Baby Spoons
If the thought of “baby spoons” makes you feel silly then check out demitasse spoons. They’re meant for espresso but I eat off them regularly as I find regular sized spoons cumbersome and awkward.

Short term disability?
For my employer it was fmla and they paid 60% of my pay and I could use PTO to cover the other 40%. Short term disability only kicks in for me after 12 weeks and up to 6 months with the same scale for pay. Knowing that, I actually scheduled my VSG for 45 days before my knee hardware removal and then went back to work 3 weeks after that so I could use fmla to cover both. Either way my company has a claims line specifically for fmla and short term disability outside of HR as far as pay is concerned. I just had to notify HR 30 days prior that I was having surgery.

Food Before and After Photos
Lunch was this huge salad- romaine, cucumber, tomatoes, danmuji, rotisserie chicken, smoked turkey sausage, croutons, and blueberries with a splash of balsamic vinegar. And because I knew I wouldn’t be in the mood for dinner at dinner time I made my kids American goulash with smoked beef sausage instead of ground beef. I, instead, had a glass of horchata with chocolate iced coffee protein powder mixed in.

Dinner with kids- cucumbers, mini tater tots (I ate the other 6 while making plates) and kielbasa, pepper, and onions. Also, you’ll never see me consuming ketchup with potato (or other products) as a dip because I find it disgusting.

Honestly I think it’s more about the spices that I used that made it better. I always add extra chili powder to canned chili. The fat was definitely not needed.

Y’all I made a vegan no bean chili after forgetting I had cans of it. The calories are for the whole big bowl of which I maybe ate 1/3. But then I looked at the can and yikes!

Made a roast beef and cheese melt on my kids everything bread. It was good but halfway through I’d had enough. I tried to pawn it off but no one wanted it. ?♀️? Also made roasted garlic and scallion mashed potatoes and homemade quick pickles. Before and the total calories vs the leftovers and adjusted calories for what I ate.

New to WLS but not dieting.
For the most part. I had road bumps along the way. I had multiple surgeries following my initial WLS for VSG with hiatal hernia repair (knee hardware removal, WLS revision due gerd by hiatal hernia, mesentery hernia repair, and small bowel resection due to obstruction from the seromas from the hernia repair ?♀️). I’m just prone to hernias for whatever reason and even knowing what I know now I’d do it all again because I feel so much better now than I did before.

It’s where a “skinny” person eats foods that aren’t nutrient dense and considered unhealthy for most of their diet. Things like fast food, chips/crisps, fries/chips, fried foods, loads of fat and sugar, etc.

New to WLS but not dieting.
For a while when by body was still trying to regulate after WLS I would drink broth made with bouillon cubes ice or twice a day. It helped a bunch. I don’t have to much anymore now that I’m a couple years out.

6 weeks post op ZERO WEIGHT LOSS AND DEPRESSED
Don’t get discouraged. When I had my revision for GERD I left the hospital weighing more than when I went if for surgery by 5lbs! It eventually came off even when I stalled a lot and for a long time after, too. Trust the process and keep seeing your dietitian.

Welcome! I also have POTS and I’m pretty sure I’m on the zebra train as well (frequent dislocations and stretchy skin, I’m looking at you!). Honestly WLS has helped so much with managing my symptoms and just quality of life in general. Hopefully, you’ll find the solution that works best for you.

Spaghetti squash and yes! I find it delicious that way. It ups protein and adds the creamy factor without heavy cream for less calories- 1/2 cup fat free cottage cheese is 80 calories and 13g protein where 2tbsp heavy cream is 100 calories and no protein.

Always cold!!!!
Even before WLS I was always cold thanks to hypothyroidism. I’m even colder now since losing weight. I wear a long sleeve shirt under my uniforms and a jacket to work most of the time and bundle up at home. I already miss summer. ?

Not yet but starting in November I’ll be making a career move to day shift in my same position (I currently work nights). It’s a shift difference pay cut but I’m ok with it because it’ll mean better sleep and the ability to do more on my days off.

Made a pot roast from part of that brisket I bought a couple weeks ago (Also broke it down into 5.5lbs of ground beef/ stew meat and a corned beef for next week.). I actually spit out the last piece of roast I was chewing because I felt full. It was also onions and potatoes.

What made you decide to have a WLS?
I was in high school (late 90’s) and saw some kind of dateline/news special about bariatric surgery. By that point I was already doing diets with my mom. It had been in my mind since. Fast forward 20 years to 2019 and I had my appendix removed. At my post op appointment my surgeon (who also happened to be a bariatric surgeon- I didn’t know that when the hospital asked me if I had a surgeon I preferred. I chose him because he had previously saved my dads life) asked me if I had thought about weight loss surgery. I said I had and he recommended that I sign up for the program his office offered, so I did.

Where to buy
If you’re newly post-op and purchasing from this site- go with the protein broths, either beef or chicken, and the tomato soup. They’re great savory options among the sea of too sweet protein shakes. When you’re a little farther out, try the sloppy joe packets. Those were some of my favorite products for about a year. Also, if you have trouble swallowing multivitamins then try the bariatricpal protein one powder.

Food Before and After Photos
The rare time I eat leftovers that isn’t soup is usually on the same day I have that meal. So, leftover chicken taco casserole from lunch with brown sugar mustard carrots (yellow mustard, brown sugar, and smoked paprika mixed and then tossed with carrots before baking) from meal prepping today. I also made a cheese tortellini bake for dinner but since I don’t usually eat pasta… it was definitely for the kids.

Food Before and After Photos
Spent $128US this past week on groceries. It would’ve been less if my coupon for the pumpkins came off and I’d have found a brisket that was smaller. (I only wanted one around 10lbs) Saved around $120US though! With the brisket I’m going to make some corned beef, ground beef, a roast, and marinate some for Korean beef. This time I placed an Amazon fresh order. The caveat with AF is that (at least for me) the minimum order before coupons and deals come off has to be $35 to avoid extra fees so I try to find things I’ll use that have a coupon or discount (hence the chocolate and olive oil) but you really can’t beat $5.54 for 6lbs (2.72kg) of daikon.
