How did you ask for time off work?
I told my boss it was for a hiatal hernia. I also handled all of the paperwork between the insurance company and work.

Here I Go (My Journey Thus Far)
Good luck on the surgery! Don't worry about traffic, I don't think a few minutes will hurt.

Smoking. After VSG
I Like to mix my flavors. If I can't find a 3, I will mix a 0mg with a 6mg.

Smoking. After VSG
I waited about 5 days.

Stalling
I am the same way. I have been tracking my weight in MFP, and writing down my measurements monthly. My weight has been the same for 2.5 weeks, but my waist is getting smaller. I have also noticed that after the first 3 months of constant losing, I will gain a couple pounds of water weight during ovulation and lose like crazy right after Aunt Flo leaves town. I would suggest tracking the fluctuations and paying attention to your TOM if you are a lady, this pattern will make more sense when you see it on a graph. ?

Smoking. After VSG
I switched to vaping in anticipation of the surgery. I dropped down to 0mg of nicotine right before the surgery, and now I am at 3mg.

Experiences with Phentermine?
This surgery gives you a chance to change your relationship with food. If you don't do the work, the results will not be that great long term. You have to decide if you are ready for making lasting change.

Vent..complain..self pity perhaps
I will grill extra chicken so that the next night's dinner is a chicken salad. I'm not a huge fan of leftovers otherwise.

6 months in the hospital
Screw the insurance companies! they approve drugs that cause suicidal thoughts, seizures and death. Medicine is experimental by nature, it is always possible for different people to have different reactions. Do we know why some people are successful and some not, do we know exactly how the nerves and chemicals are affected after a VSG is performed? We don't even have long term data on 20 year VSG success yet, we are literally the guinea pigs. Although keto seems to be the way to go, there isn't even a standard post op diet that is being recommended by bariatric surgeons. Don't get me started on diabetes, obesity, autisim, BPA, high fructose corn syrup, artificial sweeteners, vaccines etc... WE ARE THE GUINEA PIGS!! End rant

Dryness
You are dehydrated. You've got to get more fluid in. My lips also crack when I don't get enough liquid in.

Failing at Friendship....
I would rather have a handful of genuine friends than a hoard of acquaintances. As I get older, I find it difficult to meet decent people who have similar interests. I'm also an introvert who prefers a good book and a nap over going out for drinks in the middle of the afternoon. Just give it time and find ways to get yourself out there.

Acid Reflux
I am on prescription meds for acid reflux the first year post surgery. I haven't had any issues, I'm also curious to see what would happen if I stopped taking them...

6 months in the hospital
What's the story Deb? Any procedure done in a healthcare setting has risks involved. Medicine, by it's very nature, is experimental and not guaranteed.

Tips needed-Hard to space meals, drinks
The day after my surgery I did a swallow test. I watched the liquid go straight through very quickly. There is no need to wait 30 min before. I always wait 30 min after I eat.

Y'all! I'm hungry!
That would be head hunger. ? The surgery makes it much easier to distinguish between the two.

Suture reaction? Infected incisions... Pics
Nifty, your bio says you're in Canada. What are you waiting for girl, you got something against free healthcare?

Sleeping after surgery
I slept on my stomach the first night I was released. I just used a pillow to make it manageable. I am a fellow diehard stomach sleeper.

"Me time" with kids!?
I was also overwhelmed myself and am easily agitated by shenanigans. I was before surgery though, so I haven't noticed much of a change there. Instead of repeatedly asking hubby to help more, I leaned out, my plan is to work part time for the next couple of years until the kiddos are older.

Plastic Surgery?
The low cost of surgery in Mexico is due to lower operating costs and operating room fees. If you do your research you can find great surgeons in Mexico. I am currently looking at Dr. Marco Carmona in Cancun. He has a great rating on Realself.com.

Nutritional Help Please
I would add a couple of small snacks like 3 TBSP. of yogurt or cottage cheese.

Eating schedule?
I started out with alarms on my phone. Then I quit my job and moved across the country. I find that waiting to drink for 30 min and getting all of the fluids in, helps me space my eating to every 2-3 hours. If I go longer than 3 , I feel like I'm starving.

Terrified of losing my hair
I was too, I also have pretty thin hair. I took biotin and my calories have steadily moved towards a more normal level. My hair loss started around Month 4 and is still happening. I don't really have any patchy areas yet and I have noticed baby hairs in the front. Hopefully yours won't be too bad either. ?

Son with autism afraid he might accidentally hurt me
My incisions hurt for about 3 weeks. You will have to be extra vigilant, maybe cover with a pillow?

WATER INTAKE
It makes your stomach cramp for some reason. Liquids go straight through the sleeve.
