Just a qs
My skin was dry before the VSG and much drier afterwards. Make sure you get your fluids in and use a thick moisturising cream daily. Exfoliate once or twice a week too as that will help. Kate

Pasta
My daughter in law is a dietitian and states the same thing all the time, "everything in moderation". (Btw she is about 5ft 2 and weighs less than one of my legs, never stops eating and bakes cakes every weekend grrrr). Im sure they learn that saying on the first day of University and recite it every day, as a pledge until they leave. If it were that easy the diet industry wouldn't bring in billions of pounds/dollars/insert currency here, would they? Good carbs are essential, bad carbs are not worth bothering with. Im resisting saying anything else, we are all entitled to our opinion and long term success depends on those choices.

After surgery questions
18 months out: Yes, cravings have decreased (A LOT) Yes, I do feel full when i eat clean and put protein first I am on antibiotics now and it's not an issue. I have gained and lost the odd 2 pounds, here and there, which isn't an issue. Kate

Feeling Hungry
Are you having any Protein drinks ? If you mix Protein powder and Water, say 20 oz and drink two over the day, thats 50 gr of protein and 40 oz of water, right there. You must be cleared for foods by now? Kate

Eating out
Can you check beforehand as to what's on offer. Potatoes and gravy aren't the best choice right now. Soup could be a good choice but see what it is first. Some Soups can be laiden with cream. If your family know then why don't you have a Protein drink before you go and just have a drink during the meal. I know it's difficult but you really need to stick to the plan. Good luck! Kate

Scared of the pain!!
They should give you pain meds via an IV... Don't be a martyr, get topped up every four hours. It will help you sleep too, in between the sipping and walking. The pain is minimal. Focus on the benefits you will have in the future. Good luck for tomorrow and speedy recovery? Kate

When can you eat lettuce or a salad?
Spinich and watercress is better than lettuce. Nutrition should come before fancing a salad in my humble opinion. At 18 months I am having salads, however after getting my Protein in, I can only manage a few mouthfulls. Maybe the day will come when I can have just a mini salad as a snack, with some nuts.

Do you use this?
I usually order from the starter menu. No one bats an eyelid. On the rare occassion I have had to order from the mains, I usually take whats left home and will have it the next day for lunch. If we are going to a new place, I tend to check the menu before going. The card is a good idea though

Any regrets?
Do you feel you didn't research it enough before deciding on the surgery?
