Well, I went to the Dr. and got the staples out. They are still red but feel SOOOOOOOO much better.Doc said no serious infection. It was oosing a little, he said to wash good, keep clean and it would be fine. So, I will put more pictures up when it gets better. I will probably put that in a scar thread too. I am starting another thread with some other problems/questions that I have. Yall might can help me with that too. Thank you! To: TheWomanWithin I do no think that every Dr. uses the same. Some use stiches, some use derma bond, some use staples.

Hey Everybody! I called my Doc this morning and I am going this afternoon. He is going to take the staples out today and if there is infection he will treat it. (That is what nurse said) I want to thank everyone who gave advice, cause I was a total wreck! I could not sleep at all last night, I was up till 2ish. Oh well. Well I will let yall know what he says this afternoon. I am a quick healer so my feeling is that it will be fine, even if it may have some slight infection. One more question. Those of you who have had stapels. Or nurses? Is there any trace of the staples after you are healed. Like scaring or anything. I think they are called track marks? But I think that is only if they are left in an extened amout of time, right. I had someone email me and explain something like this. Well I heal and don't scar alot so I am not to worried but I am just curious. At first my incisions looked GREAt and I was so excited of how they were hardly visible. Besides the staples. Now I am a little disappointed becasue of the redness and inflamation. I will let yall know this evening how it all went!!!! Thanks so much

I think you are suppose to average 2 to 3 pounds per week. You are doing fine. Just keep on keepin on and it will start coming off again.

I have been putting neosporin on them since I left the hospital. He said that was ok. I have the tool to take out the staples. I know how to do it. I have done it before. I have a friend who is a nurse and I have learned alot from her. Don't want you to think I am just going to go nuts and start doing something i know nothing about. So... if I have to I can take them out. What do ya think?

Ok, I was banded on 4-17-06. I am feeling fine..... But everyday my skin is getting more and more irritated, just around the staples. My next appointment is Friday the 28th. My Dr. is 2 and a half hours away so I can't just go and let him look at it. I need a nurses opinion or something. I know most of you are going to say, check with your Dr. I know and I will. But I need to know if I am over reacting or what. So look at the pictures and please post or email me. I am going to see if my Dr. will let me email them some pictures before I have to drive for nothing. If it is nothing. I know that my ears do the same thing when I wear earrings, unless they are 14 or 18 ct. gold. (I hate gold) I am scared that they will get infected and then my incisions will get infected too. I am so worried and I am crying while I write this. I paid 15,000 for this and I am so scared that I will have to pay more to get it out. ok, ok, ok. sorry. I have lost 13 or so pounds since the 17th.

If nothing else the support boards tell you to get off your butt and exercise. No one on here that I know of has said don't exercise, eat more, and enjoy being fat. It's the exact opposite. Some People come here when they are hungry and type their feelings instead of going to the kitchen and eating tons of food. I am irritated just typing this so I am going to stop. My mom always says, "Everything in moderation"

When yall say liquids that means yall are allowed to have protein shakes and soup and stuff. My Dr. says clear liquids for 2 weeks. Like water, broth, gatorade. No protein or soup or anything. I am not really hungry but I feel horrible. So I really want to have a protein shake. I have been reading and reading, I don't see how I can do this for another week and still walk.

I was banded on April 17th. I am doing great. I am at work today so.. I guess that's good. I have lost 10 pounds in about 5 days. I figure when I can eat the mushies I might gain some back. I have been on clear liquids for a week now. I am still pretty bloated in my stomach but maybe it will go down soon. I think the 10 lbs came out of my boobs! YEAH!!!! maybe it's just me but they look alot more saggy than they did last week. Oh well, I don't care. Well, what do I say. I had surgery Monday April 17th in Birmingham, AL. I am so happy. I feel alot better than I thought I was going to. I have a question for those who have already done this. I have this weird feeling in my stomach/chest like I have to burp or hic up or something. It kinda hurts but it goes away pretty fast. I am still on clear liquids so is it just my stomach growling or something. I have not had any nausea so far.:clap2: Any advice is welcome!!!!!!! I was tired of being fat and decided to do something about it. I got off my butt and started exercising. This is what I plan on saying. It's true

I am a size 20 or 22 (5' 11") I wore a 20 in Old Navy Jeans today. I want to be in a size 8 or 10. We have this thing every year. It is called the River Festival, it is the last week end of April. Well I have not went for 2 years cause I am so fat and I live in a small town so you see everybody in the world, people you have not seen in years!!! SO my goal is to be a size 8 or 10 by next years River Festival so I can go and feel normal again. I live in South Alabama so it is real hot, everyone is wearing shorts and tanktops and some bathing suits. So I would just look stupid if I was wearing jeans or something. I am scheduled for Lap Band on April 17th!!!! Be Honest, for those of you who have done this, is this a realistic goal? I promise I will exercise and eat right and really do everything that I am suppose to do. This is a real question so please answer it. I want to set realistic goals for myself but I can't without having input from others. Thanks Yall

Everyone's situation is different. Some people can keep off weight and others can't. In my situation I got extreamly sick and gained 80lbs in 3 to 4 weeks, before that I was thin and exercised everyday and did not have a problem. After I gained weight, it got to hard to exercise everyday and so on...... I am just saying that it is different for everyone. I know for me I can keep off the weight when I loose it.

