Getting Banded on 25th March , A few questions ?
You have my sympathy on the pre-op diet, big nik! It's tough......but it's ultimately for your safety. Sounds like you are toughing it out pretty good. RE: workload after banding......The answer is a resounding "maybe". I had a very easy time with my operation, was home by 2 PM, no sweat. However, having said all that, there is really no way I would have been lucid enough to operate my business on that first day. The anesthesia made me sleepy all day and night for the first 24 hours. Days two and three were actually the worst I was sore (but not outright pain, just soreness......it felt like I had done 3000 crunches) and I was back at my job by day 4 (not much physical labor, but lots of moving around). My opinion? Plan to hold off at least 24 hours. Depending on your pain tolerance, you will most likely be able to do computer stuff on day 2.

I don't really have any restriction....
No, it's really not. The reason that the docs have a structured diet (liquids, then mushies, etc) is because when you eat real food, your stomach "moves" (the peristaltic motions and such) when it digests the food. This movement can be VERY bad for the stitches that hold the band to your stomach. If the band doesn't "heal in" properly, it can lead to bad bad things things like slippage later. Follow doc instructions carefully and DO NOT EAT solid food BEFORE YOU HAVE PERMISSION!! It's not just a matter of "oops, I cheated.....I might not lose the weight as quick". This is a matter of letting your band heal. It's very important!

Obama's stimulus package decision
Can we please just get rid of Treasury Sec. Tim Geithner and Sen. Chris Dodd right now? They are the most responsible for the taxpayers having to pay outrageous bonuses for AIG execs. Also, I'll probably get crucified for this, but I have been laughing in disbelief at the circus surrounding these bonuses. Congress is in an uproar? Puh-leeeeze. They're the people that ok'd the bonuses. On one hand, Obama is not responsible for much of this. On the other hand, he is trying to deflect attention from the fact that our treasury secretary may be one of the most incompetant boobs to recently work in government.

6th day on liquid diet and frustrated!
Yup. What Angel said. Since there is no way to really know without going in laproscopically, weight lost is the next best indicator. In theory, a person could lose a lot of scale weight, and their liver may still be too heavy to place the band, I guess.

A Few Days Away and Freaking About Getting "Stuck!"
Well, most of the time it can be avoided by following the rules and by eating thoughtfully. People are different, though....some people can tolerate some foods while others cannot. Sometimes, when you're trying to incorporate new foods into your diet, the learning curve as to what your band can tolerate is very steep indeed. You'd think so, wouldn't you? The sad fact is, you'll find many people have been woefully undereducated in aftercare by their doctors. Also, some bandsters rely on their band to physically stop them from eating too much. That's called "challenging the band", and it's a bad idea. It's not how the band was designed. The band is a tool for us to re-educate ourselves on what "satisfied" feels like after eating. Post band, you shouldn't eat until you feel "full" (because as fatties, we've often confused that feeling with the feeling of stuffed), but until you feel "not hungry". Yes. But remember, the band only works well on physical hunger. "Head hunger" is a different issue altogether. Quite frankly, that is my personal philosophy, and it's how I'm managing my band. There are pros and cons to this, but I've been happy so far. I can't claim to be a success with moderate fills yet (I've had 4 in a year), as I have quite a bit of weight left to lose ....but I'm getting there. It's really not that bad if you use your head. Like I said before, most PB's can be avoided by following the rules, and by using common sense (The night you dine out with friends in a swank restaurant might not be the best time to see if you can tolerate someting new, etc). You'll be fine. Relax. If it helps you to hear it, I'm very happy with my band, and I would do it again tomorrow if I had to.

Now the waiting.....
The waiting sucks, lol. Hang in there bandaid.

Need some GOOD Direction!! At Restriction!!
Yup. Very common with quite a few of us. Don't forget that Breakfast is the most important meal (gets that metabolism up and running), so don't skip it. If you find that breakfast is difficult because of band tightness, try sipping some hot tea or coffee 30 mins (or however your doc wants) before you eat. Ok, I'm pretty radical on this point. We don't need a diet, per se. Diets fail. What you need is to eat healthy meals (plenty of lean Protein and vegatables) in bandster portions. Once you really get that scale moving, there's even room for the occasional treat! Take that, diets! lol Yes indeedy. Exercise is perhaps the MOST important aspect of having a band. Remember, cardio burns fat that's already on your body while resistance training builds lean muscle to pump up your metabolism. Click on mine. That'll take you to the tickerfactory. Then, follow directions from there regarding putting in your information. Once you have it like you want it, go to your "user CP" tab (for me, it's in the upper left hand corner directly underneath the pics of the people at the top of the home page), go to "edit signature" and cut and paste the tickerfactory into your signature. Sounds complicated, but it's not. Holler if you can't figure it out. Good luck!

Is it bad that I want him to be jealous?
I wouldn't drop him just because he wasn't attracted to you when you were heavier (heck, we all like what we like. You can't begrudge him that. Don't you have a type of guy you are more attracted to?). But I would drop him because he seems to be an immature ass. If his communication skills are limited to awkwardly turning around when he sees you and pretending he doesn't know you, then what could he really offer you anyway?
