afraid to fail
This surgery is a 6-12 month head start. You will still have to work on your "whys" but this is the best chance I've ever been given to get myself on the right track. I still fail. I turned down lunch from a fast food place, but bought a lillipop on the way home today. Every day we have to make the right choice, the sleeve just makes it easier.

Can't decide between Sleeve and By-Pass
I feel like 300lbs. Should be the cut off for the sleeve. The bypass generally allows for more weight loss because of the malabsorption. But, I also know people on here at much higher weights who are rocking the sleeve. I guess it really depends on your desired goal weight...

You know you lost weight when
Same here, although I'm not skinny yet. I've been shopping in my closet until just recently, now everything is too loose. I bought new undies at La Senza the other day, and realized that it was an NSV at checkout. ?

A penny for your thoughts...
I would like to play devil's advocate here, and ask how many times you have emailed and/or called them with questions? Are you writing the questions down and asking your doctor during your scheduled appointments? I didn't have alot of back and forth with my surgeon no pre-op. I didn't even meet him until the day of surgery. I got most of my sleeve 101 right here on BP. I'm pretty sure most aftercare will involve a psych and a nut. Hopefully your psych and nut aren't in the same office... They could be a very busy office, or maybe a terribly run one. Either way, I think drafting a letter just puts a target on your back. They will like you less, and every interaction will now be more hostile, or forced politeness.

Calories
500-600 calories a couple months post- op is good. I can't tell how far out you are though.

Annoyed....
I am in the same headspace... Pressure to succeed, frustrated with where I am even though I've made great progress, trying to hurry so I can get plastics. I never wanted to be 135 lbs. But now that I think about it, why not get the DS as the second part of the surgery. See if I can go all the way to a normal weight. Have you considered a second surgery? I don't see many people post here about getting a second surgery until they have a large regain. Dr. Vuong just posted a video about treating regain and stalls aggressively.

Not drinking 30 min. before and after eating
This is the one rule I've managed to stick 99% of the time. I think it does all of the above: it pushes food through, fills you up quickly, and might stretch out a pouch. I find that it helps me space out my eating, it has become a habit now.

Scared.
It sounds like an ulcer or acid reflux. What about going to a walk in clinic?

Scared.
Are you on and acid blocker?

Do you still view yourself as "fat"
I am my own worst enemy. I'm sure the stuff I think is 10 times worse than what people actually think about me in social situations. You get used to trying not to make waves or be noticed for your fatness. I don't think I will ever "feel" skinny.

Do you think it's too early to eat pasta, bread, etc?
I would wait. Carbs are calorie laden and they aren't filling. Also, since surgery, noodles and pasta are kind of gross and pasty tasting for me. So it was an easy transition.

Question for >1 year sleevers!
It depends on the fixings. I have done a really good job of removing bread from most of my meals. I just had a company BBQ at my new job and I had a hot dog with no bun, and a spoonful of Mexican dip. Looking around at everybody else's plate was a real eye opener. I felt awkward but nobody said anything. You could eat half of a sandwich or take the top off. Honestly, there are alot of weird diets out there now, you can tell people you are trying to cut carbs.

Pescatarian Life
You should check out Dr. Duc Vuong (Dr. V) on YouTube. He has a whole series on weight loss surgeries and he recommends the pescatarian lifestyle. His videos are great, but I'm not a fan of the fishes.

Serious about MEXICO but many questions and concerns
I did mine in Puerto Vallarta with Dr. Joya. All of my pre-op work was done in the a.m. before surgery. I would never recommend that somebody who is a high risk patient travel to another country for surgery. One of the advantages of going to Puerto Vallarta is that you don't have to drive over the border, and the hospital is literally next door to the hotel. I would bring a bit of extra cash for tipping and meds.

Things you wish you had
2 things I brought that were really helpful, were an extension cord and a heating pad.

What to do with children?
4 year olds don't care about anything besides themselves. The only thing a four year old needs to know is that mommy is going to the doc, and to be careful of her sore tummy when she gets back. Answer any questions appropriately. I drew a pic for my 9 year old, and let him know what the deal was.

How can spouse help?

Weighing Food
I got a Taylor scale for around $15 at Walmart. It is in the kitchen gadgets section.

Can I eat this?
That's what I'm talking about! ?

Can I eat this?
Type 2 diabetes runs in my family on the maternal side. My hope is that I will never get type 2 diabetes, which should extend the length and quality of my life. What about heart disease, blood pressure... You don't think that people who get these surgeries are going to possibly have longer, healthier lives?

So How Many Of You Guys Want To Actually Get Down To A Normal BMI?
I'm with you, my goal is 185 lbs. which was my pre-marriage weight, it is also 60% EWL from my starting weight. My stretch goal is 175, I can't imagine myself getting anywhere near a normal BMI.

Lacking the motivation to even walk...
Don't beat yourself up about exercise. At this point it can make you hungry because you will burn more energy. As long as you are at a calorie deficit, the weight will come off.

I killed that d@mn interview!
Woohoo! I just got a job offer. The pay is better and there is an extra week of vacation. AND they give you an extra 15 minutes on your lunch break for walking. So cool! I went shopping for some new work clothes this morning, the size large button up shirts gave me smash boob. Which reminded me of Chris Farley, lol.

Paralyzed leg with weight gain and Dr freaked me out
If permanence is what scares you... I would consider the fact that the lap band needs periodic maintenance also. The sleeve would be a better option, they both work in the same way.

Soups After Surgery
I ate wonton and vegetarian vegtable soup, quite often at one month post op. They both have some substance though.
