Complication? It's not working, there's a complication
I felt the same shortly after I had VSG. I was also still hungry and craving sweets after surgery. I didn't feel much restriction, I thought maybe my sleeve was too big. I am almost 4 months post op, and am about to hit the 50 lb mark. I have no problem eating any foods: tough meat, salad, popcorn etc. you will feel restriction when you try cottage cheese or refried beans. Another tip is to imagine the food you are eating smashed in a blender. Carbs are usually soft and you can fit more, that's why dense protein gives you the best bang for your buck.

Post pregnancy and have stacked the weight back on ?
I read something yesterday that really stood out to me... If you can't eat it responsibly, then don't have it in your home. I think this is great advice. You should have a veggie tray and some already cooked chicken breast in the fridge for quick snacks. My MIL cooked a whole turkey and brought it over when I had my first, I thought it was the weirdest thing ? But all I ate for the first three days home was that ?. I was glad to have it handy.

January 2017 Sleevers!
You are killing it Denise! I am currently at 217. Which is basically the weight I would usually see and start dieting to get closer to the 200's, my "comfort zone". I can eat anything now and am trying to go with the everything in moderation approach. Good luck to everybody!

Not a lot of comments on weight loss?
You did this for you, forget about what other people think. Weight is a touchy subject, some people might not want to hurt your feelings. I haven't gotten many comments either. I generally feel awkward when someone wants to talk about my weight, even if it's a stranger making a comment while handing my drivers license back. Just weird... ?

Incision question
I would clean it with hydrogen peroxide and put some triple antibiotic on it for a few days. If you get any pus, I would go back to doc.

Blew it this week
I moved across the country this past week and I am noticing my desire to use food for comfort is really strong. I ordered a full burger meal for lunch on the second day of the trip, I ended up eating most of the patty and 2 fries. I felt silly after, what a waste. Theses cravings are hard to deal with sometimes, but that's the beauty of the sleeve, it's much easier to get back on the wagon. ?

What's your water drinking schedule?
I eat every 2-3 hours and I always wait 30 min after a meal. I bring a large 32 oz cup to work and drink all day until right before a meal. I refill the cup at home and finish it after dinner.

14 Weeks Post Op - Multiple Stalls
I was feeling sorry for myself because I've been up and down the same pound for a week. I did my measurements yesterday and when I look at the overall progress 3 months out, it makes me happy. I will get there, this isn't a quick fix. ?

What is that one thing you look forward to so much, post op?

Current understanding of LOW protein, high carbohydrate diets and calorie restriction on longevity and metabolic health
I would really like to know what blood labs look like for people who follow high protein/fat diets. It would be interesting to see the long term effect. I am a fan of the moderate diet with a balance of everything included.

How soon after surgery have you started to smoke?
I switched to vaping 1 year before surgery. It's cheaper and you can lower your nicotine level to 0 slowly. I'm at 3mg now, I started at 12 mg.

Irony...
Not only that, but really sweet, artificially sweetened liquids. ? I still have one every morning though.

Weighing Food
I'm a cheese freak so I bought a scale to measure my meats and cheeses. It is a habit I am still working on.

Biotin?
I don't know about hair, I haven't noticed any loss yet. But my nails are much stronger. I take 2500 mg daily.

Awful 3-Week Stall
I stall roughly every 3 weeks, but then I will see a 2-5 lb. loss. I have started to notice that my body likes to stall at old set points. I'm really looking forward to 197 ?

Why Did You Gain Weight?
Love was food, treats were often, and processed was the way to go. I use food for comfort, and later on in adulthood I believe I use it to zone out and relieve stress. I remember being 80 lbs. at 8 years old, and I also sucked my thumb until almost 9. Hmm... You might be on to something.

Motrin
Which surgery did you have? I choose the sleeve specifically because I would still be able to take Ibuprofen post surgery. I have used it a handful of times since surgery with no issues.

Sugar Addiction
I love carbs and sugar. I still crave both just as much, immediately after the surgery. My plan is everything in moderation, one day at a time. If I cut something out of my diet completely, I usually end up giving in and over doing it. Right now Saturday is my "cheat day" which means higher calories and a treat. I am pretty much low carb the rest of the week. I don't know what this will look like long term, I'm pretty certain I will be a complete failure 3 years out. Apparently the only way to be successful at this, is to become a body builder, or marathon runner and eat a lifelong keto diet. But, I don't want to eat only chicken and cottage cheese for the rest of my life, and I sure as hell haven't noticed an increased desire to run marathons post surgery either.

Missing food: so emotional
((katieroybal)) I think you need a hug. I feel where you are coming from. It hits you hard when you realize how important we have made food in our lives.

I still have the water cramping. I just add no calorie flavoring or drink tea now.

Losing weight after baby is born
Not WLS related, but... Breastfeeding helped me lose the baby weight quickly with both kiddos.
