Diet Preachers
LOL! ? Only diet preachers in my life are on bariatric pal! At first I thought your post was sarcastic and directed at people here. I love coming here to read and learn the different diets that work for everyone, great place to get lots of food ideas. BUT, some people can get a little intense about their way being the only way.

ONEderland...blessed!

Yay! My Surgery is This Morning!
Glad you are doing well! Remember that the first little bit postop is the hardest, then you start melting away and it is all worth it!

Non Plain Water Drink Choices
Tea, a personal favorite. I also have a water infuser pitcher I keep in the fridge and flavor my water with whatever sounds good/whatever I have on hand. If you look around you can get one cheap.

Educate me about BMR post-op
What about those fancy scales that use impedance to calculate body mass and BMR. Not the home ones. I used 1 at the hospital. How accurate are those postop?

Overheard Staff Joking About My Body
You are a brave woman and have been through a lot! Do not let them shame you! You don't need to scream and rage, just send an email to the office manager/customer service. They need a reminder that all people deserve to be treated with respect. Do it for you and do it for the next person they decide to mock/belittle. We protect each other from bullies when we stand up for ourselves.

Migraines and Treatment After the Sleeve
I get migraines too! My doctor cleared me for ibuprofen at my 1 month appointment and for imitrex 3 DAYS postop (hormone shift postop caused a migraine) You should be good to go, but always ask your surgeon first.

Just need to vent/cry

Why so slow???
Yes!! That is also part of why I am so over protien shakes! Thank you for taking the time to write such a long and thoughtful response, gave me lots of ideas ? I think my kiddo will really like helping me cook with wonton wrappers!

Why so slow???
Will you share what a typical daily menu looks like? Or at least a handful of your go to meals/snacks. 1,000 calories is about where I try to be as well. I am 3 months post-op, doing well, but struggling with building my new routine. Also struggling packing my lunch for work. I am trying to reduce protien shakes bc they aren't filling. I can see how they could become extra calories in the long run. Mine are only 130 calories, but that still adds up. Don't anyone jump on me, I understand that protien shakes are a valuable tool to add both fluid and protein. But at this stage they need to be a tool, not what I rely on. Every body is different.

Study on Ghrelin
Thank you for posting this. It explains a lot of what has happened to me. I was a functional alcoholic for a few years in my 20s, then a regular drinker after that. Still had extra cravings for alcohol, but I could control it just fine. I was concerned that I might develop a problem with alcohol post op bc it seems to happen for some people. Instead, I want alcohol even less. What a relief! We have enough to go through postop!

Wedding ring resizing
I am just excited I can finally wear mine again! It was too small for the last year. I have a while b4 it is loose, but it sounds like a nice problem to have. ?

Should weight matter in a relationship?
Typically overweight people and healthy people have different lifestyles. This can lead to incompatibility on lots of levels. It is also hard to watch someone you care about be sick and unhealthy, over time this can wear at a relationship too.

Back fat?
That's me from behind preop. (Gray shirt, not firehat ?). I am pretty sure it is loose skin jiggle and am really hoping it will get better. Thanks for the suggestions. I will definitely get some compression tank tops. Jiggling back fat/skin is kinda funny ?, but I was surprised at how uncomfortable it was too.

How often do you weigh yourself?
I weighed daily until I hit a stall. Then I was frustrated and stayed off the scale for 2 weeks. I lost 10lbs in that time! Now I weigh weekly or less.

Back fat?
So I have started jogging again. I used to, but it has been a long time and 50 pounds or so ago. I noticed that I can feel my "back fat" jiggle. The real question is whether it is truly back fat or loose skin. Feels weird either way. Should I double up my sports bra and wear 1 backwards? ? Really hoping the skin tightens. . . . .or I lose more back fat. Anyone else have strangeness with new workouts? Or good workout modifications?

Eating out during soft food stage
Go out for coffee! Or brunch and have oatmeal/yogurt/cottage cheese/scrambled eggs.

Let's compare!
I really try to be good, but life can get in the way. ? I take most of my vitamins most of the time. Ideal eating and drinking routine is starting my day with fluid (sometimes protein, sometimes tea). I have a 20 oz refillable bottle and I alternate fluids and food. If I drink 20 oz of fluid between each food intake it helps me manage real hunger, thirst, and head hunger. I track protein and fluid, kinda. Never calories, carbs, or fat. Way too much work. I have total respect for all of you who are good about it. I am following a lower carb/fat diet and eating the right things, good enough. WLS has changed my life, but not become my obsession. Probably why I am a slow loser, but still consistently losing pounds and inches so it is working for me.

Grieving for clothes?!
It is mid-summer and my clothes are looking frumpy, even the pre-pregnancy ones! This is happy and sad. I don't want to buy a bunch of new stuff until fall. But it will have to happen. Since my body is shrinking my clothes hang on me more, which means the neck lines are lower and I have noticed a few times when my t*ts were hanging out too much. ? Meh, was really hoping to wait until fall. . . . . .

Fiber insoluble vs soluble
I buy chia in bulk and put in a shaker, sprinkle it on everything. Salad, soup, yogurt, baked into things both sweet and savory, spaghetti sauce, salsa, scrambled eggs . . . . . They have no flavor, just texture and you get used to it. New habits, like we all haven't been doing enough of that! ? If I try to give my 4yr old yogurt w/o chia he will get upset "Where are my black sprinkles!?"

Abnormal ekg?!
Abnormal ekgs happen all the time. It could have been many things like where the stickers were placed or amount of tissue over your heart (nice way of saying it's the boobs). An ekg is a very simple picture of electrical activity, just a piece of the picture when it comes to your heart. They just have to check all of the boxes for preop clearance. I'm not trying to be dismissive either, just keep working through the process.

Water pills
As long as you have normal kidney function your potassium levels will be fine. Don't equate other people's experience with your own. Those other people are probably taking a handful of meds and have other medical conditions that you don't.
