I'm not sure when you had surgery, but I can tell you that it's normal to not lose right away (or even to gain at first). I had surgery on going in to surgery I was 9 lbs down (due to the low carb diet). When I got home from surgery I had gained that entire 9 lbs back due to Water weight, etc.. They pump you full of liquids and your body is working to heal & adjust. Don't fret, the weight will start coming off. Don't worry about the scale right now, just worry about getting your Protein & fluids in and getting good meal habits/routines in place. The weight will come off. I'm three weeks out from surgery now and down 23 lbs. It will happen.

My team told me to stay off of the scale at least until my first follow-up appointment (one week after surgery). I did as they said, and everything has worked out. I had a nice loss in the first month, even with the "3 week stall" that lasted about half of that time.

Nothing is going to be accurate at first. Even at one-month post-op, I wonder if it is completely accurate. Healing takes time and that makes the scale go crazy sometimes.

Good luck!

My team said to stay off the scale until my 4 week check-up, which I did. They said that the Fluid weight from surgery and then the stalls and pauses and even small gains caused by the trauma of surgery makes many people freak out, and that it's better for your mental health to just focus on following the plan as best you can for the first several weeks and worry about weight loss later when things are more normalized in your system.

I am 3 weeks and 2 days post op. I lost 25lbs during the 2 week preop. I gained 10lbs in the hospital. Ive lost those 10lbs and 18 more since.

I am one of those daily weighers. Once I gained and once I stayed the same. Most days I lose at least 0.4lbs.

I weighed myself 3 days before surgery and was 292lbs. Today, exactly 4 weeks later I'm down 26lbs. I weight myself every couple days but only record my weekly Friday weight. Don't worry though, everybody is different. I did gain a little after surgery and stalled around the 3rd week. Just stick to it and you'll do great! Also, I'm band to bypass :-)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
