So happy with weightloss but exhausted
Fu*k! I'm eighteen months and take in on average this week about 1000cals per day. I'd be exhausted too with that schedule! Do you really walk 10mi per day? Do you really go to the gym 4 days per week? Do you really do elliptical on top of that? Do you also do yoga and stretching and your doctor thinks you aren't DOING ENOUGH? For reals? That's total insanity! You're getting in 500cals or less per day. I gotta call BS. No wonder your tired. The real question is, how are you not dead?

A Crazy Past Two Years- Grazing issue begun
^^^^^ This a million times! So sorry you're having a rough go!!! One rule I live by for nightly snacking is: 1. It has to have a protein or fiber component! (when I was in WLM I was very strict with this. Only a narrow list of snacks such as hard boiled egg, string cheese, meat rollup, raw veggies. Now that I'm in maintenance it also incluses 1/2 small GS apple + 1/2 oz raw nuts, more veggies lol, 1 tbsp nut butter and a gg brancrisp.) If you fill up on protein you will find it harder to eat more food.

So happy with weightloss but exhausted
You need to up your protein hon. Exhaustion at this time is normal, but you do need to eat more and advance your diet as you tolerate. Try going to mushies or even thicker cream soups. Blended veggie soups work great at this time of year. ((hugs)) I wouldn't bother working out until you can get your diet and sleep taken care of. They are way more important to long term health. And if exhaustion continues, see the doc. They need to do blood work to see if you are low in anything.

Protein and Weight Loss (unrelated)
Well, she's certainly within rights to make arbitrary fantasy rules for her practice, but scientifically this is a load of hooey. LOL. ALLLLLLLL macronutrients are cumulative as is calorie load, glycemic load, incretin load, protein load, etc. So. You do what you think is best. But if you apply her screwy logic to your diet, you are gonna be working super hard to get all that protein down and you will likely be over eating = slow weight loss. Protein drinks + protein in food = total daily protein. Most of our docs say 60-80g for women and 80-100g for men (from all sources-animal, mineral, vegetable). LOL.

Daily Menus for Maintenance
Gosh, like all of y'all I can eat fast! But then I would over-consume. So I try to make myself take 20 minutes at minimum (although I could probably eat my portions in 10minutes give or take). This is disturbing to me. Ha. I always usually portion my food by scale/volume so I only get what I get until the next meal. No seconds. Evs. It's a hard firm rule in my house these days. I don't often feel "full" and have quit trying to chase that full feeling. So my portion is just my portion and I doubt seriously that it makes my pouch expand to give the full signal. The GI dude said something disturbing in my last EGD, he said, you're wide open, so I wouldn't be overly concerned with staying within a portion size to keep from stretching out your pouch. That kinda said, your pouch through your stoma is wide open so food is just thru and thru. What do y'all think? I know RNY doesn't have a pyloric valve, but I think many of our anatomies are full stop open faucet from tummy to bowel.

Daily Menus for Maintenance
No truer words hon! I thought I had Fatsgiving last year. I came back about 7-8lbs up from the holiday cuz I let snacky chips and carb crap back in for a weekend! Took me about 2 months to lose and I was so peeved! This year I know better. There is no magic bus. LOL. So I'm walkin' the thin line between now and feast meal! And gosh I would love to be on the other side of 130 lbs when that meal hits. LOL. I feel @Sheribear68's pain! The drugs will stall you out. Or at least they do me. I can gain 5lbs overnight from taking them. So I try to avoid them at all costs. Sorry you're back and neck are flaring hon. Take care of yourself!!! LOL at the cupcake. @sheribear68 your menu sounds good but I highly doubt you are in a 700-800 range. I'd bet you are closer to 500 hon. Maybe logging would be a good thing for you to do right now while trying to entertain maintenance?

Protein and Weight Loss (unrelated)
Then I wouldn't say 100g is too much, but at 5'11" and your activity level you're probably closer to around 80-90g of protein per day. And the slim jims still have a ton of fibrous stuff. It causes your gut to have to churn and grind and that's not good. Just my 2 cents. Do you.

Protein and Weight Loss (unrelated)
You're a male, right? To be 3 weeks PO and already eating things like beef sticks and jerky are not optimal. That is very new from surgery. At that time, I was only on soft foods stage, which a beef stick is not. I think if you're a dude, 100g is fine. Most are in a range from 80-100g per their docs. There is not usually a HUGE problem with protein malabsorption for RNYs and you had VSG, so even less issues. My surgeon said that the new bypasses don't have nearly as much malabsorption as previously believed...maybe 10%. But of course, there are outliers in all of us. Some of your stair stepping might be aggravated by the salt content in your food (beef sticks). But stairsteps are totes norm.

