  1. Hi Jason! Welcome to our [big] family! VSG was the 2nd best decision I've ever made in my life. My first was marrying my husband We are all here for you every step of the way!
  2. The results of anesthesia and major surgery can cause all sorts of chemical changes in your body and those chemical changes often effect your emotions. It's perfectly normal. Once you have flushed out all that crap you will start to feel human again. Just be diligent with your hydration, vitamins, and protein. Your body (and mind) will thank you xoxo
  3. Also, get yourself a digital gram / oz scale. Super cheap on amazon or at Wal-Mart. You'll be glad you did!
  4. Good luck having 4 oz! LOL I'm on day 12 and can't eat more than a tablespoon at most. But, check these out: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Diamond-Multi-Purpose-Mini-Cups-With-Lids-2-oz-50ct/17056809
  5. Posted a new link today
  6. Use that support to your advantage! You are not alone! I'm 11 days post op and the pre op diet was by far the worst part. My tonsillectomy a few years ago was WAY worse than the VSG surgery. You've got this, sister!
  7. Head hunger is an ugly beast. Get the book The Emotional First Aid Kit. It will help.
  8. This is going to be the toughest 2 weeks of the whole process. I say that not to scare you, but to prepare you. Get through these next 2 weeks and you're golden! Take it minute by minute if you have to and focus on how SUCCESSFUL you will feel when you have these 2 weeks behind you! You CAN do this! Be strong! You already know the answer to your question because you posted it! Good luck!
  9. Thank you for sharing your amazing story! Never stop sharing!
  10. It's most likely a combination of swelling and gas. Mine took about 6 days to really see the difference. Everything changed after that first week. Now, it's smooth sailin'!
  11. I had my hernia repair the same time as my sleeve. It was about the size of an orange and I can honestly say that the hernia pain was way worse than the sleeve. You need to definitely get it taken care of because your sleeve will work best if the hernias are fixed.
  12. After being on these boards a few months, I can honestly say that @@LipstickLady said it best when she said to reply to any of these brain donors and say "I know you didn't mean that to sound as b1tchy as it did".
  13. Biotene mouth spray is your friend!
  14. You'll be feeling good in no time! I'm 11 days post op and the first 2 days are uncomfortable. You've got this!
  15. Gatorade G2 and/or Smooth Move tea.
  16. Pre op is the worst part of this whole process. Put your chin down and shoulders forward and surge on! You can do this!
  17. It's been a crazy year! The company I work for was sold, but everything worked out good. I'm getting a promotion and moving to a new state soon. I met my surgeon on 10-15 and had my surgery 12-18 and things are looking great! I'm down almost 40 lbs from my highest weight and couldn't be happier!
  18. I am 10 days post op and my right side continues to hurt, but my surgeon said that's where they removed my stomach so it may be sore up to a month. Mine seemed to get worse around day 8 through today, but if it's more than uncomfortable though, you really should ask your own surgeon to be safe.
  19. No, you can have it, but remember that caffeine can be an appetite stimulant so pay close attention to how your body reacts.
  20. I'm 10 days post op and I still have that feeling every day! I feel like I've won the lottery!
  21. Egg drop Soup, strained s/f Jello s/f pudding refried Beans blended to a soup with leftover egg drop soup Check out this link for more, but make sure you don't advance your diet too soon, before your Dr. does http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/2007/08/pureed-foods.html?m=1
  22. Your dr. didn't give you a post op diet?
  23. Health Wise high protein low carb hot cocoa. YUM
  24. I am 10 days post op today and I am THRILLED to report that my surgery did not throw me into a fibro flare. I don't know how I escaped that, but I am not complaining!
  25. Get the cheap ones at Wal-Mart or Target. They're just as good and half the price.
