  1. I'm impressed! I may get a personal phone/e-mail call on occasion, but never flowers!
  2. I'll e-mail directions to you. I hope you can make it. We're busting our buns to get it all down, and hope to put on a really good performance.
  3. Welcome! I don't have a date yet myself, but hope for January.
  4. Kim, I've been thinking/praying about Curtis and you; any news on the surgery?
  5. Welcome Deena! I hope to see more of you and less of me in the coming months
  6. Welcome to you too Yolanda! There are around a dozen of us LBTs on this board from the Charlotte area. You'll find that everyone has their favorite among the local doctors - Dr. Volleinger & Dr. Bauman are the better known. I'm underway with Dr. Kuwada out of CMC. He's new to the area and being re-certified by Inamed (makers of Lap-Band). Then there are a few of us who have been banded in Mexico. Most people attend the doctors' informational seminars before deciding on which doctor to go with. We're meeting on Saturday, December 17th, 11:30 a.m at Ruby Tuesdays, Arrowood Rd. at I-77. We always welcome new faces.
  7. ... of course, and Mondays are mean days
  8. I got the results of my sleep study. Although my apnea has worsened (mild to moderate) with the increased weight, it's still not bad enough for a CPAP. I do/did snore mild to loudly. I had no periodic limb movements; so my restless leg medication is doing it's job. The report did make the specific recommendation that I lose weight; so that should help my case. I faxed the report to Dr. Kuwada's office on Thursday. I spoke with Cathy Head, ANP last week, and she said they'd mail my information to the insurance once they received the results of the sleep study. So it should go out this week Let the waiting begin.... You can have my two front teeth, all I want for Christmas is a surgery date

  10. I've already marked my calendar; I'll be there
  11. Welcome! I'm still a wannabe, but hope to join the official ranks early next year.
  12. Thanks! I have a good feeling about things, but am so afraid to get my hopes up and have them dashed if I'm not approved.
  13. I spoke with Cathy Head, ANP, with Dr. Kuwada's office today. She said she hasn't received the reports from my evaluations last Tuesday, but would expect to any time now. She said if I can get the results of my sleep study faxed to them timely, they may be able to get a letter out to UHC by Friday. I'd love to start my New Year with a Band!
  14. Great meeting you! Good luck with your fill.
  15. Are you getting enough calories & protein?
  16. How exciting! I hope it works our for you!
  17. Everyone is certainly welcome; but the thanks needs to go to my awesome husband who is being incredibly supportive of my persuit of lap band surgery Love you JJ!
  18. Here is a link to an explanation and video of an actual lap-band surgery; it's just over an hour long start to finish. Please be WARNED - THIS IS GRAPHIC! http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=3190472028990485080&q=lap+band
  19. Welcome Rebecca! Charlotte area lap-banders & lap band wannabees like me meet monthly for lunch, support, and warm conversation. We are getting together this Saturday, Nov 5th at Ruby Tuesdays I-77 & Arrowood Rd at 11:30 a.m. Please join us if you can.
  20. In the course of my evaluation with the nutritionist, she told of an idea during the semi-sold stage of recovery. Puree cooked foods and spoon them into ice trays to freeze. When it's time to eat, pop out the food cubes you're having for that meal and microwave them. I'm not there yet, but in theory it sounds like a good idea to me. Please let me know if any of you have tried this and how well it worked. Thanks!
  21. Welcome Magic! I hope everything works out for you. I'm still in process myself, and like you, I really need/want this. Go get 'um! Feel free to come vent anytime you want. Everyone here has been really nice, even when they're brutally honest. Are you joining us for lunch on Saturday?
  22. I can't wait to see you all; you're a part of my inspiration
  23. Hang in there Kim; it will be over soon, and Curtis will be good as new!