- Daily Menus for Maintenance
Had a hungry hungry heifer day yesterday so ate as much lean protein as I wanted while keeping carbs low. There is no doubt the hungrier days at the top of the week are due to eating more food and more carbs on the weekend--even though my weekend choices are not very bad. Another busy day today! You guys are all rock stars and your menus look delish!!!!! @ms.sss You look like you are maintaining like a champ and that you have this down! @Tracyringo are you back in your window? If not, you are soooo close!!! Tuesday 11.12 - Maintenance : 5'4" / 57y F/ 19.5mo PO RNY / 131.6 lbs B-Protein lattes (4oz PP) + 1 hb egg L-Big A*s salad with salmon and veg (iceberg, cucumbers, red bell peppers, purp onion, carrots, sliced olives, feta, Grk dressing) + 1 hb egg AS-herb ox chicken bouillon + grilled chickie boob D-grilled chicken parm + garlic broccoli + avo/tomato BS-1/2 s'mores quest bar + decaff/peppermint mocha latte Daily Totals: 1117cals; 101g protein; 66g fat; 33g carbs; 14g fiber; 19g net carbs- The Maintenance Thread
@sillykitty That's a good question and fair. I know for a fact that my choices are not bad. But adding extras like I did this weekend, caused me to gain 2 lbs within my window. Am I stressed about it? Nope. But I conversely don't want to have to worry about more lbs. So instead I go back to eating my normal weekly fair. Dr. Fung says this is actually a good thing to do--in IF. If I keep eating, there is no doubt (been there done that), that I will continue gaining. It's not unfounded fear. It's fact. Unfortunately, I don't have the metabolic flexibility you and @ms.sss enjoy. So it is a series of eating more on the weekends, then going back into my strict WLM foods. But you've seen my menus. I pack a crapton of delicious and to me, satisfying food into my daily menus. Is this disordered eating? Dunno. I call it maintenance.- Daily Menus for Maintenance
Yesterday was a busy busy day moving our storage unit across town. I fell asleep by 7pm then woke up hungry at midnight. So what did I do? I ate! Ugh! LOL Can tell my arm is unhappy with all the activity and salt from yesterday, cuz I'm having a lymphedema flare in my left arm, chest, and back. Oy veh. Time for compression. I estimate I'm carrying about a lb or more of fluid. Monday 11.11 - Maintenance : 5'4" / 57y F/ 19.5mo PO RNY / 132.0 lbs B-Protein lattes (4oz PP) L-Big A*s salad with shrimp and veg (iceberg, cucumbers, red bell peppers, purp onion, carrots, sliced olives, feta, Grk dressing) + 1/4 of Italian sausage and marinara appetizer (ate about 1/3 of the salad). AS-nothing D-gg brancrisp flatbread + LS peanut butter BS-cottage cheese, ff grk yogurt + walnuts + SF da vinci pumpkin spice syrup Daily Totals: 756 cals; 57g protein; 48g fat; 33g carbs; 11g fiber (Psst: I have that crazy feeling of being at the top of my weight window at 132lbs and need to really skimp on food today to have the scale move back down to 130lbs.) @ms.sss- Motivation after the first year
Yeah, it's the sophomore slump. And you have a choice: either go back and regain or never get to goal OR mix things up. Change up your routine, add another element, refocus. Add something that feels fresh and new, challenging. When I hit that time, it was easy to slip back into life again. And life isn't exactly conducive to living a healthy post op WL journey. So I added IF and TRE to the mix and lost the rest of my weight over the next few months. I'm now in maintenance and allow myself to have cheat weekends then back on plan during the week with healthy healthy eating. It works. You have a lifetime of living life. Seize your motivation again...and get this little bi*ch done. Ok? You can do it. You have to remember your WHY!!!! Congrats on your weight loss so far!!!- The Maintenance Thread
@ms.sss I won't requote your post, but wanted to say I do the same thing. Even though my window goes all the way up to 135lbs, I start feeling antsy at 132lbs and start down regulating eating accordingly, slipping back into WLM (mode or mentality). And start putting my time between meals and between first meal of the day. And when I'm down to the 130lbs mark, I start dreaming of what would happen if I do get to slip into BDG goal. I would immediatly start defending the 125-130lbs as my new goal. LOL. And of course, I'd want to defend closer to 125 than 130 cuz I would be so afraid of slipping above 130lbs again. I know once down at the 125lb level, I'd start thinking of adding a 5lb bounce below it so I could defend 120-125lbs. I don't truly believe (very doubtful) that I will ever slip under the 130lb mark. It just feels so inconceivable that I could really reach BDG weight after so long. I'm also just gonna treat it as a happy accident so I don't stress out if it doesn't happen. But I fully get where you are coming from and I don't know if this is normal behavior or not. I just choose to embrace it as "normal for me" behavior. LOL. There's very little chance I will ever become anorexic as I adore eating too much. LOL. And I do feel pretty good in my clothes in all situations--not so true about nekkidity of course...but see through body suits might just save my nekkidy sanity. TY @MIZ60!!- coughing trouble
Honestly? I think that's a bunch of hooey. I was able to cough and clear my chest up until the point of surgery. During surgery, they did not remove any muscle nor did they remove any internal organs. But immediately in recovery, I noticed the inability to cough. I have pretty strong core muscles due to PT training. And from the first minutes I was awake, I still noticed this inability to cough or expel air. So where is the "loss of torso muscle" coming from? If that's their explanation for it? I've lost a lot of weight, but I now have the beginnings of a 6pack ab set.- How do I cut the candy?
Here's one recipe using a more natural approach but google sugar free gummy bears using gelatin and you will see there are many many variations. One of them you can make extra sour by using citric acid powder. https://lowcarbyum.com/making-homemade-sugar-free-gummy-bears-raspberry/- Food Before and After Photos
This is what I'm making for Thanksgiving "maybe" unless I do smashed roasted cauliflower instead. The difference is that I won't use as much butter and will be making turkey tenderloins cooked the way I cooked the chicken breasts. Yum. And so dang easy!!! I won't even miss the loads of butter! https://fluffychixcook.com/pumpkin-in-browned-butter-aka-refried-pumpkin-keto-allergy-kiss-day-2/ Here's the link to the smashed roasted cauliflower: https://fluffychixcook.com/roasted-mashed-cauliflower-aka-roasted-smashed-fauxtatoes/ I make em the same way now post surgery, but I use MUCH less butter and in place of cream cheese I use Greek nonfat yogurt or neufchatel cheese or lite cheese wedges. - Daily Menus for Maintenance
