  1. Congratulations and welcome Pull up a chair, get settled, have some fun and learn a lot and I will reserve a space for you on the losers bench Kate
  2. I think most people have those high's and low's before surgery, it's natural and be prepared for it after surgery too. I dont think I had a low before the surgery however I did panic going into the pre-op room, only because I have dreadful veins and it takes an ages to get a canula in (they gave me gas before doing it as I told them that was the bit I was dreading). I dont regret it for a second and should have done it years ago! You will be fine. Come here and talk to others, vent, chat, support others and ask for support. You have this! You can do it !!!
  3. Try to stick to high Protein foods before mashed potatoes.. im not a nurse, bariatric Doctor or any kind of specialist, however I think there are many better options than potatoes this early in the process. You need fluids and protein, potatoes can wait, if you ever eat them at all. Hope the visit goes well and they can give you a more comprehensive list of what they feel is suitable. Kate
  4. Do you have recommended foods from your team at all?
  5. Just posted this in another thread: Try hot Water, cold water, water with ice, water with sugar free flavouring drops, caffine free tea and coffee, slurpies with sugar free flavouring drops, make your Protein drink (if powder) with 20 oz water, broth.. try lots of different way to get fluids in. You have to get the fluids in or you will end up dehydrated and you don't want that ! P.s leave the tea and coffee as a last resort and sip sip sip until you can't sip anymore Congratulations on the surgery !
  6. Whatever you mash, remember to chew, chew, chew. I was once told that digestion starts in the mouth
  7. oh, I never followed a breakfast, lunch and dinner thing. I just ate what I fancied when I fancied it. Hope you have some more suggestions.
  8. Soft cooked scrambled eggs, high Protein yogurt, chunkier home made chicken or vegitable Soups mushed up really well, protein puddings, Weetabix, porridge, Ready Brek with plenty of skimmed or semi-skimmed milk add Protein powder if you can, finely minced or pureed chicken or turkey in gravy, pureed fish in a thin sauce, light and smooth low-fat and low-sugar mousse made with milk - add protein powder if you can, very gently cooked and soft plain omelette, poached egg or a soft-boiled one, soft Beans, lentils and peas, pureed or mashed for a little texture, pureed avocado, small portions of home-cooked or ready-prepared and pureed main dishes like cottage pie, shepherd’s pie, fish pie, fish-in-sauce, mild chilli con carne. Congrats on the surgery! Did your team not give you foods to have in each stage?
  9. whohooooo best wishes and tender hugs sent for surgery and a speedy recovery !! Kate

  12. @@sk101 Welcome to the UK board :-) Kate
  13. Are you just on shakes or are you eating one meal a day too? If so what do you usually have? How much Water are you drinking ? What is your starting weight? Are you exercising?
  14. Why 3 years? Just interested
  15. I do love nuts as a snack but I have to be really careful or I would eat the lot ! I tend to buy the Tesco small pack nuts so I don't go overboard. I love the almonds. Kate
  16. Last winter, when I was 6 months out was hell. I was SO cold all the time and I had always been the fat hot one, throwing open windows and complaining about it. A year later and not so much, although I still get cold, it doesn't seem as bad. We sleep in a bedroom that doesn't have the radiator switched on (ever) and we always have the window open a little. If I don't do this I have dreadful headaches the next day. Last winter I went to bed with socks on, sometimes wore a beanie and gloves to bed. Hubster thought it was hilarious! I have learnt to dress differently (more layers) and maybe thats helped too. Winter is coming (said in a Game of Thrones voice lol) Kate
  17. If its so bad you should really see your GP to be medically checked. It might just be that your body isn't ready for soft foods yet but best to be checked out to stop yourself from worrying. I just wanted to say that I hope you feel better soon Kate
  18. It's advised not to drink fizzy drinks after surgery, however we are all told different things by different teams so go with what your surgeon tells you. If I go out, I tend to drink a slimline tonic Water, with lemon or lime in it. It looks like a gin and tonic. It usually lasts me all night and I sip it slowly. In between sips I might burp like a navvy though haha.
  19. @@Siyaa Ela It never felt tight to me at all.. as Nicky said, its just a different feeling. Kate
  20. Sorry to hear you feel bad... it's best to check in with your team about this. Call first thing Monday and if you feel worse tomorrow a trip to the ER might put your mind at rest. It's no good second guessing, you need to see or speak to the professionals. Really hope you feel better soon !!
  21. I laughed so much reading this (not the content but girl, the delivery!!) You Rock !!
  22. I need upper and lower eyelid surgery... upper because there is too much fat and lower because there isn't enough/ Go figure
  23. The only regret I have, was thinking it was okay to have an odd glass of wine...otherwise I have stuck to everything from day one. I still weigh everything, still add it to myfitnesspal and still chew, chew, chew.
  24. Congratulations... please make sure you come back and let us know how it went
  25. Whoooot Whooot.... happy surgery day and speedy recovery
