Pre-Op Diet.. ugh!
it's hard. Just keep thinking about the end goal

pre op questions
a lot depends on your insurance requirements and your surgeon's schedule for me my consultation was in June and my surgery was in September

Don't waste your money
I kind of do this anyway. I'm not one to spend big bucks on clothes. I have never in my life owned a pair of jeans that cost more than $30 or a pair of shoes that cost more than $40. Even though plus size clothes tend to be super expensive I would always just search the clearance items and try to stack coupons. I don't get how people spend so much on clothes

Nothing to speed up weightloss like divorce
I am so sorry. Big virtual hug!!! I am also going through a divorce. Please feel free to send me a message if you need someone to talk to. When I moved out I lost 10 lbs in a week

Help with protein shakes
I had the same problem...hated all my shakes post op. The best thing to do is to go to a nutritional store like the Vitamin Shoppe or GNC and buy a couple individual bottles of some different brands and try them and see what you liked I also liked mine better when I added somethings to them. vanilla shake with some ice cubes and decaf instant coffee is almost like a frappuccino....or a shake with some frozen fruit

Sugar
regular sugar. I don't use it much, mostly in my coffee.
-
Mayo options
I use regular mayo but a little bit. There is nothing IMO that can replace it

Early thoughts
I didn't have any stitches, just some glue. The doc said I had a couple internal stitches in the main incision. I had very minimal pain, basically they were sore for a few days when I moved a certain way. It did hurt to sleep flat, so for about week I slept in my recliner at a 45 degree angle. For a few weeks I had back pain, it felt like when your muscles are really sore after a hard workout.

Immersion blender vs bullet
Virgin marys are among my favorite things ever. They make a spicy v8 that is amazing

Any Trekkies out there?
I hope my next husband is a geek too

Immersion blender vs bullet
I have both the ninja and the bullet and both work well with ice but i just like the bullet better

Immersion blender vs bullet
honestly, if you can afford it I would get both

Can a Icee stretch your pouch
first....one drink won't stretch your pouch. Other people will probably tell you different, but I think that an occasional "cheat" is ok. I love icees and drink them all the time...though a small one it's actually quite difficult to stretch your pouch. If you had the sleeve they remove the stretchy part of your stomach

Imitation crab meat
I am 8 months out. I have been eating it since about a month out

Learned a lesson - don't eat too fast!
yep...8 months post op and I still struggle to slow myself down while eating. When I'm at work I either eat at my desk and take a bit then do a bit of work, take a bite, etc..or if I go to the cafeteria I bring a book and take a bite after every page at home I try to put my fork/spoon down for a few seconds in between bites.

Immersion blender vs bullet
i LOVE LOVE LOVE my bullet. It's strong enough that I can add ice cubes or frozen fruit and it pulverizes them. Immersion blenders don't do so well with those things but an immersion blender is good for pureeing Soups and stuff in a pot. I use one for making one of my favorite pureed cauliflower dishes

HELP! Sleeve vs RNY
even if you were diabetic, the sleeve would still be a good choice

HELP! Sleeve vs RNY
this covers a lot for me the sleeve made more sense. I didn't think that I wanted to reroute my insides when just a smaller stomach works. I am super happy with my sleeve. I have lost 175 lbs with my sleeve and am 8 months post op

Imitation crab meat

Babies?
this is something only you and him can really discuss. You need to know what you want and you need to discuss it. If you both want different things it will make a long term relationship very difficult. My soon to be ex husband one day told me he didn't want to have kids. He knew I did. If I had known he didn't want to have any I never would have married him in the first place do you really not want kids or are you just afraid of gaining weight? if it's just the weight, pregnancy is a temporary condition you know

Sleeve holds 2 oz vs "I can drink a lot more than that" Questions and Confusion.
what you're "allowed" to do might end up being very different than what your body can handle post op. Your insides will be swollen and confused, you won't feel your best, you most likely won't be able to have a whole shake in a sitting. Eight months post op I still can't.

What do I tell my son?
I think he might be a bit too young to fully understand. If he says anything about your weight loss, i would just say that you are on a new diet that is working well for you. That actually won't be a lie.

Starting my pureed food on Monday. Looking for recipes for favorites.
Roas some whole eggplants until they ate very tender. Once they are cool enough to handle scoop thw flesh into a food processor. Add a bit of mayo, salt, garlic, and lemon juice and puree it Or Cut up some cauliflower into small pieces. Toss with some olive oil, salt, and garlic powder. When they are fork tender and brown around the edges puree them in a food processor. While it's still warm add a wedge Or two of laughing cow cheese Roas some whole eggplants until they ate very tender. Once they are cool enough to handle scoop thw flesh into a food processor. What should I be doing ?
When i made the decision to actually have surgery i started making little changes. Tried to drink more Water, tried to replace a few breakfasts a week with a Protein shake. Yes I binged here and there and occasionally indulged. I did not exercise before and I don't exercise now. I got my sleeve eight months ago and have lost 175 lbs just by changing my eating habbits Yes surgery is a lifetime commitment and you need to be prepared completely for that. Maybe see if there are any support groups near you and take your husband and go to a meeting or two. When i made the decision to actually have surgery i started making little changes.
