  1. Congratulations Amanda.. You're doing great Kate
  2. The body over compensated and produces a lot of saliva to see if it can push the food down the oesophagus. I have had this recently too, ate too fast and felt like c**p afterwards. It was a reminder to keep to the rules for life lol. Kate
  3. I had them for after my surgery. Not sure they worked but they sure made my mouth felt fresh!! Congratulations on the surgery and speedy recovery
  4. I wear HRT Patches, had to stop using them 6 weeks before and 6 weeks after surgery. Then went straight back on them. My weight loss has been fine. I also came of BP tablets (High BP) so another bonus ... yayyyy Best of luck in the process! Kate
  5. And we thought the run up to Brexit was bad... In the name of solidarity though, I will be eating chicken or Fish on Tuesday, whilst sat in my USA onesie. Kate
  6. Are you sweating or do you have a raging temperature? If its 'just' sweating, keep yourself cool at night with a fan, keep the windows open, shower if you can and get plenty of fresh air. If you have a high temperature, call your team and ask their advice. Hope it eases for you soon and congrats on the surgery !! Kate Wait until you hit the OMG im freezing stage
  7. @@tapgirl Congratulations on the upcoming surgery .. Not too long now! I think everyone has a little wobble before and just after the surgery. I was fine until day three, then had a meltdown, thinking what the hell had I done. I reserched it a lot too, just like you but nothing can really prepare you and I don't mean in a bad way, so don't worry. I hope the sugery goes well and your recovery is swift. 15 months on, I still say its the best thing I have done. I just wish I had done it sooner. Where are you having the surgery? *Hugs* for the next few days. Kate
  8. I went from UK 24 to UK 12 (USA 22 to USA 10). Im having skin surgery in January so may get in a ten (USA 8) then whohooooooo. Kate
  9. Don't touch it.. believe me... don't even try
  10. @@kyboo1972 Wow.. very inspirational .. congrats on the great weight loss so far
  11. Best wishes and well done for nipping it in the bud now before it became worse!
  12. Initially (and this is my personal thought) salad isn't the best thing to eat early on only because your stomach is still recovering, will be tiny with the swelling and you need Protein before salad. I eat salad now after 15 months and really enjoy it but there are times that i can't eat much, maybe a couple of bites after I get the protein in, on the plate. Go by what your team says, as I am sure there will be lots of differing thoughts here Congratulations on the surgery
  13. Turn it round and if he was having the surgery to be healthy would you support him? I bet you would. Also remember its 6 weeks and not forever. I know its hard as I was alone a long time before I married my second husband so I know exactly where you are coming from and no it isn't easy. Have you discussed your feelings with your partner? Does he know how you feel and what was his response?
  14. I stuck to scrambled eggs, cottage cheese, greek high Protein yogurts as well as Protein drinks initially, in the soft food phase and introduced other foods slowly. That way I could log down all the protein, carbs etc I had that day rather than making a meal and not really knowing the nutritional value of what I was able to eat. It's boring I know but I added foods one at a time so I knew what was working for me and what wasn't. It was only when I was near goal that I relaxed about eating meals that I couldn't track as much. Congrats on the surgery
  15. *disclaimer* this post is not defending those who have pizza, fried chicken, bread, alcohol days and weeks post op! Haha! That made me chuckle !! lol
  16. If you do it all the time it will become such and ingrained habit that you won't really think about it anymore (apart from looking at the clock). I don't wait 30 minutes before eating anymore (im 15 months out) but I am really strict regarding drinking afterwards and usually wait 45 - 60 minutes. I want to feel full for longer. It's hard but its worth it in my opinion and yes... forever. Kate
  17. Can you contact your team and ask their advice. It would put your mind at rest. Hope you feel better soon
  18. I had four weeks off after the VSG and was sorry to go back to work so early.. it was exhausting. However some people go back very early and are fine. I am having skin removal surgery in January 2017 and I will take the whole 6 weeks off and more if needed. Congratulations and speedy recovery. Please take it easy
  19. Are you due on your monthly? Are you constipated? I know I tend to gain when I don't go to the loo for a while. Are you logging everything you eat down? Are you drinking enough fluids (and the right ones) If you are sticking to your teams advice you are doing good. Put the scale away for a while and keep on track. Congrats re the surgery btw
  20. Wow you look fantastic and such a change! Congratulations
  21. Congratulations on the weight loss. Amazing stuff
  22. I still chew a lot and I am 15 months out. Personal choice really as I seem to get more in if I do so and I am more comfortable after a meal. I also find that chewing a lot focuses my mind on what I am eating and why, Protein first blah blah. I seem to enjoy my food more when being mindful of it. I have on occasion wolfed food down, without chewing much and only ended up bringing it back up and feeling full after 2 bites. Funnily enough my husband recently had to be rushed to hospital as an emergency. He had been eating chicken and some got suck in his throat. It was a dreadful time and he had to go to theatre whilst they fished it all out. The consultant told my husband, "You have teeth, use them, chew chew chew". So now we both do lol.
  23. More water, then some more. Works for me
