  1. @@Babbs My Dr. recommends 3 meals a day and no snacks, but that seems crazy when I can only eat so little when I do eat!
  2. @@HappyinHollywood can I get that OTC?
  3. Mine recommended 3-6 months. I was a year out, so thankfully I passed lol
  4. Congratulations on your new family member! Much love to you both!
  5. I was sleeved on Dec. 18th. The process went perfectly, except like many, I had a very large hernia that I didn't know I had (about the size of an orange) and that had to be repaired at the same time. I can honestly say that my tonsillectomy surgery a few years ago was far worse than my VSG, so I'm happy about that. What I'm not happy about is that for the last week (I'm on soft foods) I have been feeling what feels like major hunger just a short time after I eat. I have never had reflux except for when I was pregnant long, long ago, but I don't really feel like that's what I'm feeling. This is a gurgling, hunger sensation. It's certainly happening sooner after I eat something like soup, and takes longer when I eat more solid food. BUT, a major reason I had this surgery was to (albeit temporarily) shut up the hunger for a while. I called my Dr. and they didn't seem to think it's reflux because it's not a burning or feeling in my chest or throat. The nurse asked my eating routine and I told her that I have breakfast every morning (about a 1/2 a scrambled egg), and a protein hot tea on the way to work around 730 am. By 1030 I am feeling this famished feeling. She asked me if I am hungry in the morning and I said no way. I have never been the type to be really hungry first thing in the morning even pre-op. So, her suggestion was not to eat breakfast and wait until I feel hunger a little later and start eating then. But, isn't this a contradiction in terms? Aren't we supposed to eat breakfast for a healthier metabolism? Sorry for the long rant, but I was wondering if anyone else is feeling a lot of hunger so early post op? Any suggestion are much appreciated! Love you all!
  6. Why are you worried? Just listen to your sleeve, take tiny bites and chew, chew, chew. No need to worry over it. Eat protein first, lay off the carbs and alcohol. You'll probably not be released for all foods by ten weeks, but you'll find that it's not hard to eat normal things. I'm only 17 days out and I don't have a lot of trouble with anything in the stage I'm in now. The only difference is that you'll eat much less.

  8. Yep, that's how I felt. My energy came back a little better around day 9, but at 17 days post op I still get a little dizzy sometimes. For your soup, just blend it up in the blender really good or strain out the big chunks.
  9. Use a high quality salon shampoo every day that's designed for greasy hair.
  10. Welcome! Keep us posted on your progress!
  11. I think a lot of this depends on your height. I'm only 5'3" so I think it's sooner than if I was much taller. I'm down 42 from my highest and people are really noticing now. My BMI was 42 on surgery day.
  12. So glad you're here! You'll find lots of good help and support!
  13. Phenomenal! This was the best decision I've ever made in my life, next to choosing my hubby! I have had no problems and feel better than ever before!
  14. It's your life. You get to choose who or what you tell. I didn't tell a lot of people, but there are some people that I won't mind telling if they ask. I'm a REALLY nice person 99% of the time, and I'm private about a lot of things, but I'm also one of those people that will get nasty and in your face if you talk down to me, and make you wish you hadn't been born, so nobody is gonna give me any crap about it.
  15. Meh, most people don't have those complications. If you do, you'll be fine like @@LipstickLady said. The real question is, how bad do you want it? How many times have you said to yourself, "I would do anything to be thin". Well, here's your anything. **And just to be clear, I'm not minimizing the experiences of those who truly have had serious complications. To those, you are all my hero.
  16. Holy S**t, sis! You mean I should think about it?!?!?!?
  17. Well, I've never had a C-section, but a few years ago I had a tonsillectomy and it was a million times worse than my VSG!
  18. I totally get that. But, if you donate them to Goodwill or a WLS clothing exchange, or maybe even someone here on the boards, they will all go to good use and you can be happy knowing you paid it forward
  19. Being reminded to drink. Being reminded to walk. Repeat.
  20. I have Anthem BCBS and was approved in a week. I only lost 2 lbs from first visit to approval. As long as you're over 35 BMI you should be fine. But, they will want to see losses from the pre-op diet most likely. Like @@Elode said, each one is different though.
  21. Try Genepro. 30 grams a pop and you can add it to your liquids. Easy peasy!
  22. I bought one and never used it. Want me to send it to you?
  23. I was told 2 weeks as long as you start back slow.
  24. YIKES! I was cleared for pureed/soft foods on day 8. It's amazing how different each dr. is!
