating all raw ones, but I do miss the salt.
  16. My goal was to reach 135 and now I am at 131 at 9 months out. I don't like the way I look or feel at this weight. I wish I would have stopped losing around the 140-145 mark. That is when I felt better about the way I looked. Now I am trying to stop losing and just maintain and having a very hard time with it. I believe you will know what you feel comfortable with at the time.
  17. I was on Trazadone before the WLS and it made me gain a lot of weight. You could be experiencing anxiety? Check with your doc. There are lots of meds for it that don't make you gain weight.
  18. Hello everyone has stalls at different times of their weight loss journey. It is completely normal. I have had several. Some have lasted a week, and others have lasted 3-4 weeks at a time. It is very discouraging but if you stay on track, you will keep losing. Your carbs and calories seem very high to me. I am 9 months out and my carbs don't go over 20, protein is 90-100, and calories is around 800 at the most per day. I know we are all different, and on different eating plans. I am not a doctor, but my advice would be to try to increase your protein, eat less carbs and calories and watch what happens. Good Luck
  19. I was told that there is no such thing as "stretching your belly out". My surgeons staff told me that is a myth.
  20. I am up at 6am every morning and I drink 1/2 of my daily water intake before breakfast at 9am. Then if I get busy during the day I only have to worry about drinking the other 1/2 before I get to bed. I drink 1/2 gallon per day with no problems.
  21. Try to take some Miralax for the next couple of days and see if that works. That I what I had to do. It will take a few days to work though.
  22. I was diagnosed with a thyroid issue back in 2007. I have been on levothyroxine ever since. Before the WLS I was taking 150 mcg. A few months after surgery the doc decreased it to 137 mcg, now this past week she decreased it to 112 mcg's. My question for anyone who has had something similar is, does this ever completely go away so that you are no longer required to take meds for it?
