  2. WaHoo! Way to go! Chris
  3. Oh Heavy . . . Good for you! I've moved on to mushies now too . . . and ff pintos with cheese and salsa are GREAT! Haven't done mashed potatoes yet, but will on Christmas day . . . It isn't easy traveling I'm sure. I went to breakfast this morning with some friends - first time since my surgery. Had a scrambled egg with cheese and some grits . . . and that was GREAT!
  4. EAS makes a carb control premixed protein drink . . . 17 grams protein. Pack of 4 is < $5 at WalMart . . . I have to drink 2 protein drinks a day between meals, so I take these to work . . . less hassel. I like the strawberry and Chocolate . . .never tried the vanilla . . . they aren't thick and help get that protein in.
  5. I guess I've been lucky . . . food hasn't bothered me either seeing it or smelling it . . .I just don't care about it. Since my son and his family moved in a couple weeks ago, my d-i-l has been baking nonstop. . . and no problems here. (TG!) Hopefully this will pass for everyone at some point! Chris
  6. Congrats everyone! Way to go! I lost a lot the first week .. . and then . . . nothing for a week and a half .. . I even call the dr's office and said "whats wrong here" and they said don't fret . . . that seems to be "normal" after a bit because you body thinks you're starving it . . . just keep on track .. . we could be loosing inches . . . and lo and behold . . . this morning the scale moved again! Yea! Chris
  7. We were instructed to take Benefiber to help move things along . . . and it does . . . also it isn't chalky or have a flavor, so I put some in my water every morning.
  8. I paid $300 . . . but not until after I was approved and had all my pre-op stuff was done. It covers one year of mandatory monthly exercise classes, one year of mandatory support group meetings, some whey Protein, fills and I think that is about it. I'm in San Diego. I did have to pay $175 for my psychologist . . . that insurance didn't cover . , . that that was my entire out-of-pocket. Chris
  9. Ronkat - your day is finally here . . .and you will do GREAT! 5 DAUGHTERS? OMG - you BETTER get better to help out your poor wife! SHE need some support - what a fun family this must be! Let us know how you are doing! Chris
  10. Welcome to Bandster Land all you newbies! (and soon to be newbies!) . . . Things get better and easier each day . . . and we're all heading down a great path! What a great Holiday present for everyone! Chris
  11. Yea! I'm really happy for you! We can't wait for you to join us on the other side! Chris
  12. I was just going to post something about weight after surgery. #1 . . . when we say how much we've lost . . . are we counting from the Pre-op liquid phase, or from surgery date? #2 . . . I was loosing great for 1 week postop - and then it has totally stalled and not moved anywhere . . . and I was going to ask if this was normal . . .but it is sounding like it is so I guess I won't fret about it . . . at least I can see I'm starting to have a NECK! Keep on truckin' . . . we're heading in the right direction! Chris
  13. Its nice meeting everyone! Keep up all the good work .. . and keep on postin'!
  14. Welcome to all the newbie bandits . . . and to those still to come! We've got quite a group going! How cool is that! Here's hoping everyone has a smooth sail to the other side! Chris
  15. WOW! Fantastic!!!!! Way to go!
  16. Oh Sara . . . take a deep breath! When you wake up, you'll be groggy and not feeling any pain at all . . . because you're still under the anesethetic from the surgery . . . I was one of the lucky ones and didn't have a lot of pain to deal with at all afterwards. However, I'm sure your doctor gave you perscriptions for pain for when you get home . . .make sure you have them filled before you have your surgery so they are ready for you . . .and then the montra is "walk, sip, walk, sip, repeat" . . . you will be fine! Best of luck to you! Chris
  17. Welcome to the December group all of you! It's good to hear who everyone is and where you are from. We're here to support each other . . . and I know this board was great for me as I was about to go to the hospital . . . and even now I'm lurking around in my spare time. Good luck to everyone! Chris
  18. I'm not going to be able all I need to do successfully without some decent equipment and some instruction on how to use it . . .and how to deal with my bum hip . . . and classes . . . so I broke down and joined Women's Fitness Center . . . and I get two free personal trainer sessions . . . so that should get me started . . . I'm going to make this work if it kills me lol! Chris
  19. Twilight . . . part of my instructions were to go see my PCP one week post op . . . which I did . . . and she analyzed my meds and cut my blood pressure stuff in half . . . did blood work as a base and will do again on the 31st to see if we can cut some of the other stuff out . . . so that is a good idea. She's had patients who had the surgery in the past, but I'm her "first" from recommendation through the surgery (she could be my daughter . . .) When I went to my post of .. . he just walked in the room and said "flash me" . . . and never got closer than 3 feet to looking at the incisions . . .he was into questions and answers and the future. I guess if the incisions aren't glaring at you bright red, you "pass". Chris
  20. Checkout Bariatric Eating - Protein, Vitamins, Gastric Bypass & Lap Band Info, Post-op recipes, and Help. There's lots of info on there . . . I've not ordered any of the products - but always like more information! Chris
  21. What a GREAT Christmas Present! Woopie! :scared:
  22. Welcome to the Losers' Express everyone! Wahoo and congrats! Our December club is growing by leaps and bounds . . . and it's good to know our group and be able to chatter back and forth about everything! Great work . . .and for the rest of the December people yet to come . . . We're WAITING FOR YOU! Chris
  23. I specifically asked my surgeon this yesterday when I was in for my first post-op .. . and he said lost of people say they are cold post-op . . . and the ones who loose faster seem to be colder . . . he said that's just part of the body changing.
  24. I'm glad I can amuse you That's always better than anoying people. I tried Curves several years ago . . . but my back won't take it (boo) . . . and now I've got a bad hip too . . . I wish I had a pool available (that didnt' cost a fortune to be in) . . . I am required to go to exercise classes once a month for a year as part of my post-op (organized through my doctor's office) . . . My first one will be the first Saturday in January . . . I figure if I'm out walking a lot before then, I should be able to learn from there and start something on my own. I have to do it for me . . . so I'm going to! Good luck! Chris
  25. I'm one of the people still on liquids after surgery . . . and man all the sodium in the Soups and premixed EAS drinks and even some in the Propell . . . this has GOT to be making me retain Water or something . . . since this is almost all I'm living on (well SF Jello and popcicles) . . . you would think I would be waisting away . . . but this week my scale isn't moving . . . I wonder if it is something to do with the sodium . . . can't wait for mushies on Monday! Chris
