luvhermitcrabs reacted to Cali_Angel in October 28th GOT MY DATE!
So i went in today and i talked to the surgeon and he approved me for my date! he weighted me and talked to me and then said that he had one opening in October. it was a lot sooner then i thought it was going to be, i was pretty sure he was going to tell me that he didn't have an opening til perhaps around December maybe January if he didn't want to do it at the end of the year...but OCTOBER! its like right around the corner and i am so happy and feel like there is so much that i need to get done before that happens. I feel a huge amount of pressure but accomplishment because i HAVE worked very hard to lose 24lbs in a matter of a few months, i want to continue to lose before i go in too. I still have to go in for my pre-op and that is on the 13 of Oct, and because that is more then 30 days away i have to re do blood tests but that's about it everything else is clear. So that's my Happy news for the day, i hope every one else has had a good day.

    Hello everyone. ????
I've watched and read lots of wonderful stories and been educated more than any book could ever do for me just watching and reading.
Thank you all very much for sharing your stories here for people like me to read!
I will start to post now and share my story with others who I'm sure are reading and watching too.
    Thank you. ????✨????

My NUT has me practicing this whole thing and honestly it's harder than people realize. Especially for me because I have kids to feed and kids who need stuff and I'm hopping up and down and all around and I never get to just sit and consciously eat. It's hurry up and shove it down before the next thing comes along I have to go do. It's frustrating, but I've started making rules to help like if they didn't ask for it before we sat down, they have to wait type things and only refills will be gotten is after daddy finishes. I've started singing silly songs between bites to help time me. If you don't want to sing them out loud, do it I your head and when you finish the song it's time for the next bite. Like one of the songs I use is "hickory dickory dock, I don't want to wait for the clock! The food is getting cold the bread becoming a rock, hickory dickory dock!"then I repeat it 3 times. By then I'm ready for the next bite. Or I'll walk my fork around the entire circumference of the plate like I'm being a clock. It's childish, I'll admit, but it works for keeping me timed without a timer. I just set the egg timer for the 30 min mark and I've really gotten the hang of it! The only part I am having trouble with is that I over spicy my food and then I'm crying for a drink of Water to kill the heat while I wait!

Timer on my phone is the only way I am accomplishing it so far. I set 2 timers - one goes off every 1 1/2 minutes and I won't take a bite until it goes off and then reset it for the next bite. The other time is for 30 minutes and at 30 minutes, I have to stop and get rid of my plate. When I am with others and not able to watch the clock, it is harder, but once it becomes more habit, it will get easier (or so I am told).

It is indeed your new birthday. I had surgery almost a year ago and I plan a celebration. I have lost 110 lbs and have reached my goal. It's fantastic but the amazing thing is how good I feel. I feel like I reset the clock 20 years because I feel the kind of energy I had back then.
The first 4 months were a little difficult managing food and drink but after that I have been great. Only once in a blue moon I get sick because I tend to eat too fast and don't chew enough, my bad. I have to be careful not to eat too much desert too but my taste buds have changed. Now my idea of a wonderful dessert is Greek 100 yogurt with a handful of blueberries mixed in.

dying on the operating table. But then I noticed a week or so before I went into surgery that the surgeon's office had scheduled my two-week, three-month, and six-month post-op appointments. So they evidently expected me to survive! After that, I was OK with it...

I was doing ok on surgery fears and anxiety but right now I'm super terrified they will cut my stomach too small during my sleeve procedure.
Next week it will be something else I'm sure.

luvhermitcrabs reacted to Grace2115 in Argument for Surgeon as to Why I Want the Bypass
My surgeon is the Director of Bariatric Surgery for Einstein Hospital in Philadelphia, and has performed thousands of Bariatric surgeries. He was even featured in an article done by ABC news. He sat down with me and asked ME what I wanted to have done. Of course I asked what his recommendation would be for me, and he said that bypass is generally more successful. Many people are very successful w/ the sleeve, while others end up getting revisions done, choosing finally, RNY. Point being- don't feel forced into ANYTHING. This is YOUR life, YOUR body. Research your doctor. Make an informed decision. Don't let ANYONE bully you into anything. Good luck!

You can adjust your calories to whatever numbers you want, but unfortunately it won't give you weight loss predictions unless you log at least 1000 calories/day. You can adjust your calorie goal in settings

I am just so grateful for this surgery, my wanting to take charge of my life in the 1st place and my surgical team, and of course my amazing husband who has made this so easy on me!
I will be 1 year out Oct 21st, down 113 lbs so far. No more diabetes, high blood pressure, acid reflux, fatty liver, edena, fibro myalgia, daily chronic pain, self loathing, and that feeling of dread. I also no longer take 17 meds, instead I take 3 and all my Vitamins every day! My self worth, self image and love of life has replaced the exact opposites!
I now want to share my zest for life, enthusiasm of wls and success with both pressure and post open peers. I talk to my surgeon tomorrow at my follow up about peer coaching. I have so many awesome ideas, and ways to help and am so so excited to hopefully be soon embarking on giving back and helping my fellow wls peeps.
The pic I am sharing is from Sept 2014 on the left and just 2 weeks ago on the right. It is 108 lbs difference, I have lost another 5 lbs since then. I look and feel like a completely different person.

If I knew I was going to be getting pregnant after weight loss surgery I would hold off on the skin surgery. If you don't you will be stretching out the tight(but already stretched before) skin and might need to do it again.
    Just my opinion though

My surgery will be Oct 29 with my pre-op Oct 14. Now I'm excited and nervous. So dreading the liquid diet. Hope I will continue to have all your support. I'm going in to have the bypass, but may end up having sleeve if my adhesions are too massive. I'm in NC and will be having surgery in Hickory.

Relax! Stop weighing yourself so you don't drive yourself crazy. It will come off, your bodies are just readjusting. I'm only a few weeks past you two (sleeved 6/30/15), but I've learned the body does weird things. I'm settling into a 2 lb per week average, but when I looked at the daily amounts it was stressful. A month or so down the road you'll just giggle at how you drove yourself nuts. Just follow your rules from your surgeon/nut and you'll do fine!

So, I went shopping yesterday for the first time in a couple of months. And I am proud to say that NOTHING was "plus sized". It was my first non big girl store shopping trip in more time than I can remember. And on top of that, I was buying Large shirts and size 10 jeans. I never thought that I would feel this good so soon. I am so happy! As many others say, wish I had only done this sooner!
If I feel this great at 5 months post op, I cant wait what the future holds!!
