  1. I felt the same shortly after I had VSG. I was also still hungry and craving sweets after surgery. I didn't feel much restriction, I thought maybe my sleeve was too big. I am almost 4 months post op, and am about to hit the 50 lb mark. I have no problem eating any foods: tough meat, salad, popcorn etc. you will feel restriction when you try cottage cheese or refried beans. Another tip is to imagine the food you are eating smashed in a blender. Carbs are usually soft and you can fit more, that's why dense protein gives you the best bang for your buck.
  2. I read something yesterday that really stood out to me... If you can't eat it responsibly, then don't have it in your home. I think this is great advice. You should have a veggie tray and some already cooked chicken breast in the fridge for quick snacks. My MIL cooked a whole turkey and brought it over when I had my first, I thought it was the weirdest thing ? But all I ate for the first three days home was that ?. I was glad to have it handy.
  3. You are killing it Denise! I am currently at 217. Which is basically the weight I would usually see and start dieting to get closer to the 200's, my "comfort zone". I can eat anything now and am trying to go with the everything in moderation approach. Good luck to everybody!
  4. You did this for you, forget about what other people think. Weight is a touchy subject, some people might not want to hurt your feelings. I haven't gotten many comments either. I generally feel awkward when someone wants to talk about my weight, even if it's a stranger making a comment while handing my drivers license back. Just weird... ?
  5. I would clean it with hydrogen peroxide and put some triple antibiotic on it for a few days. If you get any pus, I would go back to doc.
  6. I moved across the country this past week and I am noticing my desire to use food for comfort is really strong. I ordered a full burger meal for lunch on the second day of the trip, I ended up eating most of the patty and 2 fries. I felt silly after, what a waste. Theses cravings are hard to deal with sometimes, but that's the beauty of the sleeve, it's much easier to get back on the wagon. ?
  7. I eat every 2-3 hours and I always wait 30 min after a meal. I bring a large 32 oz cup to work and drink all day until right before a meal. I refill the cup at home and finish it after dinner.
  8. I was feeling sorry for myself because I've been up and down the same pound for a week. I did my measurements yesterday and when I look at the overall progress 3 months out, it makes me happy. I will get there, this isn't a quick fix. ?
  9. I would really like to know what blood labs look like for people who follow high protein/fat diets. It would be interesting to see the long term effect. I am a fan of the moderate diet with a balance of everything included.
  10. I switched to vaping 1 year before surgery. It's cheaper and you can lower your nicotine level to 0 slowly. I'm at 3mg now, I started at 12 mg.
  11. Not only that, but really sweet, artificially sweetened liquids. ? I still have one every morning though.
  12. Lol. Ma'am I'm going to have to ask you to step away from the donut and remain calm! Help is on the way.
  13. My company's policy was at least one month in advance, in case they need coverage.
  14. I'm a cheese freak so I bought a scale to measure my meats and cheeses. It is a habit I am still working on.
  15. I don't know about hair, I haven't noticed any loss yet. But my nails are much stronger. I take 2500 mg daily.
  16. I stall roughly every 3 weeks, but then I will see a 2-5 lb. loss. I have started to notice that my body likes to stall at old set points. I'm really looking forward to 197 ?
  17. Love was food, treats were often, and processed was the way to go. I use food for comfort, and later on in adulthood I believe I use it to zone out and relieve stress. I remember being 80 lbs. at 8 years old, and I also sucked my thumb until almost 9. Hmm... You might be on to something.
  18. Which surgery did you have? I choose the sleeve specifically because I would still be able to take Ibuprofen post surgery. I have used it a handful of times since surgery with no issues.
  19. I love carbs and sugar. I still crave both just as much, immediately after the surgery. My plan is everything in moderation, one day at a time. If I cut something out of my diet completely, I usually end up giving in and over doing it. Right now Saturday is my "cheat day" which means higher calories and a treat. I am pretty much low carb the rest of the week. I don't know what this will look like long term, I'm pretty certain I will be a complete failure 3 years out. Apparently the only way to be successful at this, is to become a body builder, or marathon runner and eat a lifelong keto diet. But, I don't want to eat only chicken and cottage cheese for the rest of my life, and I sure as hell haven't noticed an increased desire to run marathons post surgery either.
  20. ((katieroybal)) I think you need a hug. I feel where you are coming from. It hits you hard when you realize how important we have made food in our lives.
  21. I am currently using My Fitness Pal. It track calories, nutrients, and macros. Good luck on your journey, those caffeine headaches are gnarly.
  22. I also went alone. It was relaxing, I did a lot of sleeping.
  23. I still have the water cramping. I just add no calorie flavoring or drink tea now.
  24. Not WLS related, but... Breastfeeding helped me lose the baby weight quickly with both kiddos.
