@@laylalayla Do you have any blood thinners to take during the flight? How about compression stockings? It's a shame you're not getting the after care you need. In my first week post-op I was on Protein Shakes and liquids (water, Powerade Zero, Decaf tea, broth, sugar free Jello, sugar free popsicles. I could take my regular meds as long as they weren't long acting or capsules. Tablets had to be smaller than an M&M. No NSAIDS. Be sure to get in at least 64ozs of fluids. Good luck!

I am having the same problem but nowhere near 75gms of Protein. I just ordered GENEPRO unflavored protein to add to my mushy foods or drinks. I'm drinking Isopure pre-made Protein Drink for now.

I made my own broth. Use can or box broth and boil celery, onion, carrots in it and add spices. I used salt, pepper, garlic, onion powder, paprika. Much better than store bought. You'll be so much better off sticking with the pre-op diet. It's brutal but prepares your body for surgery and you mind for post-op. Good luck to you all! I'm 10 days post-op.

I started in January with a HW 292. I wore a 24 some 26w. 22 was the smallest I owned still and been tucked away in my closet. SW 251 that was 3 weeks ago. Finally decided to go shopping today. Even those too small 24s I swore were cut too small that never fit were too loose. I'm in a 16 jeans and 14/16 top now....Are you kidding me. I haven't seen that since high school and I'm 38. They were a little snug but hey at this rate not for long. I'm so thrilled. Yet I don't see it when I look at me.
Tomorrow I try on my wedding dress. It is a 20 but small as wedding dresses are. Getting married in a couple months so I am hoping it's a little small. Sounds weird saying that.

Your BMI is high enough to qualify for surgery. Losing weight and keeping it off is extremely difficult. I encourage you to explain the health complications that come along with morbid obesity. If you weigh 280 - you have more than 100 lbs to lose. That's not exactly "not needing surgery".

@@coloreyes Congrats on your loss so far! I had a few sessions of therapy pre-op to deal with this type of issue. I believe it helped (although I'm only 10 days out so that's yet to be proven). I agree about cutting out carbs - they just make you crave them more. Go back to tracking - focus on Protein and getting in enough fluids. You have come this far - you can do it!

@@skeewee You should be worried - dehydration is dangerous. If it is impacting your kidneys - then it's critical that you increase your fluids. The weight gain is not unusual - but it's not what you should be concerned about.

I am a carb addict. I have accepted it and I'll be the first one to admit it. It always makes me nervous when I hear people on this board go on and on about how they are learning to eat in moderation when someone says something to them about something carby they are wanting to consume.
For me, there is no moderation with carbs -- none at all. While I can't cut them out of my life completely, I can minimize them in weight loss now and in maintenance later on. Some ask if it is something I could keep up long-term, and I say if it keeps me from weighing 400 pounds again, you bet your ass I can.
I encourage you to get back on the low-carb train and ride that bad boy to your goal. You'll get there. And once you rid yourself of the carbs, the cravings will subside and you'll strengthen your willpower to say no to them in those tough situations.
    Best wishes!

    Started on puree foods today.
Quite a shock as the amount of time it took to eat a meal was quite interesting. 45 min for a semi liquid lunch and I had to reduce the amount consumed. May have to make things a little more liquid again.
It's not so much a learning curve at the moment, it's more like a vertical line :-)

    Well here goes.
I started on the journey around 2 years ago. The NHS make you jump through hoops to qualify for an op. Followed all the rules and finally went in on the 14th Oct 16. Under the knife around 08.30 and conscious sometime after 17.00 the same day. The first 24 hours was uncomfortable to say the least however that soon passed. Day two was basically a sip Water day over and over and over again. As the day wore on the sickness became less and I was able to keep it all down. Sunday and I'm up and out of bed. Managed a few trips up and down the ward. Monday and it was time to go home. Lot of instructions, lots of guidance and lots of help offered if I needed it. I'm sore and tired but nothing more than expected. This is a huge life changing procedure and it's only just started..... . Watch this space!

I was able to get 64ozs on day 4 but I don't think that's common. Try different things - different temps. Hot tea went down better at first. I also found Powerade Zero good. Just keep sipping.

I forgot about the scales. One of my employees is Jewish and he jokes that he is "the worst Jewish ever" because he loves pork. For some reason everything has clicked this week and I've dropped 7 pounds in the last 6 days.

Let's see if I recall enough about kosher eating. meats and dairy are supposed to be separated from other and pigs have cloved feet but they don't chew cud. Nope not kosher! Bariatric kosher though, as I recall it is Protein first so... Beef, yep. Shrimp, yep. Bacon, yep. Cream cheese, yep. Rosemary, nope. Lime juice, nope. The yeppers have it for the bariatric kosher win!

Keep reminding yourself why you had WLS. Write a list of all the great things you want to do once you've lost weight and go over it at times you need inspiration. Remember that this is temporary. You can enjoy food again - just healthy choices and smaller portions. Picture new clothes you want to buy - maybe to wear to something special. If it's really difficult now - skip dinner with the family. I would hope they'd understand. Stay strong!!!! I admire you doing this so young - you're really giving yourself a chance at a wonderful life!!! I know it's probably more difficult for you but it really will be worth it!!!

My team told me to stay off of the scale at least until my first follow-up appointment (one week after surgery). I did as they said, and everything has worked out. I had a nice loss in the first month, even with the "3 week stall" that lasted about half of that time.
Nothing is going to be accurate at first. Even at one-month post-op, I wonder if it is completely accurate. Healing takes time and that makes the scale go crazy sometimes.
    Good luck!

I'm not sure when you had surgery, but I can tell you that it's normal to not lose right away (or even to gain at first). I had surgery on going in to surgery I was 9 lbs down (due to the low carb diet). When I got home from surgery I had gained that entire 9 lbs back due to Water weight, etc.. They pump you full of liquids and your body is working to heal & adjust. Don't fret, the weight will start coming off. Don't worry about the scale right now, just worry about getting your Protein & fluids in and getting good meal habits/routines in place. The weight will come off. I'm three weeks out from surgery now and down 23 lbs. It will happen.
