  1. I’m going to follow my surgeons guidelines but I’m also taking in a lot of information from other sources and I’m going to let my body tell me what’s working and what isn’t. If it’s time to move onto the next stage and my stomach doesn’t like it I’m going to back off a little and not push it. I know some people move forward to the next stage prematurely and can handle it just fine. The issue I have is if I rush it and then I get really sick, Then I will have to tell my doctor that I screwed up and didn’t follow the plan.
  2. Im not a fan of phentermine. I took it for like 8 months and I lost a lot of weight but obviously gained it all back plus some. It makes you jittery as hell, insomnia, heart palpitations. Ugh. Never again
  3. Does anyone else have to do a bowel cleanse?? I have to do liquids for 2 days then my doc wants me to drink that terrible stuff out of a jug which REALLY cleans you out. I just had to do it for colonoscopy so Im not thrilled at having to do it again! It seems that this is not the usual course of pre op prep?
  4. We have Hulu and I have some TV shows on reserve for binge watching. I find that helpful because with Prime and Netflix I'm searching endlessly for something I want to watch. I have actually never watched Modern Family so I'm going to hit that up and finish a few others. Im currently watching The Good Doctor, it's cheesy but interesting enough that I like watching it. Aside from TV and movies I will try to walk and do some easy cooking, perhaps some Instant Pot recipes. I have 2 teenagers who are perfectly capable of helping out so I dont anticipate that I'll be too stressed out having to get things done.
  5. Im so terrified of food poisoning. What do you think did it??
  6. Hey everyone, This may have been discussed before but for newer people I wanted to bring it up again...but I checked with my insurance company (Blue Shield) and if my doc writes a prescription for my protein my insurance company will cover the cost. I dont know how long or how much but Im definitely going to be asking for a script when I see him tomorrow for my pre op. Whatever portion they're willing to cover is fine with me! It never hurts to ask right?
  7. I would definitely create some distance. She sounds very toxic and your success depends on surrounding yourself with supportive people. This lady is not rooting for your success. Sounds like it’s time to move on
  8. I’m having surgery January 22. Anyone doing it roughly the same time message me if you want to exchange email addresses. It might be helpful to have a surgery buddy!
  9. It’s so weird how I’m not feeling nervous anymore. I’m currently just wanting the time to pass quickly so I can get this show on the road
  10. well crap. I apparently have not reduced my intake of grains enough because now I've gained 5 pounds and I see the doc for my pre op in 2 days!!! They told me I cant gain weight so Im not sure what the consequences will be but it was dumb to be so careless. I havent had any big food funerals but I am definitely not being vigilant enough thinking "I may never eat this again" OK enough is enough. No more "one last time" meals. Thats it!
  11. I cant imagine anyone wanting to be my size! But yes it's all relative. I dont have a goal weight that I'm really set on I just want to feel lighter and healthier. I feel like Im lugging a heavy backpack around and I'd love to be able to move more freely. That being said I would also like to look better and wear off the rack clothing (not have to do plus sizes) I guess we'll see
  12. CBD is legal where I live (I mean if you combine with TCH) but I have an impossible time trying to pick something out. How do you choose? strength? brand? Are you ingesting the oil or is it topical?
  13. This is helpful information. I have a heel spur that hurts like hell but I have refrained from taking NSAIDS because my surgery is in a few weeks. I definitely need to find an alternative though. I was actually thinking if the pain got bad enough I might cheat a little but Im getting the picture that ulcers are no joke. I certainly dont want that.
  14. they're teenagers so it's more a matter of him coming over because my daughter needs help with math homework. His visits have become more infrequent thankfully but he asks me to monitor my daughters homework if he'll be working late and if I'm in the hospital or recovering I'll have to have a reason why I cant do that. I think I'm going with hernia repair
  15. I have light blonde hair though, would it still work?
  16. Have you really researched it? I’ve read a lot of negative data. https://www.webmd.com/diet/obesity/news/20180606/weight-loss-balloons-linked-to-12-deaths-fda-says
  17. All I know is that when I did keto I was so thirsty all the time I just couldn’t drink enough water. I wouldn’t do it again just because of the extreme thirst. That, and I don’t ever want to have to restrict the amount of vegetables that I eat.
  18. Yeah. I guess it’s entirely possible just to say that I have to have a procedure done and that I don’t care to discuss it. That will just have to be good enough.
  19. LOL..Ive already had mine removed! I thought about thyroid too, but it seems you'd have a scar on your neck
  20. OK so I plan on telling people close to me that I'm doing the RNY however, there are some people such as my ex husband and his horrible new wife I do NOT want to tell. The problem is that he still comes over now and then to see the kids and I absolutely refuse to tell him I'm doing this so I need an excuse. (Basically an excuse as to why I am totally unavailable for a few days/weeks). I've already had my gallbladder removed so thats out. Anyone have to make up a cover story with a fake surgery? Im worried that I'll have to tell certain people I had, for example, my appendix removed, and then like magic weight just starts falling off of me. Is there even any kind of surgery that could result in weight loss??
  21. Well it's happening so I'm sort of trying to work it out in my mind that if I'm going to do it anyway I need to just try to get zen about it and let it happen. ugh!
  22. Im also 1/22. Hoping everything will go well. Do you feel prepared?
