Well, to be truthful, there are still practicing Davidians. I think they still worship David Koresh. I don't think the cult of Jim Jones still exists, but I could be wrong.
  2. Well....yes and no. It would be different (IMO) if the last date was extremely recent (I mean like, asking him to happy hour while still out on a date, LOL). Maybe it's just me, but too pushy can sometimes feel "desperate".
  3. Well, I'm not a doctor, nutritionist, biochemist, or anything like that, but honestly I don't see how it could possibly happen (although, mama did tell me that alligators is mean because all their teeth won't fit into their mouf. She also told me that foosball is the devil). I don't know many people that got fat by drinking too much cold water. Now cold beer is another matter....

Too late! Could you repeat that? Sorry. What if I agree to buy another 50 widgets?
  5. SNT- Do you have any fill at all in your band? If so......You're too tight! Also, you should think about switching to liquid meds (if you have an extensive med list, you might have to "crush" some meds that don't come in liquid form. I know you know this....just a friendly reminder). It could be that you PB'ing the Tylenol irritated your throat and that's why you couldn't keep down the 'tators. I still think you're probably too tight. Yeah, I'm a buttinski.
  6. Hi there bandpal. What a great story. Like you, I've found the difficult part of being banded was the "mental shift" that we all must undergo. Now, sometimes when I "splurge" on weekend eating, I look back and think "Holy crap! Even on a splurge day I'm eating 1/4 of what I would on a normal preband day". I'm still lovin' my band.
  7. The foods that bandsters can tolerate are as different as each person. A blanket statement like "You can't eat salads" is likely to be untrue....you simply won't know until you try. Good luck!
  8. PJTP: I've decided to grow out my super awesome pseudo-goatee for my friend's Memorial day party. It's because I'm awesome. Be on the lookout for a facebook status update for more information (actually, it won't be more information. Hmmmmmm).
  9. I think that'd be fine. Casual happy hour with drinks and apps 3 days since last date........why not?
  10. My middle boy had a fair-to-moderate fear of dogs. stemming from a big white German Shepard that "snapped" at him when he was a little boy. That's a big part of why we got a Newf......big dog phobia cure. That's cool, tap.....why do you need the funky visor, though? Don't be hatin' on Texas.....er....I mean....."Don't Mess With Texas".

Just to be on the safe side, I never bring up any surgery-related tidbits when on somebody's page, although my own life is pretty much an open book.
  12. What Mac said. Your body temp is 98 degrees (+ / - a little), and that alone will warm a mouthfull of Water quite a bit before it gets too far. You'd have to drink a lot of very cold water to drop your core temp enough to expend calories. Kinda same with warm. It would be difficult to physically drink hot enough water in quantities where your body would have to try and "regulate" the heat, via sweating.
  13. Thant's perfect! For my friend, I mean.
  14. Listening to myself laugh as I mentally picture tap's co-worker..... "Fred" "I'm Sorry. I didn't understand. Please repeat the name" "FRED" "I'm Sorry. I didn't understand. Please repeat the name" "Fred" "I'm Sorry. I didn't understand. Please repeat the name" "FRED!!" heehee

I think it might have worked.

    tap = smartass.....lmao
  17. Yes. Yes you are. But I dig that. I'm certainly not afraid to embrace my inner geek. Actually, it's not all that "inner"... Yes. Yes you do. I'm ready to go home, plz. If anybody sees my boss, send her my way, K?

And it's this "exit clause" that makes me extremely reluctant to tell somebody that they're not going to make it into heaven.....Bottom line, only God makes that call.
  19. Mornin' Doodan (Eddie Murphy's "Buckwheat" accent)!
  20. Could not agree more. I think the material just does not lend itself well to screen adaptation. Personally, I think it's because his books extremely detailed, and there's no way the movies could squeeze in all that stuff (without making it a multi part, like LOTR)

Good idea, Glouc. Also, you might want to avoid the "chicken tartar".
  22. Heehee........I LOVE it when a "higher up" forgets their place and behaves unprofessionally towards me. That kinda gives me free reign to verbally cut them to shreds while maintaining the "hey they started it" status. I am somewhat known around my hospital for being the wisest and smartest of asses. Shocker, huh?
  23. Ahhhhhh yessssss....that's right. But it was Hitchcock that did "Citizen Kane", right? Kidding, tap....
  24. PJTP: It's official, I'll be working anywhere from 9:30 or so today until possibly noon. (that's a 15 - 18 hour shift). The sacrifices I make for my art......*sigh*
