  1. I struggled the first few days and then after a week I never had a problem with fluids. I mainly drink more than 64 oz a day which has made me very happy. as I used to drink a ton of Water before and was concerned about not being able to after the surgery. 64oz is a guideline. Congrats on the surgery
  2. I think when you are maintaining and are a long way out on occassion it wouldn't hurt. Not often but on occassion. You are not going to die from eating and drinking at the same time but the food will just go straight through and that could cause problems with hunger. Make a decision not to do it until you are at or beyond your goal and then only rarely if its a real necessity or want. Have you had surgery and if so how far out are you?
  3. Wow you look amazing.... Congratulations !!
  4. Congratulations on the surgery...
  5. I must be a masochist as I loved watching the TV cookery programmes, I think I was a little obsessed with them Actually, I still am. Kate

  8. My own choice but I stayed on some of the stages for longer than they said I could. My body told me when I was ready for the next stage. I am sure some have 'cheated' but whats the point in that? Seems a bit daft to have the surgery and then not make the best of the honeymoon period. Especially when you are healing. You will never get that first 6 weeks back and its a great time to change the mindset over food which will carry you onto long term sucess. Isn't that why we had the surgery in the first place?
  9. This is much more polite, but not good advice. I'm firmly on the 'food is fuel, not treats' side of this WLS thing and you'll see me object nearly every time I come across a post, especially from someone new to this, talking about 'treating yourself' and advising people to 'try it and see if you can handle it' with known trigger foods like chips, sodas, candy, ice cream, etc. You don't stop eating your 'bad' foods until you're healed then start introducing them again...get over that mindset. To the OP, guacamole can be a good choice at 3 weeks if it's fairly smooth...I wouldn't eat big chunks of onion or jalapeno. I eat avocados with a spoon, right out of the skin, with a bit of balsamic vinegar. Very high-quality fat and a surprisingly high amount of fiber, too! Enjoy! Avocado and fiber, yeppers! I've never been able to eat avocados because of this problem. It is a crazy natural laxative for me. 30-60 minutes after eating and I'm glued to a toilet seat. Must remember this for next time i am constipated.
  10. Are you getting in your Protein? Are you getting in your Water? Are you eating enough? Do you feel hungry and crave 'good' foods or are you craving the crap stuff? If its rubbish it may be head hunger rather than real hunger. Might be good to have a chat with your NUT if you have one. Kate
  11. Can't help with the hair but just wanted to say congratulations on the surgery !
  12. awwwwww thats really nice, you must have felt fabulous
  13. Plain greek yogurt.... Hated it before and now love it and have it at least once a day. I used to love tea... I drank buckets of it daily and hated it afterwards. Even the smell turned my stomach. I have had a couple of cups recently but its not the same. Now that IS weird seeing as I am Enlish and we are born with a cup of tea in hand lol
  14. It will always show you are not eating enough especially earlier on and it still does for me now (calorie wise). Im 15 months out and can't get 1500 (good) calories a day in. Congratulations on your surgery !!
  15. I have always found tracking food really helpful. It keeps me focused and I can learn a lot from it. Initially I did it to learn about nutriants and boy did I !! Some things I thought were really healthy are full of carbs and I stuck with low carbs for the first year or so. Now I do carb cycling and tracking really helps with that I use myfitnesspal and started tracking everything from when I went onto full liquids and pureed foods. It's never too early to start (IMO). Congrats on the surgery !! Kate
  16. I have been on Prozac for a long time (25 years), ever since Hashimoto's disease decided to pop into my life. I was told that my serotonin level was very low and thats why I needed it and I haven't had an issue at all with it. I didn't take it for a few weeks because I didn't want to take pills just after surgery but then started after week six if I recall right. Kate
  17. Congratulations and speedy recovery !!
  18. @@krazibabigirl A new exciting future becons for you. As others have said, keep busy and 24 hours will fly by !! Make sure you let us all know how you get on
  19. How far out of surgery are you? I listen to my body and rest, sleep, relax and then rest some more. Hope you feel better soon!
  20. I bought a pair of boots this year that are XS in the calf .. i could have cried, in between all the whooping and laughing I did. Roll on the January sales Postscript: Also I wear heels now, rather than flats as I used to hate trying to ram my fat feet into nice shoes but now I can wear what I want. Whoop Whoop.
  21. I did early on but its very rare now. One thing that continues to happen daily, is my nose runs when I eat or drink. I wish it would stop !!
  22. Stick to your surgeons guidelines and make the most of the 'honeymoon' period before adding high carb/sugar foods. Kate
  23. FrankiesGirl beat me to it