I guess the reason why I am so terrified of this subject is because I am paying $15,000 for my band, so if something goes wrong it will cost me another 5 or 10 thousand to get it removed or "fixed" I am willing to pay 15 for the band but I can't imagine paying to get it removed and then paying to get another one. I could not spend 40 thousand or how much ever it may cost to do all this. So I am praying that this is the right thing for me, I don't expect it to last forever but I would like 5 to 10 years, I hope by then I will know how to eat and can keep off the weight myself. Gastric Bypass is not an option for me, and will never be so it is this or nothing. I am planning that in about 5 years I will have to pay to have it removed, if I get longer great, but it is all worth it to me. I don't want to be like this my whole life. I am 20 years old and I have a lot of life left, but if I continue to eat and gain weight, there is no telling the problems that I will face in the future. Scheduled for LB on April 17th!!!!

I am scared that I will get a bigger band and still be able to eat. I am paying for this on my own (15,000) I am so scared that it will erode and I will have to pay more to get it out and then I will still be fat and will have wasted 25,000. If you're worried about it, though, talk to your doctor & ask what size you'll be getting!

I so agree with this thread! It is so true! I can honestly say that I used to weigh 175lbs, I wore a size 11 in Jrs, It was about a 8 or 10 in womens. People never believed me. One time I went to get my boaters license and the woman asked me," How much do you weigh?" You know so they can put it on your license. At that time I was 200lbs. I was so honest, and said 200, she looked at me and said mam, you do not weight that much, you probably weigh 155, I said I really do. She argued with me, I guess she thought I was stupid or something, so that is what she put on my license, 155lbs! yes I still have that license! I treasure it :confused: I just kidding about the treasuring it thing but I do still have it. Well that was 4 years ago and now I am 280lbs. and I wear a size 20 pant in Old Navy stuff. In walmart stuff I can wear a 22W. I am right at 5'10", I wear a sixe XXL in certain tops, after I wash it, then it fits good, I do not wear anything that is even a little snug on my arms. In a regular tee shirt(what I have on now) I wear an XL. So to sum this all up. 5'10" 280lbs Size 20 in Old Navy-Some 20's don't fit! Maybe it's a 20w that fits I don't know the difference. Size XL or XXl in tops Size 38 C in Bra maybe 40 C Size 11 shoe Size 10 ring I know that I am overweight and unhealthy but I am saying that I am a very muscler person, and that really adds to my weight. I am a good weight at 170 or around that. My entire family is built very thick, is that the right word? You know what I mean. My brother is 6'5" and weighs 275, he does not have a pinch of fat on him!!! He works out alot too. My mom is 5'8" and 175, she wears a size 14 or 12. I am scheduled to have lap band surgery on April 17th!!!!!! I am so excited! LBT has been so great for me, thank you everybody for sharing all your experiences so that others can learn and decide if it is right for them or not.

I went to the Dr. today (Birmingham, Alabama) and had all my test done. I will know tomorrow of a specific date, they said around April 1st. I am so excited but also very nervous. I am worried about loose skin after I loose the weight, I am scared about the band eroding and then I have to pay another 5,000 or so to have it removed and then I am just out 20,000 dollars all together.That is my main fear. I am really struggling with why I would be willing to pay 15,000.00 for a Lap Band when I could just stop eating and have the same affect. But it's obvious that I can't do that. Does anyone understand this or feel the same way? Insurance does not pay so it is all out of pocket for me. I know that it is going to change my life and so on.. I just don't want to make the wrong decision. I know that I am not, but what if, what if, that is all I keep thinking about. I told my mom that if I died during surgery, to tell everyone that I went in for Gal(sp) Blatter Surgery. Over all I can't wait! My husband is excited and I am too. I have not told any of my family except my mom and my husband. I know what my brother will say if I tell him,"You just took the easy way out." I have not had the procedure yet but I am going in on the 22 to schedule it. My husband and I attended a seminar yesterday. That is what my doctor requires you to do before even scheduling an appointment with him. So, I think I am ready. But don't worry, I am not telling anyone, unless I have to.

United Health Care pays for Lap Band. It is the only one in Alabama that I know of.
