I am now 4 months post op and know exactly how you feel. Especially when I was approved to eat solid foods I was so excited. Then when I couldn't finish my plate I started to doubt the choice I had made. I didn't realize how much food meant to me either. But I can tell you it does get better. All the previous posts got it right. Especially being able to talk to someone in a group or one on one is very important. People who have been there and understand. Post op depression is real! But I can say I made the right choice for my health. You can get get through it!

I saw this picture and it really resonated with me. There are going to be days when you fall off plan a little bit but all you need to do is get back on that train. I wanted to share this because I think everyone can relate!
This weekend I know I fell off a little bit, traveling is always extra hard on me but today is a new day! I'm back on plan and ready to take on some healthy meals.

    Onward and downward!

I chose the sleeve mainly because of my medications. I take medications for depression and anxiety and it would have been too much for me to find a balance in the dosages. I've been through those changes and they are not fun mentally. I'm happy with my decision. Good luck making yours.

Hon, let me help you with this. First of all, whether you have surgery or not, you should stop drinking sodas, diet or otherwise. And I will tell you why. I know it is a hard addition to break but I hope this helps. Look at the ingredients of a diet soda. First and foremost is the poison "aspertame" and I say poison because that is exactly what it is. Look up the neurological and physical effects of aspertame. One of the things aspertame does is forms formaldehyde like residue in your brain which contribute's to brain fog and other neurological disorders and can even mimic Parkinson's disease with the shakes. It also contains phosphoric acid (look that one up)which completely destroys your bones as it make's the Calcium leech out of your bones and hurts your kidneys. Diet sodas and all sodas are great for cleaning your toilet. Put some in and watch the acid do the work better than most cleansers including ajax.
I know not drinking soda is as hard a habit to break as smoking but once you start to look at what you are actually putting in your body, especially your new baby stomach, you may think twice.
Be strong and really look at that label on the soda and research the truth about sodas. I pray that God will give you the strength to see soda for the demon it really is.
I am 6yrs free of soda and no amount if money could make me put that crap in my body. Also when you do stop drinking soda as soon as 4 months when you try to drink one, you won't believe how truly nasty that stuff is!!!!
Let it call your name and ignore that bitch, cuz she is bad bad news.
    Good luck!!

Tap the < at the top of the screen twice on the next screen swipe down and < at the top of that screen swipe down and < at the top of this screen. Now you should be able to tap the top right corner and view your notifications. Almost as tricky as getting an approval for surgery.

I hate when surgeons put time constraints on weight loss. Everyone loses at a different pace for a variety of reasons and making patients feel bad about not losing "quickly enough" just caused undo stress. You've lost 45 pounds in 4 months! I think that's great! As long as the scale is still trending downward, what more can you ask?
I do think you should try different brands and combinations of Vitamins to try to get those in. It's very important not to develop any deficiencies.

    agree with Jamie,
Check out Dr. Matthew Weiner's videos. He says there is no way to predict how fast or how much someone will lose because so much is dependent on factors outside your control. he has had super compliant patients who lose slowly and ones who aren't compliant at all lose fast. You aren't slow. You are losing at the same rate as me (faster actually), RNY and my dr's office thinks I'm fast and I'm super compliant, exercise and the whole 9 yards. I use patch Vitamins by the way. you should try them.

What makes it so easy to gain weight even after bariatric surgery? Let’s commit to zero weight regain in 2017. You can put these good habits into action right away!

    Zero Weight Regain 2017

What are your long-term weight loss goals? Likely you have a positive, upbeat vision of a thin and healthy you. Bariatric surgery might be an option you are considering. Or you may have already undergone one of these weight loss procedures.

Given your dreams and all the hard work you are going through to achieve them, would it be a shock to hear: Many studies show that in the five-years following surgery, patients often gain back most or more of the weight that they had lost.

What makes it so easy to gain weight even after bariatric surgery Unfortunately, any bariatric surgery fails in the long-term when not married to a maintenance plan.

