Elliptical? Few weeks out..

Happy New Year Everyone!! I have a question. How soon can I do the elliptical? My surgery was 12/16, I'm already walking 3 miles a day. I worked out a lot prior to surgery...and I'm seriously itching to resume my workouts. My follow up isn't until 1/9...sigh.
