Shereseed got a reaction from MadisonJames in Rice/pasta alternatives
Hi there!
I am looking for alternatives that have a similar mouth feel to rice and Pasta. Has anyone found anything amazing?

Shereseed got a reaction from sacsa97 in Flight home
Hi there! I am having surgery in Mexico on July 12th. I am flying home to Seattle from San Diego on July 15th. I know many of you have done this. I'm wondering how the flight went. Any tips or tricks?
Thanks!

Shereseed got a reaction from sergeant2629 in Bubbly chest... 4 Days Post
Has anyone else experienced this bubbly chest feeling? I am not having problems getting down Clear Liquids, no vomiting, lots of expected burping, but the bubbly sensation is so strange in my chest.

Pre-op I ate a lot of quinoa instead of rice, theres lots of good recipes out there. Natures own has a Protein wheat bread with 8g per slice, can't taste the difference. I've made the zucchini noodles several times, just be sure to squeeze out the moisture. Cauliflower mash or rice is good, I buy it pre-made in the freezer section. Steamfresh protein blends are good. Protein banana pancakes are pretty good made with Protein Powder or shakes. I've heard you can make Pizza Crust out of chicken or cauliflower, I'll have to try that out.

Overall I don't have the room for them, even at 2 years after eating my Protein. It isn't really worth it to make a side to only have one bite or 2.
Zucchini noodles work well and so does riced cauliflower.

My friend swears by cauliflower rice. You can make it, or buy it in a steamer bag in the frozen section. Seems to be a hot item nowadays.

On another thread someone said they got a veggie spiralizer and made zucchini noodles. I just got mine form Amazon today and haven't tried it yet. I did go on Pinterest and put in spiralizer recipes and found tons that look really good. I would suggest that. Apparently you can spiralizer all kinds of veggies and make awesome low carb paleo meals that fit into the bariatric guidelines. I don't know about rice. I have completely avoided it so far until I can talk with my Dietitian about it.

Shereseed reacted to gwbicster in How much weight did you lose?
This is a dangerous thread because its not particularly productive to measure yourself against others- our own journey is a highly individualized experience.
Men do better than women normally. Fatties like me do better than the "lightweights" who started at a more reasonable weight.
Sometimes people get frustrated that they're not losing as much as "everyone else" when in reality, they are doing GREAT by their own standards.
Proceed with caution!

I have it! I thought I was going crazy. Lol. I'm 2 months out and it still happens. Nothing bad. It's just weird.

Shereseed got a reaction from hello.jihae in Need friends and support
I was sleeved on 7/12. They told me to just keep the incisions clean, but not to keep them covered with bandages after today (4 days post op).

Danee was kind enough to create a group on Facebook called "July 2017 Sleevers." It is private, so nobody on fb will see the posts or comments you make within the group, unless they are members. Everyone here is welcome to join!

Shereseed reacted to elle2 in July Schedule
I was sleeved yesterday with Dr. Ariel Ortiz in Tijuana. I'm amazed at how good I feel. The only thing is that I am extremely tired. Came back to the hotel today and slept most of the day. I will have to force myself to get some broth from the restaurant. I go back to the center tomorrow for the leak test, and then head home on Saturday. I am only planning on taking 3 days off work when I get back. So from surgery start to heading back to work will be one week . Just no heavy lifting, which should not be a problem.

Shereseed reacted to AK_Bookworm in Flight home
I had surgery on a Thursday and flew home Saturday... I live in Alaska so it was about 8 hours of flying between two flights. It really wasn't that bad other than just hating flying for more than an hour... the worse part was catching my connecting flight in Washington and not taking a bag that had wheels... otherwise flying itself wasn't bad.

Shereseed got a reaction from Dee's Journey in July Schedule
I messaged the admin to see if it can be changed to secret. I'm a secret sleever too. I doubt anyone I know will be searching out sleeve groups, but it would be nice to have that extra assurance.

Shereseed reacted to samiam67 in Y'all! I'm hungry!
I've been there too. Walking down grocery store isles EVERYTHING looked good, even stuff that I knew I didn't like.
Mine lasted until I could eat more Protein. I have stopped watching TV when food comes on, cause it is all mind hunger. I keep my self busy doing other things than watching TV.
Now that I'm 11 weeks out, I've learned to listen to my body and I get hungry for everything only when I have had too many carbs in my diet.
The good thing is that it does go away as you heal and eat better.

Shereseed reacted to McButterpants in Who eats McDonalds post op?
I would eat at McDonalds before surgery - not a lot (I'd prefer a good cheeseburger from a great bar here in town).
Now - I really don't want one. In fact, I was in a McDonalds this afternoon and the greasy smell made me a little sick to my stomach. I didn't order anything and to be quite honest, I didn't want anything.
I have found that those foods that I used to crave, want, binge on, just don't appeal to me anymore. I used to love bread - good crusty artisan bread. I rarely eat bread now and I don't miss it. The other night at Olive Garden I had 1/2 a breadstick....pre-surgery, I would eat 3-4 breadsticks plus all that Pasta. I used to love pizza - I know will eat the toppings and a couple of bites of the crust.
I think once I de-toxed my body, I realized all that I didn't want all that processed food anymore. I'm not saying I never eat carbs or bad stuff. I've been known to sneak a fry from my son's plate or a Dorito here and there, but for the most part, I don't want that stuff.
I know you're worried about what your diet will be like post-op....I did too. I mourned food. I had my food funerals. In reality, I didn't need to. Food just doesn't have it's clutches in me any more - I'm finally free.

Shereseed reacted to clk in Worried about Saggy Skin
I understand this worry and I see the question posed so often. I view it like this: You trade the morbid obesity and cormorbidities for the possibility of loose skin. Later, you might have plastics. So you trade the loose skin for scars.
Upgrades all around, I'd say.
That said, keep in mind that skin rebounds enormously beyond the first year post op. What was a flap from under my breasts to my pubic bone I had to wear a corset-like girdle to contain for two years post op is now almost unnoticeable. Do I still want plastics 7 years post op (and post sleeve baby)? Yeah. But I had twins and I'm down 160+ pounds from my heaviest ever. Do I NEED them? Nope.
Your skin might sag. But even if it does, it can bounce back a LOT with time. I'd rather be skinny and slightly saggy any day, no lie.
Best,
Cheri
