Did your surgery affect your menstrual cycle in anyway? I was told the surgery could make your menstrual cycle come early but mine is lasting a lot longer. Did anyone else go through this?

Hi - mine came early (just a few days after surgery and lasted several days longer than usual. My surgery date was 9/22/16 and haven't had a second one yet so I'll I can tell you is about the first one post op.

@@jwidner It's very common. As you burn fat, it is releasing hormones that were stored - creating some issues with your cycle and moods.

Absolutely! I'd completed menopause, so had been over a year with no cycle...I've had a light period every month since my surgery. All the fat-stored hormones are wreaking havoc as I burn that fat.

I'm on Depo and don't normally get a period. Got my period a week after surgery! Weird! Thank for the info on stored hormones.

I had my surgery..the 18th. Period was due the 20..Came on the 22..lasted for my normal 5 days

My surgery was on the 18th got my period on the 20th and it's still going. My normal periods are only 4 days.

My period was late this month 3 weeks post op. Finally arrived today and not so bad at the moment.

Same problem for me the week post operation. I actually called my surgeon because I was scared. I've had one since then, and it lasted longer than normal.

I'm 6 months post op. For the first 4 months I had my period EVERY SINGLE DAY. it was a blood bath. Someone on here said a crime scene. Omg. It was ridiculous. I was buying Super Plus tampons (I didn't even know plus existed!). And I was changing them often. As a result I was absolutely exhausted. Lethargic. BUT as of last month & again this month - I am happy to tell you that my period has tapered off. I'm back to getting it once a month for about 5 days. It's still heavier than it used to be. But my point is my body is slowly crawling back to normal. GOOD LUCK !!!

mine is a week late so far i'm 6 weeks out from surgery i had my period while i had surgery. i took a test today it was neg i think it's normal.

Yes! Basically I was told to hang in there. They suggested I try an IUD. but honestly I didn't want one more thing new in my body.

I started the day i was released and i have always had horrible painful periods so it was a doozy. The cramps along with the trapped air and surgical incisions made it very difficult. I was hurting from neck to thigh. Yes it was pretty awful. I felt like i was going to hemorrhage. The nurses at the hospital warned me the catheter and surgery could being on my cycle
