MzNatalia reacted to GotProlactinoma in Do people treat you different now that you're skinny?
Definitely. And I was “only” on the low end of obese. Strangers meet my gaze more, smile more, and seem nicer. I am not skinny, not even quite down to normal weight but getting there.
it makes me sad to see first hand how fat people are not considered as worthy as lesser weight people. This is a truth, and I don’t like it. I don’t know what to do about it.

I'm not thin yet, but the improvement has inspired different reactions. Getting more smiles from men my age, more casual conversation, more attention.
On the one hand.....it's awfully nice to not be invisible anymore.
On the other hand.....it's kinda hard to take. Part of me is really irritated these same guys wouldn't have even made eye contact 60 pounds ago.
And of course...no one suspects a fat middle aged women. We could commit the perfect crimes because no one notices us or sees us. A part of me is sad to give up being able to commit the perfect crime:)

Guys, you are missing out on a very important piece of information. The Tecno-W3 in a phone sold in Nigeria. This guy could be the Nigerian prince we've all heard so much about over the years.

Thanks all my bariatric pals!!! My surgery went great and I was sipping easy within an hour of getting to my room! Thank goodness! The only complaint I have is being extremely sore and if you try to take in too much you will not be a happy camper! My advise, take dry mouth spray and as everyone says sip, sip, sip and walk to relieve all that gas. Thanks guys for all your kind words, I am thankful for each and every one of you!!!

Possibly end of February, latest March 7th. Hubby and I started this journey together. We have always based everything in our lives around everyone else. This journey is all about us. He had gastric bypass in December. After I might add he lost 43 lbs pre surgery. We started lifestyle changes at end of Aug 2017. He joined a program first. I followed first part of September. He is doing absolutely amazing. Weight loss after his surgery is moderate. Possibly because he lost so much before. Unsure at this point and it really does not matter. He has gone from a 44 waist pants to a loose 34. He is beyond happy. All his work is paying off. My incredibly shrinking man.
I am so absolutely happy to know I’m right behind him. Our new life begins!!!! BW 367 CW 320. Good luck everyone on this new beginning we have all chosen. Gonna be an amazing ride!!!!

Whoee do I have this to look forward to? After losing 30 lbs I lost the fat pad over my coccyx but you know what? I'll buy stock in a cushion factory before I gain anymore weight. I plan to be so mobile that I won't sit in front of the TV and feel sorry for myself and my "fluffyhood" I have spent too much of my life looking like Bip the Michelin Man's twin sister. Time to move on, bike and go the places I don't fit into now, we have a lot of town festivals and fairs in Ohio i haven't had the endurance to enjoy. Maybe not Kings Island and Cedar Point but there are fireman fesivals, Roscoe Village and Ohio Historical Center, Columbus Crew, even the Columbus Clippers, Cleveland Indians AAA farm club. There are area of Ohio Tomkitten has never seen, I may have visited them when I was a little kakat kitten myself but my late husband, the Somewhat Lamented, didn't want to travel at all. Once I married him I had to attend his family reunions as well as my own by myself. It was humorous at-at his calling hours people came he wouldn't have recognized if he had been alive. Guess I must have married him for something other than his social involvement. Well there is life force and spunk left in the ole girl and I'll keep going as long as I have breath, left in me! Just watch my contrail cause I will be jetting

    Hello my name is Dee.
I’ve trolled on here (in a good way) to get, what I’ve found to be some very useful information. I’ve started my journey in November with my first appointment weighing in at 358 (I’m 5’8”) My second appointment was 12/21/17 and I lost 4lbs. Third appointment I just had 1/30 and I was down another 2lbs. My last and final appointment is 2/13 ( I do have nutrition and psych evaluation 2/7) then after that off to the insurance company (Aetna) to be approved. I’ve fluctuated so much with my weight. I’m super excited that I’ve FINALLY made this decision and so is my husband, whom by the way had his sleeve done in September and he’s down 94lbs and looks amazing! We support each other and that’s what matters but I also would love the outside positive influences from you guys [emoji4] I look forward to sharing this experience.

I’m currently three and a half weeks into a six week liquid diet. I totally understand where you are coming from. Take this time, if you can, to stop focusing on what you could be eating and focus on what you’ll make to eat post surgery. I’ve found recipes I can’t wait to try during the puréed/soft food stage and beyond.
I also stopped cooking for my family so there’s no temptation. I’m using the extra free time to do things I haven’t been able to do for years. Pick up an old or new hobby or read a book that you have been intending to for years.
You can do this! You made it through all the pre-op hurdles and you will get through this!

Oh ****. When I originally read the post I thought it was a PHOTO she sent you. I had no idea she actually mailed you all that crap. OMG! I think even with the filters on these posts the word I want to call her would get me kicked off the boards, but yeah. That is unbelievable. The best revenge will be living life as a happy, healthy, active, trim individual.

Hi, I'm actually on week 2 of a 6-week liquid diet. Day 3 was the hardest (I feel sorry for my family), but it has gotten better. I find that the Protein Drinks do fill me up.
To keep busy I play video games, look up post-op recipes, and try to prep everything that I'll need for after the surgery so that I have no concerns except for healing. When I feel myself focusing on food too much, I go and watch the videos of others that had wls and were successful. Next thing I know, 30-60 minutes have passed and the cravings are gone.
The first few days will be tough but you can do this!

Ha. "Bariatric card." I'll just tell them I had the surgery, and if they go on a power trip, I'll pull up my shirt and show them the scars.
