Such a thing as a two week stall?
I had a stall on weeks 2-3!! I started losing again this week! It is frustrating but won't last forever!

Yeah! 1 Month Post-Op
I made fish again tonight to try to advance my diet to the next phase! I was able to tolerate about 1 oz of Basa, white flakey fish that I poached. Yeah! That went so much better than last week when I tried to advance to fish! ????????????

Doc says no fruit--EVER
A pound of vegetables per day? I'm only on my 5th week so maybe it will change. But I couldn't even begin to imagine eating that much per day. Especially in addition to the required Protein. I would have to eat every hour and still don't think I could consume that much. Sorry I don't mean at any point in early pre-op! eventually like year 2+ also blending is an easy way to get in veggies- kale/spinach. I am 4 weeks pre-op and get maybe 2 Tablespoons of veggies a day. (If that!) His bariatric program gets a lot of traffic on YouTube and a little in this site for promoting a whole food/ Veggie heavy bariatric food plan. (Dr. Weiner- a pound of cure if interested)

Yeah! 1 Month Post-Op
I bet your are!! Not much longer for you now! I am not on meat yet, but I can tolerate a small amount of veggies in Soup or roasted. I really like Beans, eggs, and light and fit Greek yogurt right now! Yum!

Yeah! 1 Month Post-Op
Time is flying! I have still not advanced my diet completely through my doctors phases, but I am ready to try advancing again after the last week of vomiting new foods. I have lost 31 pounds in the last 6 weeks, 14 pounds since surgery on 9/29 (including a 2 week stall at the same weight (frustrating). I have my next appointment with my surgeon on 10/29, exciting! I love reading about everyone's success-- soon I hope my story will be inspiring too. ????

Here is a fun topic, we can kind of go back in time and see where we were; Last Meal
I had a week of last meals before pre-op started! chicken nuggets and fries from McDonalds, Chicken Lo-mein and crab ragoons, pizza and breadsticks. I am looking at trying a lo-me in type recipe with spaghetti squash or zucchini zoodles. I miss Chinese flavors!

Doc says no fruit--EVER
No- my surgeon encourages fresh fruit and veggie smoothies rather commercial "shakes" during recovery. He advocates patients work to eating a pound of veggies a day with 1-2 fruit. (No juice tho) I picked my surgeon based on his nutritional philosophy. ???????? I am suppose to avoid processed foods of any kind but have no restrictions on calories, carbs, fat, etc. I track to help me be mindful of my choices and keep track of my Protein. I am at about 500 calories a day at 1 month out usually 50-60 G protein. ????

Decide not to have surgery?
Oops! I missed the post where you decided! I am glad you were able to come to a decision! Good Luck to you!

Decide not to have surgery?
This is me 100%- I have lost hundreds of pounds over the last 20 years...it is the ability to maintain that has been an issue. What are the reasons you wanted surgery? Have any of those changed? Where do you think you will be in 6 months? A year? Will you regret getting the surgery and losing weight? Will you regret not getting the surgery if you don't lose anymore? Really this is such a personal decision! Good luck with whatever choice you make! ????????

IUDs
I just had a paragard inserted in Friday, the 23rd. The pain was uncomfortable for a few minutes during insertion and than I had significant cramping the rest of that day. They gave me a Motrin 800 before to help with cramping and they numbed my cervix as well. I have also had a baby so that helps-- (I had mirena for a year after toddler was born- I don't remember that insertion hurting but it was 6 weeks after delivery) I don't want hormonal birth control and I don't want a baby so Paragard is the best choice for me. I hope you finds what will work for you!

2 weeks beyond surgery still hungry 2,200 calories a day what's wrong?
I am almost 4 weeks out and I can barely get 500 calories in. When they said soft foods they mean yogurt, cottage cheese that sort of thing- not soft lean cuisines. In my pre-op education I was told no bread, Pasta, rice. What are your Protein goals? Are you meeting them? I hope you can talk with your surgeon/nutritionist ASAP! I agree with others who said go back to the hospital. I can't even fathom how you could eat 3 lean cuisines in a row after bypass surgery... Mind blown! I hope they are find out what is going on here--- this doesn't make any kind of sense. ????????

Hummus
I tried hummus yesterday- the consistency seemed good, but it came right back up. ???????? I am going to try again next week? It's weird because refried Beans go down well for me!
-
Cream of wheat breakfast
this is not on my post op plan. I can have crabs. I only need to avoid highly processed crabs. My son likes his with brown sugar, butter, and a little milk.

How long does it take you to drink
A really long time! I sip on 20oz bottle all day. I also do a protein shake for liquids... I need to increase my water but it is hard!
-
Nut Requirements
You might want to call your insurance and your surgeon on this. I have BCBS and my supervised diet was completed with the monthly weigh-ins and consultations with my surgeon. I did not have to see a seperate nutritionist. Every insurance is different with the requirments though- I have several people who's insurance requirements were the same as mine.

PHASE 2 (Softs)
