  1. I’m sure your surgeon could recommend a primary care doctor who would write one, if necessary. Mine wrote one for me, no questions asked.
  2. Seafood chowder would be another option. Unfortunately it’s too early to set sail for Cheddar Bay.
  3. I had it for about 15 years prior to the surgery. It has improved somewhat since the surgery (I’m able to take generic omeprazole and the symptoms are improved).
  4. I had pretty bad GERD before the surgery and I still have it, it’s just much easier to control and the symptoms aren’t as bad.
  5. Not everyone can tolerate regular pizza crust post-surgery. I can, but I’m one of the lucky ones, and I really have to stick to cracker crust.
  6. I would have been very reluctant to have it done overseas, primarily because surgeons in general prefer that you have surgery in your home town, to ensure continuity of care (I was discouraged from having surgery to repair an anal fissure by a colorectal surgeon in DC because I was about to move to Chicago; he recommended I move and then have the surgery in Chicago, which I did).
  7. Yes, I have loose skin. No, it’s not a reason not to get the surgery.
  8. I've thought about re-joining WW and going to meetings since a) my employer will reimburse me for it if I go to X meetings in Y months (don't recall the specifics) and I like it when people applaud my weight loss, but it seems like I'd have an unfair advantage over other members. I also think that, particularly in the early months after WLS, you're losing weight at a rate that's much higher than what WW recommends, and may get you flagged in their system.
  9. Yeah, I had a few bites of Stove Top stuffing during the liquid phase and it did not go well. A month on liquids is a long time!
  10. 10 days out, I ate a donut dipped in coffee and threw it back up. During the liquid phase, a few times I put crumbled-up saltines at the bottom of the cup when I was eating strained cream soups so they'd soak well before I ate them. I didn't tolerate those very well. I started pureed/very soft foods almost a week ago and have found that I can tolerate almost anything if it's tiny portions eaten a miniscule bite at a time and each bite is chewed 25 times. Saturday I had a few bites of toast with my scrambled egg, stopped eating it when I didn't feel well. Sunday was 2 or 3 Bugles. Yesterday was two hush puppies from Long John Silver's.
