  1. that is the nature of the internet. It is for the most part anonymous so it's very easy to get into arguments
  2. I know people like that. I know they can't help it, that's just the way nature made them....but I can't help but hate them a little LOL
  3. Personally I have nothing against those who are anti processed food or GMOs...as long as they don't try to push it on me. You do your thing I'll do mind I eat a lot of canned or frozen food and I'm loosing weight fine. Sine June I've lost about 90 lbs Whatever works for you is great
  4. The hospital should give you pretty much whatever you need. Definately have some loose soft comfy clothes to come home in. I got a couple of pairs of sweat pants in a size bigger than I would normally wear so the elastic would be looser against my tummy. I'm glad I did because no matter what the elastic was hitting my major incision and sometimes it hurt
  5. There is a difference between naturally thin people and thin people who work at it. "Naturally thin" people don't have to exercise or think about what they eat, they can eat anything and stay skinny. I know people like this. They definately don't exercise or care about what they eat.
  6. he went to the restaurant with a friend of his. When I asked why he went without me his typical answer is "you can't eat anything anyway" and I've told him about a million times that I can eat small portions or a cup of soup or something like that.
  7. I think a lot of people struggle the first few weeks. Just remember that's it's temporary. Maybe you can do an unflavored protein powder added to some soup
  8. but wouldn't it be great if you could just suck it all out at once?
  9. what does the unflavored isopure taste like? I know it can't be completely flavorless
  10. I had no requirement to loose weight before my surgery but I did anyway. I lost about 50lbs pre op
  11. I just hit 5 weeks and I had the same issue. So far I've eaten with my parents or husband and they all know about the surgery but this past weekend I had to go to a restaurant for my brother in law's birthday. I checked out the menu ahead of time and found an appetizer that I could eat, seared tuna. I made sure it was something that my husband would be able to finish if I couldn't. I was worried that people would comment on how little I was eating. But nobody noticed, everybody was basically too busy eating their own food to care about what I was eating. The only comment I got was "oh that looks good".
  12. immediately after surgery NO after a while...not a good idea. For one, since you're not getting as much food you will get drunk much faster and might not be aware of it. Also it's empty calories. you don't need alcohol to enjoy yourself
  13. Whenever I hear someone say that the surgery was "cheating" or the "easy way out" I just want to tell them oh really, yeah because going to consultations with the surgeon, a psychologist, nutritionist, cardiologist, pulmonologist, hematologist, rheumatologist...then having numerous blood tests, ekgs, ultrasounds, xrays...then battling with insurance...then dealing with post op issues, not getting to eat the things you like, watching others carelessly shove food into their mouths, walking for half an hour when you have no energy... oh yeah, that was really easy
  14. now that I'm loosing weight I have more self confidence and I feel more outgoing so I have asked if I can join him. Every time I ask he just says something like you hate social situations, or, if you come you're just going to be miserable and will want to leave early and make me leave before I want to no matter what I say I can't get it through to him that I am different now that I've lost weight and feel better
  15. My taste towards protein drinks changed after surgery. I had no problem drinking the premier protein shakes before but can't stand them now
  16. yes I saw that it was a little high in calories for how small it was, but I'm still looking for Protein drinks that I can tolerate
  17. Shoprite this week has a good sale on packs of Nestle flavored Water.
  18. I was at the grocery store this morning and I saw a pack of these premier Protein mixed berry smoothies. Has anyone tried these? shakes
  19. in regards to the laundry...I really don't mind doing it. I'm not working right now and don't have much to do during the day anyway. i think a part of the probem right now is that my husband is very social and outgoing and I'm an introvert, partly because Ive been embarased of how I look. He recently joined a few groups and after work has been going there. So he comes home and goes right to bed. So my theory is that all of his fun and good moods get used up in these groups and by the time he gets home to me all he has left is snark and anger. also when he is home in the evening all he does is text the people he sees in these groups every other night
  20. no, he's terrified of doctors and surgery and he doesn't want to do anything about his weight. I really don't think it's a matter of jealousy, he's just not a very romantic or considerate guy I'm finding out
  21. I definitely want to go to counseling but our insurance doesn't cover it, and it'snot something that we can afford on our own right now
  22. oh I do my share of bonehead things too, but I apologize for them and I can admit when I've done something stupid. he can never ever ever admit that he's done something wrong or accept his share of blame for something.
  23. that's good that he is complimenting you I personally think that our spouses/partners should be the first ones to compliment a loss. Even if it's not that much, even if they don't really see it. They are the ones that have whitness our struggle first hand and it would be awesome if they would acknowledge that the hard work was worth it
  24. yes he is also obese
  25. I have been out of work for three months and the other day I put on the jeans I was wearing to work and they were huge on me. My husband was in the room and I was like hey look at this. He said in a very flat voice, good job. That was the ONLY comment he's ever made about my weight loss
