July 2019 Surgery Siblings Post-Op
What are you guys month 2 goals? I haven’t set them ALL yet but two are to continue to close all three rings every day and to make it on the top 20 board at our gym. There’s a board when you walk in with the prior months most active members. It’s not because I want anyone else to see my name it’s more for validation for myself and every time I walk in and see my name up there I’ll keep pushing to stay there!

The Best Decision We’ve EVER Made
My husband and I had VSG on 7/9 along with a hiatal hernia repair for me. We had our 1 month post op weigh in Friday. Before we had this surgery we made a pact that if we were spending all the money to do this we were not going to do the minimum we were DOING IT “like a boss”. Following the plan, working the program, working our asses off in the gym, and leaning on each other for support when we need it. The first couple weeks of surgery are HARD, mentally more so than physically. But physically sometimes it sucks too, you will have side pain sometimes, you’ll be nauseated sometimes you’ll throw up sometimes. But it’s all so worth it. Mentally your mind is racing what have I done to myself? This liquid diet sucks! Since when are there so many food commercials? You sometimes have mental cravings so strong that make you feel so desperate you might even cry. And in that low dark place you will long for the comfort of food, but food cannot comfort you anymore. It’s almost like a grieving process and it SUCKS but it gets better. Eventually if you keep saying NO ! Those cravings fade away. I’m not saying I don’t have any cravings anymore but they are few and far between and easily dismissible. I also consider myself “lucky” to have a picky pouch, if I eat a bite of something something that’s even the least bit fatty or greasy it’s coming back and I’m cool with that because it definitely makes me have zero interest in those types of things. Me, my eggs, deli turkey, turkey pepperoni, shredded chicken, string cheese, and PB 2 have become pretty good pals. For the first time in my life I eat to live instead of living to eat. We went through every step of this together from the consultations to the pre-op requirements to surgery and continue to fight this DAILY battle as a team. This surgery has already changed our life in so many ways and i have no doubt that it will continue to have such a positive impact. This surgery has changed the two of us, it has changed our marriage, our relationships with others and our lives as a whole. It’s been a wild fast ride. Neither of us have one ounce of regret this is absolutely the best decision we’ve ever made. We push each other every day and I can’t imagine having gone through this alone without that support. Surgery Day 7/9/19 - 340 & 290 lbs Friday 8/9/19 - 272 & 241 lbs Total loss since surgery- 68 & 49 lbs Loss as a couple - 117lbs

No I’m able to get in two maybe three bites of something before I get the hiccup that tells me to STOP or else ... the else being that terribly uncomfortable fullness if you go for another bite.

For y’all who don’t feel the restriction don’t worry it’s COMING. On liquids I never felt it. The veterans here say that you won’t feel it with “slider” foods. But when you get to softs and start bringing in regular foods TRUST me you will feel it. If you eat fast it’s worse I’ve learned my lesson. In one bite you gonfrom I’m fine to omg i need to puke some of this out or if you’re going to fast it’s like a punch in the chest lol I learned real quick that I needed to SLOW DOWN and pay attention

Happy Saturday, Y'all!
Thank you! I am organized to a fault. But the chaos refers to my children, 2,7 ....... & 34 ? and our double rotating shift work, multiple extra curricular crazy schedule lol It’s constant chaos.

Weighing food (how do you measure yours?) cup or scale
I often see people confuse oz of volume vs weight or straight up not even understand that there’s a difference. Maybe this person is confused and measuring volume instead of weight? 10oz as in volume? As in a little over a cup? You’re right 10oz weight wise sure does sound like a lot of food at 2 months PO.

I’ve got a winner!!! (Calcium Citrate Chews)
Thanks I was actually looking at those this morning

Happy Saturday, Y'all!
I have this little “baby yeti bag” (it’s actually a Magellan from Academy) as I like to call it that comes with me every time I am going to be gone more than an hour or so along with a full yeti cup of liquids. I put an ice block in it and I’ll bring a ready made protein, water to refill my cup, and a couple grab and go protein options like baby bel, Turkey, turkey pepperoni, boiled egg, boiled shrimp and I keep some crystal light packs and clear protein packs in the front pouch . It stays really cold and it’s a lot easier to avoid temptation if I already have what I need right there.

July 2019 Surgery Siblings Post-Op
We both had the experal too ! Wrong spelling I’m sure ?♀️. Those first few days on the low calories you do feel so drained and you’re hormones are nuts and you’re going to feel better I promise but I know it’s hard to believe right now. I have a friend that calls that feeling the Keto flu lol. But I can’t remember exactly what day post op it was but FINALLY my body adjusted to the low calories and it feels normal now. Granted you get tired faster during activities than you would on higher intake but your day to day activities feel a lot more normal. I feel ya on the poop probs mine are far apart too. I take stool softeners to keep it from getting constipated type pain but still lots of days in between. we took vitamins from day 1 except for calcium we start that Tuesday at 1 mo PO. Dont apologize for venting this **** is HARD and a huge adjustment and sometimes we all just need a moment to whine! The metal cravings were BRUTAL for me at first. Downright depressing and seeing other people eat made me want to cry. That part gets better too for me it was around 14 days post op. Not saying I don’t have cravings anymore but not like before. Now it’s more like hey I’m down 37 lbs, I’m in ketosis, I’m killing this, is this thing I’m craving truly worth going allll the way backwards? I’ll try to talk myself out of it and have something else. Craving pizza? For lunch I might do laughing cow with a couple pieces of turkey pepperoni. Stuff like that. Or sometimes I just need to whine to a good friend and get it out! We’re all in this together !

You’ll probably feel the restriction more once you get to softs. That’s the first time I felt mine too and trust me if you take one morsel more than you should it WILL let you know lol. The purées and liquids are able to slide on through.