Let’s commit to zero weight regain in 2017. Are you with me? Who’s all in? Then let’s get started with some required reading. The following are good habits you can put into action right away!

    Eat Healthy
The ball is down, Times Square is back to business as usual, and January 1st is bloated with stroke of midnight promises. As we close on January, the month of the year when the most traditional date for personal improvement offers itself up, it’s a good time to check the progress you are making on your resolutions. Among those promises made is the pledge to get fit by eating healthy. If you are among those who share this intention, here are 10 healthy eating resolutions to get you started!
    Read, “10 Healthy Eating Resolutions.”

    Build a Support Network
Patients voice concerns about the difficulty of establishing a bariatric support network. And they struggle to find the balance needed to address their personal recovery needs in the post-weight loss surgery world. Such concerns are well-founded and not unusual. But many bariatric patients meet that challenge and successfully build a viable, multi-dimensional bariatric support network. There is no reason why any person who has had weight loss surgery cannot construct a reliable and useful post-bariatric support network.
Read, “ How to Build a Bariatric Support Network.”

    STOP Stress Eating
Knowing what we need to do can be quickly overturned by what we want to do. Stress demands relief. Harmful and unhealthy choices are often exercised to relieve stress because they are familiar. Emotional eating can provide that relief, but it is a short-lived solution that can have the side effects of overweight or obesity. And if you have had bariatric surgery, you are setting yourself up to regain weight that you have lost.
Read, “What to Do about Emotional Eating!

    Step-up to Permanent Weight Loss
So, you’ve had bariatric surgery and think never again will food be a problem. Right? Well, its not quite that simple. Bariatric surgery is a powerful tool that helps you lose weight, but it is not a cure-all. Permanent weight loss requires more than a bariatric surgery. Permanent weight loss requires that we forever change the way we feel, think, and act around food. Follow our steps to turn “bad habits” in “healthy habits.” They’ll set you on a straight course toward permanent weight loss.
Read, “10 Easy Steps to Permanent Weight Loss!”

    Be Committed!
Stay on your path to weight loss. It takes dedication. So be dedicated. It takes perseverance. So persevere. The surgery is not a means to an end. It is only the beginning.

    Living larger than ever,

Today I met my surgeon and now the fun begins! I'm required to do a 3 month supervised diet, and I surprised the doctor, because I started this in November and Friday is my 3rd and final appointment! He said that is great and is kind of fast tracking to my Surgery date! Most likely it will be at the end of March or the beginning of April!
I have to see a hematologist because 3 yrs ago I had bilateral pulmonary emboli and they never found out why I had these, so he said it's better to be safe than sorry!
Next Monday I meet with the dietician and go to my lifestyle changing class!
I also need an EGD due to reflux and to see if I have a hiatal hernia.
    Then my psych appointment.
Most of it will be done this month!
    I'm so excited!
I was supposed to have RNY about 4 yrs ago, but I left my husband, and I had too much going on to do it.
Now I can say that I already lost 220 lbs, when I left him!
So, I hope to meet some people on here that are having surgery around April. I'd like to have support and to give support!
Well, I'm including my before picture because now the race starts!

I have been that person that has to weigh daily. Now I'm trying to stop that. I know I'm eating according to my personalized plan from my nutritionist. I work out regularly . Inches are coming off. All I need to do is stop obsessing about the number on the scale.
With that being said the scale will no longer be out in the open in the bathroom so I am not tempted to jump on it. So long scale. We will see each other once every two weeks.

I have to confess that I struggled with this concept too, possibly because I was sceptical about my possibilities of succeeding even after surgery, but there seems to be a point where your body knows when to stop. I was 392, I'm now 111 and early indications are that my body is quite comfortable here, I'm reasonably comfortable facially - all the areas I don't like can be hidden with clothes but I think everyone gets some comments about being too small etc. If I was to offer any advice I'd suggest that you will know what feels right for you just go with that, nobody else has to live in your body.
