  1. I already live in black leggings because all my pants are too small. I’m just going to continue to wear leggings and yoga pants and try really hard to to over shop for new tops. Thankfully I have quite a few tops that are too small. I wonder if I could possibly take in my tops with my extremely basic sewing skills
  2. I am wondering about the experiences of people who had 100 pounds or less to lose. I know that the heavier you are the more you lose rapidly. If you started at 100 pounds overweight what is the average weight loss per month? I wonder if it’s harder to lose or if it’s easier because I have less to lose. I really want to hit my goal within the year. Experiences anyone?
  3. I’m so scared of this. I look horrible with short hair, like people have even told me as much. If I have to cut it short I’m going to be really depressed
  4. Im trying so hard not to be scared but I just looked at my ticker and it's 2 weeks and 6 days. Omg!
  5. Good luck!! Let us know how it goes
  6. I would really love to tell everybody except there is so much ignorance about it. A lot of people still think that it’s taking the easy way out and that you didn’t really earn it. My only concern is that it feels like it’s going to be really obvious and if I say I didn’t have surgery then of course people would know that I’m lying. I’m honestly not sure what I’m gonna do. People don’t generally lose 100 pounds in 7-9 months by just doing weight watchers
  7. I’m not looking forward to being cold all the time but the upside is that it gets to be well over 100 in the summer and at least I won’t be miserable like I usually am. Also my husband will be happy not having 2 fans going in our bedroom even in the winter
  8. Im wondering what you worried about that didnt turn out to be a huge issue?
  9. So,.......? Im very curious...hows it going for you now?
  10. I have 3 weeks to go and I have noticed I am allowing too many grains into my diet and I am going to stop. I have been careful not to eat a lot of bread, pasta, white rice etc. but now I know I need to eliminate those things from my diet. I also am a sugar addict and I need to stop all sugar. Why? Because it takes time. I once gave up sugar for 1.5 years and it took a good 4 months before I stopped craving it. You can eat the things you crave yes, but it just keeps that cycle of addiction going. I know with every Hersheys kiss I put in my mouth I am just helping the addiction to continue. There is really no other way to get these things out of your system other than not consume them. Holidays were rough and I relaxed my standards too much and I reignited my love of chocolate. I have been off sweets for 4 days now and I want to stay off so i can really break the cycle. Maybe moderation works for some but for me it is way easier to stop completely and have those cravings go away. I get really sick of the endless cycle of eating something sweet and then that triggers the need for more and then the guilt that follows. So no I wont go to taco bell or eat chicken wings or chocolate cake because in order to lose weight and keep it off I know I'll never be able to eat like that. Might as well keep it out of my diet now so I'm not going to be thinking "damn those nachos were good, I want that again"
  11. Hi people- So my date is January 22. My mind is all over the place!! Im scared but hopeful. I have full confidence in my surgeon and the hospital. I feel prepared in terms of researching this to death. I know everyone's experience is vastly different which makes it so hard when you have No idea how you will recover. I have anxiety in general so this is particularly hard for me to go forward thinking everything will be fine. I have watched too many videos where people struggle, have complications, cant seem to drink their water, cant get food down, have dumping...etc but I know in my logical brain that does not necessarily mean I'll have those issues. But my anxiety tells me to prepare for trouble. I hate this kind of self defeating worry cause I REALLY believe in the mind/body connection. I know my feelings going into it can potentially affect the outcome and I need to get my head right! What I'd love to know is if anyone had these worries before surgery such as, what if I struggle, what if I dont lose that much, what if I have a lot of pain, what if I can't manage to get anything down and then DIDN'T have these things happen? I want to go into this being positive! My doctor literally called me a "perfect candidate" and lord knows he's run enough tests that I know I have absolutely no health issues. I have every reason to believe I'll have a good outcome but still...I worry so much! Insights?
  12. I’m 51. I feel like this will be a good age to do this because I know for a fact that I have exhausted every single channel possible. I have tried everything and I know that this is my very last option. I will have the surgery knowing that it is absolutely the right thing to do. I did go through early menopause and my hair is a lot thinner than it used to be. I’m wondering how someone post menopausal will do as far as hair loss. I feel like I have absolutely no extra hair to lose!!! I’m scared of that part
  13. It is such a foreign concept to me to worry about but my mother thinks because she’s been nagging me to get bariatric surgery for the last eight years and I would never do it. She had it done herself and she thought that I should do it but I was always too scared. I know she’s happy that I’m having it done, my surgery date is January 22. I’m also nervous but excited!
  14. My feeling is that steak could possibly go down but how do you test that? I’m so paranoid about food getting stuck that I’m going to be afraid to try everything. I can’t imagine eating something like steak so soon because I would just be so afraid of having it sit in my pouch aching
  15. This is exactly what I want to know. If dumping is insulin issue why would a person not have some kind of medication available to counter it? Like Ive heard of people suffering up to 10 hours and it seems like there must be some remedy for that? Im talking about dumping right after eating
  16. I am pretty sure my surgeon is more thorough than most. I am in pretty good health. No issues other than sleep apnea. In October I think I did the usual lab work and physical, in November and December I was required to have a colonoscopy and endoscopy. I also had to have a chest X Ray, blood gas, stress test, mammogram, well woman exam (pap smear) Psych, nutrition class and follow ups, and weight management appointments with my PCP. These are all separate appointments (usually an hour away) so it was no picnic. But basically I started in October and am having surgery January 22. I made an Excel spreadsheet to keep track of all my appointments and requirements because it can be overwhelming, especially when the specialists are booked up months in advance and you just want to get stuff over with!
  17. Im going to be one of those people who worry about the scale but you said it, you have to trust the process.
  18. I got my date today. January 22. Miraculously I dont have to do a liquid diet except 3 days prior to surgery (but I do get to do a nice bowel cleanse the day before) I also was told to maintain my weight. I'm guessing so I stay within the BMI guidelines. I've been obsessively watching Youtube videos of bypass people but I should probably ease up on that. Im getting scared of dehydration and dumping and all that other fun stuff. I am just SO HAPPY to have a date, finally!
  19. Also...anyone have dehydration issues? Im scared of ending up in the hospital with an IV!
  20. Same here. They were very clear that we are not to consume any caffeine for at least a year but it would be best to just give it up completely. No coffee, even caffeine free. I’ve been drinking Coffee substitute and it’s been ok though I do get an occasional headache from giving up caffeine
  21. I'm getting very scared reading through posts about plain water. I do NOT like additives like Mio and Crystal Light and I cannot imagine never being able to just drink water plain. It seems that a lot of people struggle, not just in the beginning but long term! I am freaking out at the thought of always having to add something special to my water. Is it really that bad?
