Update on OCt sleevers.....
I had band to RNY on Oct 3 doing well overall. Down 25lbs from Sept 30! No issues with constipation. I have been walking a lot, keeping busy and started going to the gym again last week. Just doing light things and being kind to my body. I'm a couple days away from soft foods, but have half transitioned. I eat lots of soups, hummus, oatmeal/cereal with milk, cottage cheese, pureed chili with sour cream, and of course Protein shakes! I have noticed the last couple of nights I've been feeling nauseous in the late evening after dinner. I thought maybe it was cause I eat too much at dinner, but I know that's not the case tonight. Although I did have a very small portion of no sugar ice cream and thinking that's making me feel ill. But overall, doing great! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I had band to bypass on Oct 3. I stayed the normal 2 nights in hospital. Recovery went very well. I have lost 23 lbs and I'm doing great. I never had GERD before surgery. Had some bad heartburn in hospital. I take my PPI as directed (once a day) no issues. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

So disappointed in myself.
As the PP said, don't worry. You haven't ruined anything and you obviously learned a lesson. Also, as PP said, post-op is so much easier!! Just do your best! You go this! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Hmm optitrots? Lol
Yes the diet is to shrink your liver and normally for 2-3 weeks. The Canadian Optifast diet is very strict. No additional food other then sf Popsicles and Jello. I was on it for 3 weeks. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Yeah this is horrible.. what did you eat ? I have broth and Jello but that doesn't help lol Sent from my SGH-I317M using the BariatricPal App lol, stuff I shouldn't have been. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Lol! I hear that a lot. Did your surgery go well? Sent from my SGH-I317M using the BariatricPal App Yes, very well. No issues and they had to take out my lap band first and then do the bypass. They also never asked how the diet went either but I did follow very strict for the 3 days before surgery! I did read in the material that was a side effect, and I found after a couple days on them with nothing else that happened to me. I have to eat something every two days of so to avoid the effects so much. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Optifast liquid diet?
Belleville, nice!! Yes, it is for the better. Surgery and recovery will go so much smoother by following the diet. I feel great! Everyday since surgery gets noticeably better. I will let you know, the first 36-48 hours were hard, but the staff and nurses I had were amazing. Take your pain meds BEFORE you need them. When I wasn't sure if I was in pain or nauseous, I just asked for both! Walk as much as you can. You'll do great! I can tell by how well you're doing now :-) Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Optifast liquid diet?
Hi!I'm doing to assume you are in Ontario if you're having to do optifast. I'm in Peterborough and had my surgery oct 3. I had 3 weeks of optifast and alao had to prepare dinner for my hubby and 2 year old. It sucked. The whole time. Being at work was better then at home. It took me a long time to figure out the spacing to help curb the cheating at dinner. I would have my 'dinner' shake at 3pm so I wasn't so hungry preparing dinner and then have my 'snack' shake after everyone was done or just as they were finishing dinner. Honestly I still have almost a whole case left, that's how much I sucked at it. I do wished I could have done better. Telling myself it is a prescription and the goal is to reduce my liver helped. Just do your best. They never even asked me how the diet went when I went in for surgery. Just saying. Good luck. Oh and as for now, so much easier. I can cook and I don't even care if I eat anything. Just not hungry. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

AFTER SURGERY SLEEPING PROBLEMS
I am also having a horrible time sleeping. And never had issues before. Surgery was oct 3 and I can now sleep on my side pretty mush like I used to. I will go to bed tired but it takes me hours to fall asleep ☹️☹️ They after I'm finally asleep, I'm awake 1-2 hours later. Toss and turn all night. I read ketosis can cause insomnia issues and this is a common issue for WLS patients. Can others chime in please? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Heartburn!
I had surgery oct 3 and had really bad heartburn the second night in hospital and they gave me some chalky stuff to drink. I ask when I left what I would do if that happened at home. They said I could take over the counter stuff with no issues. I took some tums the other night cause it came back and that helped. I still take my daily ppi as well. Anyone treated for H . pylori
My clinic put me on a two week antibiotic treatment and then a breath test. The test was positive still. Another round of antibiotics, but they said they would leave it at that and not even test again. Hope it works out for you. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
