well I want to AAAAAARRRRRRRRR I have not heard anything neither....I am also praying for a good XMAS spirit or a good New Years spirit and get and approval back....it's "under review' is what I was told last week...all 15 pages..my doc sent......is what they said...LOL... ARRRRRAAAAARRRRRRRR

Thin dolphin, I was recently feeling the same way as you. I went to the extreme of having dreams of what it was like living the afterlife. I choose the lapband. My surgeon does all procedures but he as well recommended the lapband. I am married, have 2 children I care for. My husband travels 90% of the time on business, so I consider myself as living like a single mother most of the time Monday thru Friday. I live in a city where traffic is mostly horrid. By the time I handle driving to the childcare, cooking, paying bills, etc it can sometimes be 8:00PM.....Guess what....that was my excuse...so I started to schedule exercising on my lunch or simply making the time... I have found that the family can sacrifice 2 or 3 times a week if it is going to give me not only sanity but better my health to prevent from everyone's life being disrupted later on with obesity complications. I have found that they are even supportive now and schedule around my needs. I have a work buddy who is a real single parent...and she takes her daughter to cheerleading, or other activities ...what she does is while at the game or at the activity place she finds a way to get herself moving and walk a mile or so while there! I purchased some books on both RNY and lapband. People's stories and experiences and the scientific evidence available is what lead me to choose lapband. I am in search of a tool that can help me for life, and I believe I have finally found it!

Phowell, I don't think that is her issue. I have not spoken to anyone else about what the actual surgery is for. And she knows that. A parent is the only one besides her. Perhaps she is afraid of change...change in our friendship and many people are afraid of change...but she knows I welcome change...she is aware I research things throughly before I choose to buy, use it or consume it. She's even asked me for plenty of advice because I will probably do the research for her;). I have reassured her our sisterly like friendship will not change. I just don't get it....she hasn't even called me nor emailed me... but life goes on...I am willing to give her room, space and time to think it through ...our friendship is worth so much more than that... at the same time I am prepared to continue and show this is what is best for me...and yes I will be hurt...but I will just pray she comes back as a friend... down the road..

John, Your life changing update is very impressive....I can't help but feel excited for you!.... As I know mine will change for the better as well. Thanks for your encouragement and insight.!! Keep posting ...

Ohmy! don't be discouraged.... the day I went in for my preop testing...one of the techs that took my blood-oxygen or gas whatever it is...asked me straight out...that lately most bypass patients seem to get smaller and smaller...and if I had tried to diet and exercise that I don't look like I should be having any procedure.... HELLO!!! WHO ASKED YOU! I remained calm thought.....and answered her that is why I have postponed it and half my life on hold...but not any more... according to 3 MD's agree this is the best decision for me... She didn't say anything else...but it made me so mad.... but what helped me was the phlembotogist(screwed up spelling it) actually was very supportive, and told me that if I follow instructions and I ever go back for labwork...she probably won't recognize me because it has happened to her with others.... yipeeeee!!! and that I will go from good looking to killer....whoooooo!!!! take that!!!! so don't give up we are here for support.... huggssssss

Do you expect or have experienced friendship changes? for the best or for the worst? I confided in a friend and she was totally against it....at first she said how could I even qualify that I was not big enough..to just try dieting again.....(sort of flattering I guess) but she did not mean it in a nice way.... Now she has tried to come back with rates, statistics that I don't know where she is getting them from and just saying might as well get the RNY bypass.... That is when I realized she must not really know what they lapband system really is..... oh...and she does NOT have a weight problem..... do you think it is jealousy...?,...maybe fear.....?.... I am willing to share the spotlight why can't she? :think Hurt....:think
