  1. thanks and I hope you do too
  2. I just need to get a few things off my chest. I don't have many friends to vent to and this has proven to be a supportive place Rant one....begging for a compliment. From the day of my consultation to today, I've lost over 80 lbs. My parents, brother, grandparents are all super amazed and have told me how visible my weight loss is, especially in my face. But my husband has never said anything to the sort. I even flat out asked him if my weight loss was visible and all he will ever say is "it's hard to tell I see you every day" Come on man I've lost 80 lbs, you HAVE to be seeing a difference Rant two...never admits his share of blame for anything. Usually if my husband needs some laundry done he will leave what he needs washed on the bed when he goes to work and I will wash it that day. He has a favorite Tshirt that he wanted to wear tomorrow, so tonight he asked me if I had washed it. I told him I didn't because it wasn't in the pile he left me. He insist it was and I told him that I had washed everything in the pile and if it was there then it would be hanging on the drying rack. It wasn't there and he started getting mad that I hadn't washed the shirt and more than that now he can't find the shirt. Eventually I found the shirt crumpled under some other clothes on his nightstand so obviously he never gave it to me. Instead of admitting that he never gave it to me all he said was "well I have no idea how it got there" Rant three...going out without me. Two weeks after my surgery he mentions that he wants to go to a mexican restaurant that we love, I told him that after 4 weeks I can eat and that I could get a cup of Soup there, This morning he tells me that he went to that restaurant last night without me. His reasoning was "you can't eat anything anyway and I told you I wanted to go". i know it's silly to get mad over a restaurant but I told him more than once that I could go with him and have a cup of soup but of course he claims I never told him sorry this was so long
  3. I know a lot of people like pumpkin flavored things (I don't) but I've see recipes for a light pumpkin mouse or cheesecake. It involves mixing pumpkin pie filling with either light cool whip for a mouse or sugar free cheesecake flavored pudding for a cheesecake like dessert
  4. I know everyone has their body issues. But if you're talking about someone who is naturally thin then from my experience they don't work at it, they're just skinny no matter what they eat. I have a naturally thin cousin, we went to college together and I had to stop having meals with her because it killed me to see her eat more than twice what I was eating. And I know she never exercised
  5. strawberry apple sauce! Add some apples, I use a variety of tart and sweet apples. A little bit of Water, a touch of brown sugar, a splash of vanilla and some fresh strawberries. I cook it on high until it is mush sorry I don't have exact measurements
  6. From what I was told you can star trying to get pregnant about 18 months after surgery or once your weight has stabilized, as far as which surgery that's really between you and your surgeon. But I was told that the weight loss is pretty much the same with either but I chose the sleeve. First of all I didn't like the idea of with bypass that they leave your cut off stomach "flopping" around inside of you. I liked that they removed the portion of your stomach with the sleeve. Second, I liked that with the sleeve it gave you the option of eating better, you can eat mostly what you want just small portions (and of course stay with healthy foods)
  7. all the doctors I spoke with said that with enough weight loss that apnea should clear up I keep asking my husband if mine is getting better but the man sleeps like the dead and can't give me an answer LOL
  8. One of my biggest pet peeves is when skinny people talk about dieting and how they need to loose weight. It's so annoying hearing someone who weighs 115 lbs saying "oh my god I'm so fat, I need to loose 5 lbs" One of my last jobs one of the supervisors there was so skinny, probably a double zero, and she would order the biggest greasiest lunch every day. She was always eating. She was a very nice person and a great supervisor but I kind of hated her
  9. Unfortunately, full on food addicts can't do anything in moderation. The 'everything in moderation' thinking can sometimes get people into trouble. What happens when the restriction wanes and hunger returns (because down the road it does happen) and then there is nothing to help moderate things? People gain weight, that's what happens. Sometimes it's just best to abstain from certain trigger foods. Sad, but true. I don't t think that full on food addicts should have the surgery thenSooo with that logic full on heroin addicts shouldn't have suboxone or methadone? It's a tool as well. Not a miracle. It's hard work. Just like WLS. As Kurt Vonegut said and this posted on my wall in my office where I work as a social worker in a drug rehab facility: You were sick, but now you are well and there is work to be done. those would be tools to help deal with the addiction. Just like therapy would be a tool to help with food addiction. But these are different things. I had a food addiction before my surgery but I dealt with it through various methods and now my attitude towards food is different. I think while someone has a food addiction and are not treating it, surgery would not be successful for them
  10. I completely agree, I had a food addiction before my surgery but that has changed for me. Once your food addiction is resolved then yes, have the surgery. But while you currently have a food addiction surgery would not be a good thing

  12. i saw these in the grocery store today and bought a couple to try. I got the pomegranate acai blueberry and orange flavors to start with. Right now I'm drinking the pomegranate one and it's actually surprisingly good. It's not the best source of protein, it's only 12 g for the bottle, and the carbs are on the high side, but if you're like me and having trouble getting your protein in this could be helpful
  13. My "last meal" went on for the whole weekend before my pre op diet. I kind of just ate whatever I wanted, sushi, pizza, chinese, junk food I still lost 50 lbs before surgery
  14. I say everything in moderation if you want some soda, have a few sips, if you want a cookie have one but make sure you're staying within your calorie goal A nutritionist once told me that if you have a strong craving for something like lets say a cookie, you try to substitute with something else, you're probably going to eventually have that cookie anyway but now you've eaten that cookie and the substitute and had more calories than if you had just had the cookie to begin with and satisfied your craving.
  15. as long as the fish is fresh it shouldn't smell or taste "fishy".
  16. the only thing I get at starbucks now are their refreshers. They are low calorie and delicious. I had a medium very berry one today, it was only 70 calories
  17. I ordered all of my pills online, and I keep them all in a little box next to my laptop where I can see them. That way I remember to take them
  18. good luck!! my approval was pretty fast too. From my consult to the day of my surgery was only about 2 months
  19. are you getting enough water? could be dehydration
  20. jealous! I know I'll be able to have some sushi in another week. Does the soda give you any trouble? how far out are you?
  21. I am three weeks out and I'm finding that what I miss more than any specific food is carbonated drinks. Even just seltzer, I'm really missing that. I'm also really missing sushi What are you missing the most
  22. I would ask your surgeon if you can take motrin
  23. I think a lot of it depends on your insurance. I've heard that some want you to diet for 6 months first but for me, my consult was in the beginning of June and my surgery was scheduled for August 25, but then got moved a week later to Sept 2. I'm currently out of work so I was able to schedule all my doctors and tests very quick
  24. you know, when I was in the hospital, I had so little pain and had such an easy time walking that I questioned if my doctor did anything more than just make a few cuts in my tummy. My recovery at home was also great, no tummy issues, no nausea, no real pain other than in the main incision on occasion. I had no problem getting my Water in, I was always very thirsty. I just couldn't choke down much in the way of Protein shakes. I've read some real horror stories here, so just be happy you're having an easy time, I know I am
