  1. Dr. Waganer teaches other to do lapband and he does about 30 lapband surgerys a month, he did my surgery oct 6th and I just got my first fill today. I barely felt the needle go in and it took him 1 minute to do it. he doesn't use fluro, but he doesn't need it. I have to do clear liquids for two days now. let me know if you have anymore questions about him.
  2. I got my first fill today 4wks after my surgery and It was no problem at all for him to find the port, but them i got up and took a sip of Water and it didn't go down so i stuck around because my doc is going out of town tommorrow., I ended up having to get a little unfilled. It was a horrible feeling when water got stuck in my throat. but then he took a little out and I was wonderful. at least he had no problem with the needle, which i didn't even look at, I couldn't tell you what it looked like even.
  3. I had my surgery with him on Oct 6th and he was awsome, he took care of my reflux and my hy hernia all at the same time. I am so glad I had it done. The scarring was minimal and he had great bed side manners I hope all goes well with you
  4. I just had my surgery oct 6th and I was very nervous and I almost talked myself out of too. I am now at the end of my third week and it is the best thing i ever did. the first week after was really tough but after that it was so much better and I am loosing inches as well as pounds and I feel so much healthier already. I am still a tiny bit sore where the port is but other then that I am ready to start working out.
  5. Reading that report is not very encouraging after just having the band two weeks ago put on. I think it is an old report and thats why we have to follow the doctors orders so that none of that happens.
  6. tonight I almost forgot to chew and then I stopped and slowed down, I started soft foods tonight and I feel much more satisfied. bread hasn't bothered me, but I only eat a tiny bite at a time
  7. I had my surgery on Thursday and went back to work on Monday also, I have a desk job though and I think if I had to be on my feet most the time I wouldn't of been able to do that.
  8. I had my surgery 10/6 and I am 10 pds off too. I don't feel like i have much restriction right now though. I am started soft foods tonight and I am feeling more satisfied. My doctor did a great job I have one inch cut and 4 pin holes and they are healing wonderfully. My surgery pain is gone now also. I am so glad I had this done. How about you?
  9. I know what you mean, I had my band 13 days ago and I don't feel restriction at all right now, I just had a 1 cup of soup(clam choder) with chunks and it didn't bother me at all and I don't feel full but I don't feel hungry either.
  10. I just made regular jello, not sugar free, so I plan to try that later. My stomach is making the weirdest sounds though. SuperDaddy, what different things are you trying. I have basically just had popsicles, hot herbal tea, water and chicken broth which I can hardly stomach. I have had a couple bites of jello but it didn't feel right. My doc told me to stay away from anything citrus and caffeine.
  11. Thank you everyone for your comments, it was definently things I needed to hear and I do feel a little better about it already.
  12. I was just banded on thursday and now it is saturday, my stomach is making the strangest noises all over, I am still afraid to drink more than 1 or 2 sips at a time, it kinda hurts when it goes down. My Dr. fixed my hy-hernia and my reflux so I am thinking that I may be a bit more sore then most people. I am in alot of pain but the killer he gave me works well it just puts me to sleep. They said to do all liquids sugar free, so 0 calories for a week, that seems strange. I think I am going to have a regular icee next week watching my family eat is the hardest thing right now. i feel like i am missing out. i didn't think it would bother me that bad but it kinda does. Did anyone else question their decision to have the lapband done a day or two after having it done? I know its to late by then. i think i am just in shock that i actually went through with it. plus, how do you start those charts on the bottom, i couldn't figure it out. Thanks Wendy banded
  13. I am on the liquid diet now and my surgery is tommorrow, I am really hungry right now. I can't believe it is tommorrow already. thanks for the advice.
  14. Hello, it looks like we have some things in common. I am having the band on October 6th and I weigh 220, I hope everything goes well with you. Lets keep in touch. Wendy
  15. Thanks to all, those smileys great. I am looking forward to the support and information.
  16. Hello, my name is Wendy and I am getting the band on Thursday October 6th. I've read a few of the forums and decided that I need to register and get some kind of support started. I am starting out at 222 pds with a bmi of 39. My insurance is covering almost the whole procedure because of my reflux and family history of diabetes. I will probably only have to pay about $200 out of pocket. I feel very blessed about that. I am very excited about the whole thing and I am on the liquid diet now to get ready for the surgery. I am a little nervous about the scars and I hope they heal well, I have had a surgery on my arm before and I had celluloid scaring and it is not pretty. But on the other hand I have had a c-section and not bad scaring at all. I am wanting to loose about 80 pounds. Then I will be thinner then I have ever been.
  17. Has anyone used Dr. Van Waganer in St. Louis? He does his surgeries at St. Alexis
  18. I'm trying to do it, as tough as it may be.
  19. Dr. Hekier I am getting banded on October 6th This Thursday and I was wandering if you knew Dr. Van Waganer, I heard he was well known?
  20. I am getting the band on oct 6th and my BMI is 38, My insurance is covering almost all of it and I was approved because of my reflux and history of diabetes in my family. I don't have diabetes and this is prevention. I feel fortunate to get it, alot of people have told me that I don't look like I would need it or get approved. But I am trying to prevent future sickness.
  21. is the girgling heard by everyone and it is a forever thing or temporary thing. do you ever get embarrassed by it. I am getting banded on october 6th
  22. Just a suggestion, get your band checked out. Of course you have lost 48 pounds since february and that is pretty awsome.
  23. I am so excited. Were you told to fast seven days before?
  24. I am getting banded in St. LOuis by Dr. Waganer on Oct 6th, 05. I was wondering if anyone was told to fast seven days before the surgery and if you did or didn't and what the results are?
